CONVID miraculously wiped out influenza for 2020!!!
I have updated the graphs at https://imgur.com/a/Tz5FnIq
I think we are running into testing capacity issues which will limit the number of new cases reported per day. While we could get around that by paying attention to the positivity rate the county has never released any data that explains who or why they are testing and the results from each group. Thus, we don’t know if a rise or fall in the positivity reflects a rise or fall of COVID-19 in the community or a shift in focus for who the county is testing for COVID-19.
It also used to be that within three or four days of a particular day that the number of new cases for the day would settle down to the more or less final value for that day. Now it’s taking seven or more days for the bulk of the tests for a day to get processed.
I added a second graph to https://imgur.com/a/Tz5FnIq to see if there is a relationship between the number of tests per day and the number of cases. It’s inconclusive. While there was a relationship up to mid-August, according to the 7-day averages, the number of cases went down and then back up while the testing increased throughout.
At this point, I still can’t understand why a common sense approach hasn’t been implemented – ie: cv-19 vulnerable stay home vs everyone staying at home. Let’s use all the stimulus money thrown at EVERYONE making below a certain $ range – and use it towards supporting those who NEED to stay home and are vulnerable to cv-19. We’ve had a year now to figure out better ways of managing this. I still can’t understand why shoe repair shops are banned. Seriously, they’re banned under new rules. No business should close, operate smart – safe. Do not stop operating your business. If people can pack in shoulder to shoulder on a plane for hours, you should be able to operate your business.
