what day is it for homeless vaccines? i need to look scruffy, and get me some vaccine.
All the other surrounding school districts are open for in class learning, so why is MDUSD Teacher’s Union holding out and no coming back? Are they using it as a bargaining chip for more $$$? Please don’t use out children for profit.
Active cases up slightly from the last two days. That’s not great – let’s keep that downward trend moving!
On the other hand, the state and counties should stop basing anything on case counts very soon. We’ve made huge progress vaccinating the over-65 population, where so many of the hospitalizations and deaths happen. After March ends, or thereabouts, the metrics would make more sense if they were just about hospitalizations.
@LED – There is a one day glitch in the numbers. The county failed to release any numbers on Saturday. This meant that Friday’s data was never reported. Thus, the numbers reported on Sunday would be for both Friday and Saturday combined resulting in an unusual jump for some of them.
I agree though that the trends look good. 11 deaths were reported last week which is down from 27 the week before. We are down to ~50 people in the hospital vs. ~100 a month ago. There are 16 COVID-19 patients in the ICU vs. 32 a month ago.
We should never have used the case count nor case rate which is derived from the case count in the first place. The case count is the number of tests times the positivity rate. If you do 20% fewer tests this week compared to last then the case count will drop by exactly 20%. As the number of tests is an artificial or manufactured number it should never have been used to drive policy.
