I have one word everyone should look up before commenting here.

Wow! Wet blanket much?

Unable to get 2nd vaccine within the 4 week recommended time.

Congratulations at least you got the 1st vaccine shot.

Me too! But they said waiting 5 weeks will be OK. I go for my 2nd dose the first week of March. As I understand it, just being vaccinated may keep me safe but I can still carry & spread the virus so I don’t really see the point… I want to protect the people I care for but the shots only protect me!

@Dr.,
There is a large bias towards caution in all public health messaging. Everybody expects, very reasonably, that the vaccines will reduce transmission. But nobody has documented how much they do so, as yet.

I think they need to stop being so untrusting with their messaging. Just tell people the truth: “does the vaccine keep you from getting and passing on the virus? We think so, but we don’t know how good that protection is, so use caution.” It’s not so hard. Instead they end up convincing people that the vaccine is pointless for low-risk people. They weren’t in much danger in the first place, and now the docs are telling them they can still give the virus to grandma!? In that case why take it? It’s poor messaging.

Peter, please call the Contra Costa Health number assigned to COVID
vaccine appointments (I found it online but tossed it….sorry.).
I called at about 3p this past Thursday. I held on the line for an hour for them to get to my call; never happened, so then I selected to receive a return call from them. Surprise of the decade, at 8p a real person called me back and set up an appointment for the very next morning (THIS morning!), and she also made the second appointment for me. I only had to go as far as DVC campus, and they were exactly on schedule. Fantastic efficiency and pleasantness.

A couple of thoughts: I’m over 80, so perhaps I got VIP scheduling because of that? Also, they would need to have verification of the manufacturer of your 1st vaccine. Please let us know how it goes!

.
BS statistics and everchanging thresholds. Now it’s two weeks trailing!
.
So arbitrary.
.
Early on Governor Nuisance was touting “science”.. not so much anymore since Mr. Trump left office, eh?
.
Science says get kids back in school and open the economy!!!!

it is unbidenable that with the cdc saying open the schools, the dems afraid of being recalled that we are still tracking this crap, and as well hosipitalizatons are down 40%

chicken little would be improvement over some here, at least he had a bone somewhere in his body (not the schumer referenced when he said Trump was responsible for the erection by the way… LOL, dems at their best, minds in the gutter

Unbidenable? I thought I was going to learn a new word but Google never heard it before either. And here you are with your favorite Schumer story again. How many times have you posted about it, 20? 30? But I guess it won’t get old for you any time soon.

I haven’t posted in several years. I requested registration with the County on 1/30. Got approval to register on 1/31. Registered on 1/31 for the vaccine on 2/4. Got the shot on 2/4 and was told 28 days for 2nd shot and to wait until later in the day to register for 2 shot. I registered for the 2nd shot to be given on 3/12, the earliest available. When I started for the 2nd shot there was one time slot for 3/11 but it was gone by the time I was finished.

All of this on line, very smooth. The people at DVC where I got the shot were wonderful and all went extremely well. I am very pleased with the Contra Costa County Health Department. Great job folks. Fast Eddie
