The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.
Today’s question:
QUESTION: So many new television shows are coming out or have come out within the past year.
What is your favorite new(er) show that’s currently on TV?
Talk about it….
Mind Hunter on Netflix .
“Resident Alien” on Syfy (and Peacock). One of the funniest shows around and it has become very popular. For those not familiar it’s about an alien who crash lands on earth with orders to wipe out the human race. To cover he takes on the appearance of a local doctor, learns English from watching old TV shows, tries to fake his way as a doctor after the town doctor is found dead and one local kid can see through his projected doctor appearance. It’s a howl.
Name That Tune. I loved that game show in the 70s, and the new 2021 version you can win easy money. Winning $100K in the final round for knowing all seven songs!
for that show to survive (and i hope it does) they MUST get rid of the host. she is the worst, jerry! the worst!
I totally agree with Eddie on the host. I loved the old show and was looking forward to this new one, but I can’t watch it because of the host. She is the worst.
The host Jane is annoying, but I still enjoy the show. It was originally on in the 50s.
Don’t watch TV these days, watch movies and news programs streaming on the computer or on Utube. My favorite shows from the past of the serious ones Grey’s Anatomy, I know it is still on, but seems like it has gotten darker, too many popular characters killed off. I started to watch because of Patrick Dempsey, had seen him in JFK Reckless Youth and found him sexy. Also loved LA Law. Of sitcom’s Mash, definitely my all time favorite, but also like Barney Miller, Mary Tyler Moore. Going back further the Mod Squad, and back in Denmark (yes we got quite a few American shows on TV) my parents and myself watch Bonanza and The Fugitive.
I don’t even know what’s new on TV anymore, I just get bored with it. If and when I do watch TV, I will watch something that’s educational. I enjoy feeding my brain with information, learning about things that I don’t know much about, or learn more about something that I do know about. I also watch C-SPAN on occasion to get unbiased news and keep up on currant affairs.
If Netflix is included then…Longmire is most recent
Really enjoyed “Your Honor”
Also enjoyed Your Honor. American Gods and Doctor Foster are both good.
DERRY GIRLS! On Netflix.
Derry Girls is great – love that show. Did you see the episode of The Great British Baking Show when the cast of Derry Girls were the contestants? It was so funny!
Well new to us, and started watching is American Gods.
Season (#3) is about to end, and hope to catch up on season #1 & #2.
There might be #4, and there was plans for 5 seasons.
The New, To Tell the Truth with Anthony Anderson. I use to watch the show when Bud Collyer was the host and enjoyed then and enjoy it now.
I enjoy the new To Tell the Truth too. And the old version when I was a kid.
The only broadcast shows we watch are The Voice and American Idol. Neither new. However my wife wanted to watch “Clarice” so I recorded it. It started off a little ambiguous but watchable but then got into victim mentality. Two Black people in the FBI or CIA or whatever it is started complaining about the lack of promotions. I’m sitting there thinking they should move to the bay area where mayors and all the chiefs of police are Black.
Blacks have to realize there are millions of smart hard working White people who never get promoted. Stop with the victim garbage and do your best. Stop being a victim it will get you nowhere. In fact it may stop you from getting somewhere. Between cancel culture and victim mental problems you are giving me a headache. Now I’m a victim.
I’m waiting for Kal Penn’s character on “Clarice” to suggest going to White Castle for lunch. 😀
No longer watch Tell-A-Vision. Tell-Lies-Visions.
It’s not to entertain you. It’s to entrain you.
When you watch a screen your brain waves automatically go into Theta, which is basically a semi-hypnotic state. So, all that crap you’re watching goes right in. You can’t stop it.
2020 was the year of 20-20 vision. It’s time for all of you sleepers to awaken to what’s really going on in the world – in government, Hollywood, and beyond.
The question was about TV Shows, which I take to mean not news program. Too much TV is bad, however I have watched many programs I enjoyed immensely, and learn a lot from. PBS “The American Experience”. Nature shows, shows about animals, several shows on Civil Rights (The murder of Emmett Till, and the 3 civil rights workers killed in 1964) In fact PBS has many educational programs, the Ken Burns series, he did “The History of Jazz”, and one the national parks, others I don’t remember them all. However, to suggest that anything on TV is a lie and not worth watching ignores the fact that there are many diverse programs, and something for almost every taste. Besides once in awhile it is nice to watch something for just pure entertainment value.
Hanne, the question was about “new(er)” television shows, and in your response above you chose to go on and on (as usual) about shows that haven’t been in production, or even new, in a decade or more. Yet here you are critiquing the the response of LL Cool J. You’re a real piece of work.
@Hanne, I like to watch TV series produced by Scandinavian countries. The streaming services have been showing them for years. I think they are better produced and written compared to US TV series. I think US network execs think US audiences are too dumb to appreciate such shows. 😉
Though produced in Spain, I’ve begun watching “Mistress of War” on Comcast’s Peacock streaming service. It is excellent and follows the adventures of a woman in the 1930s who winds up pairing with a communist organizer, winds up in Russia where she experiences the horrors of the Stalin era.
I suppose Impractical Jokers. That would qualify as “newer.” Aside from that, I watch Bartiromo, Varney, sometimes Payne, and lately Kudlow. Not really shows, per se.
Recently watched the 1st episode of Debris, looks interesting. Premise is an alien ship exploded in our outer system and the debris is just now starting to land on earth. 2 agents from 2 countries are trying to track it as it comes down.
I think it was called “Different Strokes.”
Antique Road Show, Pickers
Big Sky is a great new show.
Schitts Creek!
.
The Den of Tools (on YT)
.
I was really impressed with the acting, writing and overall production value of Wandavision. I did not expect it to be as emotionally resonant as it was.
,,,, not new but NCIS
Stop JRocks! That made me choke 🤣
As far as TV goes I’d highly recommend
watching all of the seasons of Fargo and
Stranger Things. Both will be coming out
with new episodes soon.
Prodigal son.
Call me Kat. Mayan Bialak is engaging and the supporting cast is good. I love Leslue Jordan.
Call me Kat. I agree with you! I hope it stays! Love it. They have great writers for the comedic content.
Too funny.
Despite All in the Family reputation, it actually drew people together by using laughter. The in your face anger style is just non productive and intact incites anger and violence. All in the Family brought America together during a violent chapter of our history.
Big Sky is great, and although Debris is too new to predict, it has potential to be a good one.
