Was the ContraCostaCounty SIP order extended?
Basically indefinitely now.
Gavin cooks his COVID books at the French Laundry.
Man with all these people dying and moving out, CA might be great again like how it was in the 90s and early 2000s.
Is the vaccine working? After the two doses, can we take off the mask?
Yes, the vaccine is working. You can still catch the virus and it won’t affect you, but you can infect others. So no, for now you can’t take off the mask. It’s just the nature of this disease.
What they’re doing is working ? ? ? ? Really ?
Just for yesterday in CA
47,398 new cases
460 more DEAD
Is this right? Thousand cases in one day?
The numbers show through 1/1 now. I do remember the news saying that there were no reports from some hospitals on New Year’s eve. This increase may be due to the holiday.
@Lauren – The county was very late in releasing the numbers on January 8th. When Claycord pulled the county’s numbers on the 8th they did not notice they were getting the data for January 7th. Thus, we are looking at a two-day shift in the numbers. The correct numbers are:
There were 546 additional active cases reported on January 8th and another 476 active cases for January 9th. That’s why the count jumped by 1,022 cases.
Basic Math anyone?
Occupied ICU beds – 149 (76 COVID patients)
Available ICU beds – 26 (7.7%)
149 + 26 = 175 Total ICU Beds
26 / 175 = 14.85% Available/Total
The website says the same as this report, have no idea how they come up with the 7.7%
Anyone have more info?
Sure Ted – Lost of info for ya !

300,000 deaths divided by 360,000,000 U.S. population = .00083333 % died
@Ted Dooley – Your math seems fine. There is one additional pesky detail where if the percentage of COVID-19 patients is over 30% that they report an adjusted availability percentage. However, the adjusted number should have been 11.0%, not 7.7%. Either the county or Claycord made a mistake.
