GameStop is closing two stores in Contra Costa County.

The GameStop on Ygnacio Valley Rd. in Concord (Clayton Valley Shopping Center), and the GameStop on Contra Costa Blvd. (Pleasant Hill Plaza, near Target) will close by the end of January, according to store employees.

GameStop announced last month they would be closing up to 450 stores nationwide.

Best I can do is $5 for in-store credit.

Good, they have so many horrible practices. If you need video games, i would recommend Phoenix games on Clayton road in Concord. Super friendly and helpful staff, pinball machines, and tons of cool gaming things. Also would be supporting a small business!

And what would those bad practices be? Are you speaking on behalf of all GameStop’s or those particular locations? Phoenix games is a great place. Nice to see retro stuff but not a whole lot of your current gen stuff. You’ll still get similar trade in values as they need to profit for themselves as well, so……

I agree with Brian. Phoenix Games is super friendly, pinball all day WITH a quarter machine, just about any games you’d want for any system, and I’ve known them to hold competitions pertaining to various games. If they added on a comics/gaming memorabilia section I can’t say I’d ever have much reason to leave.

as a gamestop employee, corp treats us like garbage, ever since the covid outbreak things have gotten worse than ever before. they dont care about anything but making money. it has nothing to do with those locations, it has everything to do with corporate

Good riddance, honestly gamestop has been screwing with customers for the longest time and it’s about time they go out of business. Hopefully they go the way of RadioShack. Shout out to Phoenix games

Game Over is more like it!

I love how people are bashing gamestop stores when it’s not really their fault. It comes from corporate not at store locations. Most store employees are actually extremely friendly. The one in concord off ygnacio the manager is super cute and the employees are very friendly. The one in Pleasant hill i wasn’t treated the greatest. But others were friendly.

Game Stop did it to themselves.

They’re like any college bookstore. Expensive to buy & cheap when you re-sell back to them.

Customers went somewhere else once other options became available.
