With the political leaning in this state, it will never happen. Even though a lot of us would like to see it happen.

If there are a lot of you then it would happen. Those that want to recall the Governor are the vast minority. Political leaning has nothing to do with it. Governor Gray Davis was recalled and he was a Democrat. A Republican could win this state if they were reasonable and actually listened to the voting base. Ditch things like LGBTQ+ issues, abortion, voter suppression, and climate change denial and focus on things like fiscal conservatism (funny how conservatives spend the most money when they claim liberals do), focus on small business incentives, tax breaks for the middle class (California standard of living), promote additional housing and infrastructure to support said housing, other infrastructure projects to secure water, energy (non fossil), and clean air. Unfortunately, Republicans have been radicalized and their ideas are so far right that they don’t align with the vast majority of this state.

Ideally, both parties need to split and we should really go to rank choice.

So all Republicans have to do to get elected in California is be Democrats? No thanks.

Political leaning has everything to do with it. Gray Davis was a middle of the road Democrat and alienated a lot of liberals. He was also Governor in 1999-2003, and California has become more liberal. It used to be a moderate state. Davis was also addicted to political fundraising, and made it a priority. Newsom is too popular among his base, and I don’t think a majority of California residents want him gone. A majority of Republicans, including those of us on this site – absolutely.

And don’t tell Republicans what to “ditch.” If they were in favor of everything you mentioned, they wouldn’t be Republicans. Not every Republican is “radicalized.” I’m pro-choice, and a former Democrat. I was young. .

Even if he did get recalled, who is going to run against him in a recall election? The Republican party of California is a corpse, and it started to smell bad a long time ago. Our last candidate, who ran against Newsome, stated plainly that if you were in favor of gun rights, he was the wrong candidate for you. I threw my vote away on the libertarian candidate on that election as usual, because they were both just as bad to me.

Pyrrhus thinks the Republican right is radicalized. There have been several studies that have shown the Republicans have stayed more or less in the same spot, even moving a little left, while the Democrats have veered extremely far left. We went from gay marriage (which I am in favor of), to literally abolishing sex and gender in four years. THAT is radicalization.

“listened to the voting base”

Hmm…in regards to the death penalty, for example?

“Ditch things like LGBTQ+ issues”

By following the science, correct?

Republicans have become radicalized? Do you even watch the news about “protestors”? Open your eyes.

Not a chance! Haters gonna hate, but he’s the man.

Ahh, expecting elected officials to be held accountable is now being a hater. How enlightened.

@Bobohead
Sorry that you appear to have so much hatred in you, and you may find this disturbing to read, but wanting Newsom removed has absolutely nothing to do with hate.

Trueeeeeeee

And for some reason people in SF idolize him. I just can’t even. He made SF so much worse that it is the butt of jokes now. The literal butt because there’s so much excrement all over the place.

‘Haters’ The catch-phrase for those who typically were raised in an environment were they were always right, and where they could do no wrong. When they finally get out into the real world, and someone does or says something that they don’t like or agree with, the ‘hater’ label comes out.

Hell yes.

Would be so nice to send a message to all SWAMP CREATURES.

I believe it will go to a vote … hoping the vote passes.

@parent, if it goes to a vote? If it goes to a vote Gavin will stay in office. Not because the majority wants Gavin to stay but because Democrats and voter fraud goes hand in hand.

No, but, at the very least, voters can voice their opinions and let our politicians
know that they are accountable. I remember Mr. Spock snarking to Jim- absolute power corrupts ….”

I do think there will be enough signatures on the recall petition to put it on the ballot but I seriously doubt the blue majority in California will vote the bouncy hoarse voiced slimy adulterer out of office. We can hold on to our dreams though.

A Democratic adulterer is a no-no, but a Republican adulterer (Trump) is adored?

That’s not a “whataboutism”, is it? I’m informed by leftists that those are strictly verboten. Unless, of course, it benefits Democrats.

The effort is on pace to collect more signatures than needed, so yes he will be recalled. However it’s a long shot that he will be voted out of office as so many voters in the state are pro-socialist. It really depends on who who runs against him.

I’m hoping he will be forgotten. Recall vote will happen, but there are a lot of people who embrace totalitarianism in California so I believe the effort will fail, with or without voter-fraud.

Nope.

Supposedly 300,000 more signatures are needed to put him up for recall. There’s no doubt he has lifted the lockdown orders because over 1.2 million people have already signed the petition. Back to the question: Do you think Gov. Newsom will be recalled? No, our signatures mean nothing just like our other votes meant nothing. Besides, it’s likely since Aunt Pelosi is in charge that she will make sure to pull some strings or have the law changed to keep him in his cushy job.
Lifting this lockdown order is to throw everyone off balance. Jobs are lost, kids are falling farther behind in their education, people with mental health issues are finding this situation hard to cope with and many more other negative consequences have come about from his decision to rule how we live. He has also been releasing criminals from prison. He has not lead by example and received PPP loan money. Let’s not forget that!

I’m more than willing to collect signatures… this movement is NOT organized –
I was not political until the laws of Newsom’s state destroyed my family,

There are places to go sign in person.

https://recallgavin2020.com/location-locator/

There has also been a place to sign on the road that runs on the south side of the Concord Costco.

And who will replace him, Iron Man? Arrow? Flash?

Oh, Lawrence Welk.

It will go to a vote. That’s when the imaginary people will vote and keep him in.

He should be! His handling of COVID has been terrible. California is among the worst states in the country for distributing the vaccine and has a sky high case rate. Anyone would be better.

Time to move California in the right direction. Get rid of them until they work for us.

This guy is a much better fit for California
https://majorforgovernor.com/

Yes! I’ve been reading about this young man! What a dream! Pray he makes it!

Does anyone know how we can get back to showing our ID’s before we vote?
Such a difference in voting here compared to other states.

@Sam, Yes!! I have heard very good things about Major Williams.

He’ll be more vulnerable next year. Tax increases at all levels of government and unemployment. Newsom does not need covid-19 as an issue next year plus he has got to get the kids in school sooner than later.

If Newsom wasn’t the egotistical megalomaniac he is, he would have resigned over the French Laundry incident. However, we know he has no functioning conscience when he allowed patients infected with COVID-19 to be transferred to LTCFs and prisons, thereby spreading the disease. Or, when he kept his business open while keeping competing businesses closed.

Newsom has bungled literally everything he has touched since he took office. And, he wants to be President. Gray Davis was recalled for raising DMV fees when he had promised not to do so while campaigning for the office of Governor. Have times changed! Newsom has raised DMV fees and more. Someone must stand up to Newsom as he runs roughshod over his constituents. If he isn’t recalled, I really don’t see much future for the moral political leadership of the State. Crooks and thieves come one, come all.

recallgavin2020.com

Download the Petition and return it, or visit one of the locations listed on their website. The cutoff deadline is in March.

I have also encountered people collecting signatures on the street if people don’t want to download the form or go to the listed locations.
Newsom has not only kept competing businesses closed but has also made it possible to negatively impact local tourism since museums, aquariums, tourist attractions, parks, zoos have also had to shut their doors.

In California today and politics in California what could you replace him with. Look at Biden he is even worse. Anyone today who makes sense has no chance.

yes and the voter fraud put him in there. Its time to pray. This state is not beyond the Almighty’s eye. just as there are no people that are beyond His eye. What you think is not always so. This state needs the fear of

yes and we will have new leaders…just wait and see.

You betch’er bottom dollar, he will. People see through his lies. He is not a public servant but an elite power-hungry nephew of Nancy.

He won’t be. We, as a collective, in California are all bark and no bite. People will stand on their soapbox in their home behind closed doors but they will not act on what they say.

Too many mistakes so yes the odds of being recalled grows more likely

1. Failure to partner with medical facilities so that we could have been training people to administer vaccine.

2. Doing a 180 on not opening public schools but allowing private schools to do so because the teachers union told him to do so.

3. In 2020 budgeting billions of dollars for a 125,000 homeless encampment from a budget surplus instead of returning 100% of the money taken from public schools the past 7 years. He could not solve 2,500 homeless in SF so what changed?

4. Unable to follow restrictive health guidelines to prevent the spread while the rest of us struggle to pay rent or keep our businesses running

I imagine he also allowed private schools to reopen so his kids could continue going to class. It is easier to bring the side dish inside the mansion when the kids and wife aren’t in the house, or he could be pulling a Schwarzenegger move.

As Lt. Governor, Newsom had very few duties, but he openly and freely admitted publicly that he didn’t like some of them, so he just didn’t do them. One duty of his job as Lt. Governor was that he sat on the Board of Regents for the University of California. The Regents serve for the people of California, acting to fulfill the University’s educational, research, and public service missions. Regents sit on the Board to protect the interests of the people of the State of California. They met only a few times a year, but Newsom didn’t enjoy that job, so he simply did not attend or participate in voting on important issues and did not act to protect the “best interests of the people of California.”

Newsom’s attitude regarding his duties as Lt. Governor begs the question “Why was he allowed to collect a paycheck if he didn’t do the work?” My feeling is he’s treating his duties as Governor in the very same manner that he treated those he had as Lt. Governor. If he doesn’t like them, he simply doesn’t do them. And, so far the only ones he seems to like, the ones he has solely created for himself, are his almost daily television appearances giving his own very “special and unique” interpretation of current events.

It is not just his mismanagement of covid. It is also the 4 Billion dollars of unemployment benefits that went to prisoners in the prisons, dead people and people that receive SS benefits. Lets not forget about the mismanagement of the billions of dollars that have been stolen from people for the high speed train that will never go anywhere.

Not to mention taxpayer stimulus that went to foreign criminals, ie illegal aliens.

My question for people who want Gavin to be recalled: Which Democrat do you want to be governor? A recall doesn’t automatically hand the governorship to the Republican Party, and won’t change the voter Demographics of the state.

But it does put DEMs, politicians and the party elites, on notice as well as the mega rich who control politicians that voters have had enough. newsom has had big money behind him since the beginning.

https://www.latimes.com/projects/la-pol-ca-gavin-newsom-san-francisco-money/

A recall, if successful, may well result in just another ultra liberal ascending to the governorship. However, it will ensure that Newsom’s political career is over – after a successful recall, there is no way he could ever run for president of the US. And that is his ultimate aspiration, except running for Emperor of the world, of course. Fortunately, that will be limited to his delusions of grandeur.

@Natalie, nope it won’t hand the governorship to the Republicans or change the demographics of the state but it will end Newsom’s political career which is all I want at this moment.

That’s a good point. I can barely stand Kamala near the high seat, but I would never want Gavin anywhere near that. And that is for sure his aspiration. I cannot imagine the whole US looking like SF…

Donald Trump won…and that was considered an impossibility by swampers.

this state “seems” to be “democrat”…but it isnt.. the fear…making things false appear real…keeps people from voting. The only real place it is blue is right here in this bay area. The state is actually red. Trump won by a landslide here in “blue” california. The voter fraud has to be stopped. How do we stop it?We all need to wake up out of our slumber. Start first by turning our heads humbly toward our Creator and seeking Him. pray… Shall we let it be stolen again and again. Its actually called the great awakening.. its about time, don’t you think?

Just to clarify my boldness or whatever you want to call it…..I am the daughter many generations back ofthe one who actually arranged passage for the Mayflower and then his daughter in law who was the last living survivor of the Mayflower. I have a passion in my heart for this country. God gave it to us with a lot of costs to those He entrusted it to. Fight for it while you can.

, I am the daughter of many generations back of Grandparents, uncles and cousins who fought in the Revolution. I am sure they never imagined what would become of our county and the abuse our politicians are capable of.

Votes are easily manipulated by people in power. No.

Looks like he will be recalled. If that damages him enough to keep him out of national office in the future, I consider that a win even if he gets voted back into the governorship. It would be a nice first step to cut back the ambitions of progressives who want to rule by executive order and health directives. Isn’t a supermajority enough political control? Apparently not – they need to bypass the structures of normal governance too.

No way. It’s apparent that elections are corrupted and rigged so NO WAY he gets recalled. There is little reason to vote anymore at all.

I do not believe Gavin will be removed. He represents the voters of California who vote for entertainment and not ideas, and symbolism instead of reality. We have tent cities, glorification of criminals and illegal aliens, highest taxes in the country along with the worst income disparities, raging controversies over racism, and decaying infrastructure but to California voters, its all about Orange Man Bad and vote against republicans. As mentioned in these discussions already, Gavin’s troops are already printing up material on White Supremacists and QAnon as the evil behind the recall, with the story that a vote for Gavin is a vote against evil. This is George Orwell’s world and the Left controls The Ministry of Truth.

nope, he won’t be recalled

I bet he becomes Senator Newsom before Feinstein can finish her resignation announcement.

agreed

We did not elect Gavin Newsom to restrict our livelihood and dictate anything upon us. If given the choice would you vote for that? I guess we already did. California deserves accountability of its leaders and we could all use a second chance. The question is who deserves one, the people of California or the Governor?

Some text from the recall petition:
“Governor Newsom has implemented laws which are detrimental to the citizens of this state and our way of life. Laws he endorsed favor foreign nationals, in our country illegally, over that of our own citizens. People in this state suffer the highest taxes in the nation, the highest homelessness rates, and the lowest quality of life as a result. He has imposed sanctuary state status and fails to enforce immigration laws. He unilaterally over-ruled the will of the people regarding the death penalty. He seeks to impose additional burdens on our state by the following; removing the protections of Proposition 13, rationing our water use, increasing taxes and restricting parental rights.”

Not likely, but even if he is, the next one elected, things not likely to be much different.

lets get de slacker

all the dems hate him because all he does is have picnics with our money

instead of filtering it

and taking it like the others

Who did you have in mind to replace him?

Let’s see, there are a number of folks who would be an improvement:

Snoop Dog, Lady Gaga, Danny Bonaduce, Scott Peterson, Carrot Top, RuPaul, Randolph Mantooth from Emergency, Wavy Gravy, Sonny Barger, Max Headroom, or pretty much any member of the King Family.

He is pretty rational sounding, also for the recall.

Former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer Launches …

US Congressman, Tom McClintock would be a tremendous Governor!
Super honest, fiscally conservative. Very astute.

I like Tom McClintock.

Tom McClintock is a tremendous asset to Californians…and would be tremendouser as Governor.

If anything a recall will let other shady politicians know thay are not untouchable.

I was fairly certain that Gray Davis would be recalled, but I believe Newsom is far too entrenched to be ousted.

At best the term erratic seems to fit best newsom’s Covid edicts.
Then there were his roughly 50 executive orders, which themselves have drawn not only fire but Court decisions not in his favor.

” “This governor’s decisions have never been based on science,” California Republican Party Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson tweeted. “Him re-opening our state is not an attempt to help working Californians, but rather an attempt to counter the Recall Movement. It’s sad and pathetic.”

Former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, a Republican who has established an exploratory committee for a possible gubernatorial campaign, responded with: “A new day, a new erratic COVID rule.”

“Californians want to follow the science. Instead we’re forced to follow a governor who decides on a whim the fate of millions of Californians while refusing to release the data behind his contradictory and arbitrary decisions. It’s absurd,” he said.”
https://fox5sandiego.com/news/local-news/newsom-science-not-politics-dictates-lifting-of-stay-at-home-orders/

I believe there is a slim chance the Grease Ball will be recalled.

He may allow it to give himself an iota of legitimacy.

The Communist machine is firmly entrenched.

Our votes no longer count.

There are about 5 Republicans and One strong Independent who would Gavin a run for his money. Yes Gavin has the Democratic Machine and money behind him, but he screwed a lot of people and small business owners with his lying b.s.SCIENCE only crap. There are 30+ states open and running efficiently while California is in a state of denial and despair, locked down, yet have the highest rate of infections. Gavin lied while dinning out, lied about the vaccine rollout, and lied about the transparency.

We are almost there! The recall election will happen.
but will he be recalled? mmm lets see…

~Record homelessness.
~Rising crime.
~Failing schools.
~Locked down population while the prisons are emptied.
~Not following his own lock down rules by attending a dinner party without a mask.
~The handling of the billion dollars stolen of State unemployment benefit by scammers and prisoners
~He ran many large high paying job companies out of California because he wasn’t willing to work with them.
~Poor handling of COVID and the way the vaccine is rolling out.

@ never underestimate the stupidity of the California voter. They voted for another tax increase and failed to question where those tax dollars are actually going. Should he be recalled, YES! Will in happen I highly doubt it.

Darwin – more proof that the voters in California have no knowledge of finance or economics.

Their idea of a balanced budget is spend whatever you want and we’ll balance it out with more taxes.

Yes, true. But how can we ignore his monumental political achievements – such as the law banning hairstyle discrimination, his softening of laws against sex offenders, California being dead last in the entire nation for Covid vaccination distribution; and also the significant leadership he demonstrated as the mayor of San Francisco???

Nah. Kamala will appoint him to a position in DC and the two of them can continue their destruction of the world

In the 2003 Gray Davis Recall, Comedian Gallagher finished 16th out of 135 candidates. Perhaps Adam Corolla will throw his hat in the ring……….

@The Fearless Spectator, sounds good. We should ask Adam to run.

yes, so california’s 55? electoral votes can go to someone who actually love America and all Americans

… oh I hope so… so many failures.. where do I start…. EDD, Unemployment management overall, covid management, campaign promise of getting the gas price gouging of the Bay Area & Calif by the oil companies corrected, voters say to bring back the death penalty – he goes against voters wishes, etc etc etc…. mismanagement & lack of real leadership.

I can only hope!!!!!!

Whether he is recalled or not isn’t as important as it getting submitted for a vote. If that happens, even if he holds, all his political aspirations are done. The DNC would never advance a candidate for president that had been put to a recall in their home state.

I’m optimistic he’ll be gone.

Indubitably!

I hope so. Mister “rules for thee, but not for me” needs to go. CA would do well to start electing more conservative politicians instead of continually electing useless people like Gov Nuisance and watching this state slowly get run into the ground.

The people that actually voted for him still want him. The whiners that didn’t like him from the beginning are the once with the constant BS! No political leader is going to be popular during COVID. He said he’s going to let the Doctors and experts determine how things are done in CA. I know people on here don’t agree but I believe in Science. The ignoring the problem didn’t work for Trump or the 420k people that have died. I had Covid and it was horrible. This is no Flu I can tell you that.

If the people that voted for him still want him, then they haven’t paid any attention to his many legislative abuses. Regardless of party, he has ignored the will of the people who elected him. Releasing violent prisoners, ignoring his pledge to uphold the death penalty, and cheating the state of California by not even paying the transfer tax on the mansion gifted to him. And the list goes on. He is dishonest.

Voters need to be tested and licensed to vote, much the same as we require drivers to be.

A basic competency test, proof of citizenship and age should be a requirement to get a voter ID card… otherwise we will just continue to let morons decide our future.

Dr. J – So if I understand correctly, we need to institute tests in order to determine which voters are eligible? Here’s a list to get started:
1. What is a republican form of government?
2. What is the definition of a felony in California?
3. What is the term of office of a State Senator?
4. What is the county seat of your county?
5. How many votes does California have in the Electoral College?
6. In what Federal Court District do you live?
7. How may the county seat be changed under the Constitution of California?

@ Susan I. ~ I think the questions ought to be more basic & practical to make the prospective voters more aware of the taxes they pay & realize how many times their money is taxed.
Recognize waste and frivolous projects.
Consider how their tax dollars are spent and how raising taxes on the rich or on companies that employ people & produce things raises prices on the products they buy and keeps wages low or simply forces businesses to leave the state.
I also believe everyone who is allowed to vote must be able to speak and read English, otherwise they are not going to know what the hell is going on in this country anyway!
