The following statement is from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff:

“Since the pandemic began, the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office has focused on public safety and  that includes doing our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19. We have stressed education and voluntary compliance. A citation is only a last resort and we will refer repeat offending persons and businesses to the District Attorney, as we were forced to do in the case of a Richmond church in April.”

With all the crime in Richmond, you guys are harassing a Church. Lol
Sheriff probably scared to go after real criminals.

Lol so true!

I wish we had a sheriff like some of these other ones in CA that are openly saying they will not take away our rights and freedoms. Those guys have balls.
There’s no science to lock downs or school closures
If the politicians really believed Covid was as scary as they say they wouldn’t be at the French laundry ect

Would have been better if the CCSO exercised their right to remain silent on this one.

They aren’t laws……

@ Mike

Police officers do this every day deciding to give you a break or not so is that juvenile and hypocritical as well? When you don’t get that ticket do you spew that line of crap to him/her? Just wondering…

, If the state can pick and choose what laws to enforce, i.e. immigration laws, why can’t the police pick and choose what laws to enforce?
By the way, police agencies swear an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Think about the First Amendment.

Health department doesn’t make laws. Governors don’t make laws. Stop calling these laws. They are not. No citations will be paid, as there is no crime committed.

Blame the public school system for idiots not knowing the difference between a law and illegal unconstitutional dictates. The Sheriff should arrest himself or some brave low level sheriff should arrest him. Citizens arrest is probably how this will have to go down. It’s a simple thing, but would take a huge amount of courage. I may be willing if forced.

Just remember, All laws repugnant to the constitution are null and void.
Supreme Court ruling (1803) Marbury vs. Madison

Who said anything about that mike. Are you also in PANIC about tomorrow mornings Supreme Court deadline?

💥💥Justice Alito has just moved response deadline up from Wednesday at 4pm to Tuesday at 9am on the emergency application seeking to have The Supreme Court declare that PA mail-in ballot system adopted by legislature violated the state constitution…

Well said Mike. the Sheriff’s Office has a history of working with their partnering county offices like Health Services. Imagine the mess it would make if they were to be butting heads with them and help sow seeds of doubt against the office that’s already taking flak from the public.

Just another Liberal politician in office. I back the Blue. But I will draw a line in the sand. If they cross it. They are fair game.

Contra Costa Sheriff; to bad you don’t have the balls of the Southern California Sheriffs. You should think more of the people you serve rather than the greaseball governor. No more votes for you.

Far short of the excellent statement put out by the Orange County CA Sheriff. The CoCoCo statement isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

Can’t wait for the next election for County Sheriff. Remember 2020.

I don’t trust anyone making, supporting, or enforcing these health orders who is not willing to go without pay and medical benefits for the duration of the lockdown. They should also be forced to find new work, just like many of us who suffer the consequences of their actions.

Livingston, this is very disappointing.

You will have an easier time becoming AG if you fought for the people.

I messaged the Sheriff yesterday requesting that he follow the stand taken by other California Sheriffs in defending our constitutional rights, as he has taken an oath to do. This is a very disappointing response.

Well it looks like the sheriff’s deputies did not take an oath to uphold the Constitution. They would have made great Nazis

You have the left wanting to defend the police and now you will lose all support from those who used to have your back if you decide to bend the knee to the robbing Americans of their freedoms. The SoCal sherif is the only one with the backbone to stand up for whats right while you boast about shutting down a church…. you’ve lost support on both sides now.

Livingston is a joke. All around us you can get CCW’s as a business owner transporting cash and goods, yet not in CCC. I can’t WAIT to vote him out of office, as thousands of others of us in this county. Sorry guy, buh bye. You work for us, not the other way around.

mike , I finally figured you out .you post these crazy comments to rile people up thinking you are wacko liberal . II think you are just the opposite . I will read your comments with a smile and a laugh and appreciate your humor .good job!

Theyre signing their own pink slips. The DA wont prosecute criminals but they will prosecute law aiding citizens who open a restaurant wont wear a mask or are out past 10……. I really hope they audit our elections here, this is complete BS and we need an intervention……not a dem liberal intervention either. No one trusts anything out of their mouths. No integrity, no morals, no care for us common folks. We run this place not them, lets get them out now. Sign me up!

@ Mike

IT’S NOT A LAW!! Show me the penal code section for your supposed law!

He won’t, because he can’t. And I’m sure he was fine with Newsom and mayors refusing to uphold National laws…… and he calls others hypocrites. 🤦🏻‍♂️

There are different kinds of laws. Some, like the Penal code, are statutes adopted by the state legislature. Others are executive orders like those enacted by the governor. There are local resolutions and ordinances enacted by county boards and city councils. Then there are health and safety orders adopted by local health officers pursuant to the authority granted to them by the state legislature under the Health and Safety Code. These health and safety orders are LAWS. That is how government and law works.

Look I know you are following state guidance but follow San Mateo and LA Sheriffs. They will not police small businesses especially those that have spent money to stay within compliance. I have not heard of a case in restaurants, hair salons or even Drive in theatres for crying out loud. It is the those who have large gatherings in their homes or venues like backyard parties. Punish them but not businesses that drive our economy.

Exactly

I thought these rules weren’t laws. Gruesome doesn’t have the authority to pass laws.

California’s new state motto….”Land where law-abiding citizens are prosecuted and criminals go free”

I guess they found your price. You are a sell out.
You just lost our vote.

Well look what we have here, anybody else notice that Dominion voting machines were used in Contra Costa County?

So no arrests for looting and vandalizing. No arrests for breaking into cars. But we will give you a ticket or a nice comfy jail cell if you do this.

We need to clean up so much here, including people’s minds.

“I back the blue” until it actually inconveniences me. Then I draw a line in the sad. What a bunch of hypocrites

You must be a liberal. You can’t even spell correctly. Not when it inconveniences me. Some cities or county law enforcement are not worth a dam to back. Like Law Enforcement in Contra Costa County, San Jose and San Francisco. They have no balls to arrest rioters.

@Towgunner Damn not dam speaking of spelling smart guy.

“…. we will refer repeat offending persons and businesses to the District Attorney,…” Umm, NEWFLASH, courts are closed!
It makes the blood boil thinking how noncompliance towards these “health orders” could have someone be referred to the District Attorney but all these past years we have seen no stern prosecution toward criminals who should have to face the DA. Crime rates have been increasing exponentially in the Bay Area and we citizens have been exposing ourselves to violence in a constant basis but the criminals have NEVER been given lockdown orders.
Locking down productive citizens while freeing worthless criminals…twisted logic!

They are not following state guidelines! Our County shut down even though our ICU’s are currently at 40%! So Businesses that are being safe have been singled out without any rationalization. Go into a major chain store and there are hundreds of people in there. There is no way that is safer than a 2 person solon or reduced capacity gym.

… and as the number of open stores decreases, the number of people in any given open store increases. This is so obvious that it should not have to be stated. To paraphrase C.S. Lewis, “What do they teach them in the schools these days?”

Being retired from CCCSO I know most of the deputies. And I can assure you, unless the brass is in the car the with them, they WILL NOT be enforcing this BS!

Thank you, I almost want to think that even the sherriff just said what they wanted to hear but really, at this time and place in history, it would have been nice to see he actually had a backbone and not bend over, especially after they pissed on all the law enforcement agencies to appease the ‘protesters’

Them folks clinging to their religion, must be dangerous.

During 1918 outbreak Churches were told to leave windows and doors open.
Guess back then politicians and bureaucrats had actually read, understood and followed The Constitution and it’s Amendments.

In many part of the country, churches actually were ordered to close during the 1918 pandemic. Sermons were printed in local papers. Other churches printed sermons, Bible versus and local announcements in pamphlets delivered to members of their congregation.

There were pastors who offered their churches to be used for recovering patients, since the churches were not being used for religious services.

“Compliance with health orders is a matter of personal responsibility and not a matter of law enforcement”

“To put the onus on law enforcement to enforce these orders against law-abiding citizens who are already struggling through difficult circumstances, while at the same time criticizing law enforcement and taking away our tools to do our jobs is both contradictory and disingenuous”
— Orange County Sheriff

“As we are forced to do so” got it 10-4 bud. I’m so happy we have this little thing called the Constitution. What. A. Coward.

Let’s MAKE SURE we ELECT A NEW SHERIFF!

Exactly. We need to find a conservative to run though.

@ Richard
Why have so many people in LTC homes tested positive for the virus? Nevada City just had big outbreak in one. Sadly, many people caught it and died. EVERYONE is wearing masks in there … hmmm 🤔

Wearing a mask doesn’t protect you. You need to wash your hands frequently too. Even if you do both of those things, you can still contract COVID-19 or any other cold or flu.

To support the same politics that support defunding the police is sad. Stand up for the citizens don’t be a puppet.

I will not vote for a sheriff who refuses to protect my constitutional rights. I can’t believe this puppet is on Newsom’s chain. What a tool.

What kind of American Sheriff are you? And what perks are YOU receiving? You’re disgusting.

Did you ever think you would see the day when US government would turn against its citizens?

– locking them down
– shutting down their businesses
– withholding medicines
– favoring illegals over citizens
– selling out to communists.

Well here we are.

Actually, yes, I’ve been warned since childhood that this day was coming.

Good way to lose the last remaining support you had in ca. Good luck. Will not comply

This is awkward, I seem to have been cloned.

@New Sam
First, Are you my AI chat bot clone?
Second, I take enough heat here for my opinions. How will anyone know who is who. Although you are off to a great start and I agree with both your posts.

Thank you, sheriff, for making it clear which side you’re on. We will remember when the next election rolls around to vote for someone who supports the US Constitution.

I 100% support the sheriff’s enforcement of the restrictions to slow the spread of this deadly virus, you have support.

I agree with you 100%

You Dennis P might want to look up the term PERSEC.

“Ve vere only following orders!”

Ja!

Yeah he supports the side that cares about peoples health and safety. How dare he!

In the article, it says it is “voluntary compliance”. If it’s voluntary, how can they issue a citation?

If you’re not dead by then, not obeying the recommendations…

Now I see why people want to defund the Police… evidently they are not with us, they are against us.
