Covered California is extending the open-enrollment deadline for health care coverage for two weeks amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Consumers will have until Dec. 30 to sign up for coverage that begins on Jan. 1, 2021.

The unprecedented extension comes as COVID-19 infections and deaths are surging across California and the country.

More than 1.2 million Californians are uninsured right now, even though they are eligible for financial help from Covered California, or low-cost or no-cost coverage through Medi-Cal.

Consumers who sign up by Dec. 30 will need to pay their first bill in order to have their coverage take effect on Jan. 1.

Go directly to an insurance company, you will save money.

Not true! What insurance company?

Not true. The unsubsidized rates via Covered CA are same if you go directly to insurance company for the same plan. However, you may find other choices of plans going directly to insurance company, with a few other price point options.

Didn’t leave “The Tarnished Golden State” because of Biden/Harris ticket but because of Grusome Newsom and the Liberal Cafornians who keep voting increases in taxes to fund various social services, education, transportation projects like Bart, bridges, highways, buses that have been funded multiple times already with tax payers $$$. There is something definitely wrong when you can’t pay for something with tax payers money and you keep increasing taxes and the public vote for it. Californians already pay some of the highest taxes in the nation including gas taxes. I paid $1.95 per gallon of gas yesterday and the roads are in pretty damn good condition. Not sure what’s wrong out there but don’t think the state is in control of there finances so let’s increases taxes. Only recourse is say goodby to California, like I did, and don’t miss it one damn bit.

“eligible for financial help from Covered California”… yeah the $35 off the expensive ass cheapest insurance I get is a real help…
