Yeah, right. Like any of us believe that you ever left your safe haven of Rossmoor to slum it with us poor folk on the “bad” side of Concord and eat at our “dumpy” KFC, especially when you have two close by that you claim are far superior. I think hiding under your bed is starting to give you dementia.
You’re a snob @ popcorn. I’m sure you’ve never stepped foot into the dumpy KFC. It’s always been clean everytime I’ve gone in.

I have been known to stop there a couple times a year. Actually no one knows, my family thinks the food is bad for you. So I tell no one. I will miss that chicken and biscuit.

Cardenas didn’t survive in that plaza, the old Caffino shack has been empty for years, and now this. I’m sure there will be plenty of people bagging on KFC, but half empty strip malls are becoming common around town and that’s not a good thing.
It was the population that over the years settled around that area that has driven the reputable businesses out. If you remember, Cardenas had to leave because of intolerable rates of theft.
It is DEFINITELY the people in that area that drive businesses away. It is sad for the ones that are not causing it, but when they have to deal with rampant theft, homeless addicts and gangs… they will go elsewhere. The justice warriors complain about “food deserts,” but the only ones to blame are the ones that drive reputable businesses out of there.
Cardena’s was such a great store, always so clean and with such friendly staff. Great prices on many items, great produce… I’m really sad they failed at this location.
They were closing as early as 6pm on a weeknight.. I’d stop by to try and satisfy my chicken strip craving only to be disappointed. Monument corridor is just a dump…. the city needs to revitalize. It speaks VOLUMES when a *GROCERY STORE* (Cardenas) closes after less than a year….
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig. There is no way to fix that place up. It is the people who nearby that are the problem. Too many Section 8. Unless they forcibly move all those folks out, that area will remain a dump.

I remember KFC going in on Monument near Reganti back in the ’60’s, complete with bucket on a pole. Building is now a check cashing place.
I wonder if the one closing near exSafeway/Orchard was the same franchise?

No real loss. That area needs a good cleaning up and refurbishing to attract better businesses. Police presence would not hurt with the shoplifting and vagrancy, plus the homelessness.
No one wants police presence anymore in the Bay Area, you’re on your own.

I was just talking to my sister in law recently, went to this location a few months back thinking it would be fun for the kids and could not believe how expensive it was for what kind of food it is. I was never planning on going back.

This was the worst location out of any Ive ever been to, good riddance they went out of business. Low quality service and employees did them in not losing their lease.
The last few times I went there, there was always a 20-25 minute wait for chicken and this was at 6 in the evening. Place was also rather unclean.
El Pollo Loco nearby did this one in. (They have better food.)

Food was horrible and expensive that the others, Clayton Rd for example. They should put a Popeyes there, the one in concord is so far from where I live.

I thought that evictions were prohibited!? And now you know why the chicken crossed the road!
The mighty Burrito knocks out the tasty drumstick. The Colonel is rolling over in his grave. .
Sad to hear it kicked the bucket.
Hey-o!
Well played
Very “original”
It’s long been common for businesses to use the excuse “Lost our lease” to hide the real reason for closing.
“lost the lease” due to not being able to pay
Rent hike?
That was a dump. I am thankful for KFC in my area that are doing well and is not dumpy like the Monument one was. In fact we have two!
Ilovepopcorn doesn’t want anything to do with those people on Monument.

There used to be a Popeye’s in Park & Shop but they didn’t last.
Glad to hear it! The “Now Hiring” sign was up for 5 years straight! It will finally be removed, along with the dump of a fast food restaurant!
The 76 station has had the same help wanted sign in the window for 30 years,as nobody ever stays there long

To prove to the possum that it CAN be done!
