The order will last until January 4, 2021 at 6 a.m.
At this point let’s just all pack up and leave the state. Whether you agree or disagree, I think most of us have done the right thing and we still have to shut the county down.
I already did. California has gotten out of control.
Moved out of state at end of Oct. after 51 yrs of living in the Diablo Valley. My wife and I both grew up here, met, married and raised our family here, it was extremely tough to go. We just had enough of the prices, politics and general decay of what it once was. I will truly miss the beauty of the the Bay Area but sadly it’s beauty has been overshadowed by what it’s become. I hope it some day turns around. We just don’t have that long to wait.
@Ripley, where did you move to?
@will – Texas, DFW area.
@will – Texas, DFW area. We have relatives here.
If someone had told you in January where we would find ourselves today, how fast would you have them admitted for a 72 hr psych hold?
Bob: you mean I’m not?!?
😂
Unfortunately with 72-hour psych holds, they normally turn into about 5 days they keep you, so its never just 72 hours anymore. Dont do it, its a nightmare and will make your life much much worse.
After it’s extended far beyond Jan. 4….They’ll institute an even more restrictive plan, afterall, we have all been so accepting of the loss of Freedom, what’s a bit more to lose? Our unbridled, illogical fear will just perpetuate their power grab, until We become courageous enough to VOTE THEM ALL OUT.
With the current level of abuse, I’m not sure we can wait for the next election.
Event 201 videos on YouTube told us this Plandemic Scamdemic was going to happen. Welcome to The Great Reset folks! Don’t forget to be a good little sheep!
The county needs to show the state they, the health officials EXPERTS, are playing their part in this fake pandemic so that the county gets funding.from the state. Get it!!!
Fake pandemic? So who are all these people in ICU’s – paid actors?
Chuq- 1. There are not “All of the these people” in ICUs. I know people who work in local hospitals. They are not near capacity. The Health Officers chose to enact the lockdown anyway.
2. You DO know the news lies, right?
3. People who are in ICU’s are there for a myriad of reasons just as they have always been.
4. Wake up, please. We need you.
No camping 😂 😂
Someone said it…Gruesome Newsome. People need to work. What are they going to do. There are plenty of ways to stay open. I think many have learned how to, OPEN OPEN OPEN!!!
20% capacity for grocery stores???? At Christmas? Get ready to stand outside in the cold for a hour just to get inside. We need a dry and warm December.
l’m starting to think some people may hear 20% capacity and think it means 20% of normal. They are not the same thing. The capacity of a Safeway is huge. Unless Safeway has been packing people in all these years in violation of the Fire Marshall’s maximum capacity, I have never in my long life been in a Safeway at capacity, even at their busiest.
Some businesses flirt with their maximum capacities, others are viable at closer to zero percent capacity. Staples on Treat Blvd stays in business without apparently ever reaching more than about 5% capacity. They would have to double their staff if they were lucky enough to reach 20% capacity.
Sometimes I’ll try and hit Safeway after work, but see they are “busy”, probably meaning 40-50% capacity, and because – pandemic – I just go later when they’re probably at more like 5% capacity.
I know not everyone is as lucky to have that flexibility, but if everyone who CAN avoid crowds just does so, the store traffic can be distributed more evenly over the store hours, instead of having “rush hours” which I believe is what they are trying to prevent for the pandemic.
We have gone from 1776 and red coats to 2020 and white coats. Time to rise up and reassert our freedom. Our final move out of state is set for next week and will require one overnight stay while on the road. But it now looks like we will spend that night sleeping in the truck as Newscum and his Health Nazis are trying to restrict our free travel. So if you must…get sick…and get over it or this will be the ‘New Normal’.
@Rolaids
Good thinking. Let’s thin the crowds by opening more stores with longer hours rather than cramming people into fewer stores with hours that are curtailed by curfews.
@ Martin. Aye. I understand the part about grocery stores and other retail having shortened hours because now those same workers have the additional burden of deep cleaning everything every single day, those hours have to come from somewhere. BUT, anytime I hear about curfews, I’m like nooooo… all that does is cram everybody together in a shortened time frame. That is the OPPOSITE of what should happen. If anything, the gubmit should encourage businesses to be open as long as possible to thin the crowds out.
I walk the Canal Trail for exercise and sanity. When this all began, the trails, parks, and open spaces were packed with suddenly stir-crazy families. So I started going at night. To socially distance. A curfew would make my socially distancing behavior illegal.
We all must not follow these mandates. The can not contol us all. If they fine you dont pay. Protect yourself and your family how you see fit. Take some personal responsibility for you and your and loved ones. We are being ordered around by elected officials. They work for us, not the other way around. It is insane that this has been aloud to continue. They will never relinquish this power again. Yes they may relax the rules at some point but we will forever live under the threat these lockdowns. Its a punishment. Look at these ridiculous rules. No camping? No drive ins?
Why close movie drive-ins and outdoor dining while allowing places of worship to operate outdoors (larger numbers would be present than outdoor dining) and preschools that already opened while exposing children and their teachers to the virus. I’m confused. Either be logical in what to shut off/not shut off or just keep everything The way it is rn and providing more funding to the hospitals.
We have the right to worship and assemble peaceably according to the Constitution. This is another power trip by Newsom and the unelected health departments. They’ll never give up their salaries, but expect you to just roll over. (Check out their salaries on transparentcalifornia.com.) The Board of Supervisors are in lockstep with the health department. Farnitano is a little tyrant. Newsom needs federal dollars, so he doesn’t care if he breaks the state. He is an abysmal governor.
None of the “guidelines” make any sense. Theyre inconsistent, and they pick winners and losers. They’re not laws, and these guys try to rule by fiat. They may as well be labeled suggestions.
The county health department cannot restrict our movement, per the Constitution.
@ Me
Arbitrary and capricious is the term you are looking for, perhaps even oxymoronic.
In addition to your questions, I add:
Why can grocery stores and inside malls remain open at 20 percent capacity but Churches have to hold services outdoors and have unlimited capacities?
Why can grocery stores and inside malls remain open at 20% but indoor museums and exhibit spaces must close?
Why can Churches hold unlimited worship outdoors but outdoor playgrounds must close?
Why were restaurants previously only allowed outside table service yet they were permitted to erect tents to have table service inside of?
The orders are a list of contradictions and for people who say well they are “essential” and therefor are exempt, I say but what about the 14th Amendment and equal protection under the law for all business even those deemed non-essential?
If a grocery store AND churches are essential, how can you lawfully have different rules for secular and non-secular entities?
It would seem that either groceries stores could operate at unlimited capacity outdoors or Churches should be allowed to operate at 20% indoors. Another alternative would be for groceries stores to operate unlimited outside and bring in one person at a time to shop indoor. The same restrictions imposed upon another essential entity. Equal protection and equal enforcement of the fiats.
I think this will be the death blow to many of the small business in this area. Stop people from thriving for a virus that 2-4% of the population test positive for (2% in CCC), and that has lead to death in 0.5%.(0.02% in CCC) of the population. I hope these business can hold out; I am not looking forward to all the “For Lease” signs on vacated buildings lining our streets. On a somewhat different note, under what regulation/law is the Health Services department appointee (not elected) permitted to “Order” (once free) citizens to not go about their lives?
I find it appalling that a government entity can force people to close their private businesses and have their ability to earn a living stripped from them. This seems to me like a “taking,” given that the economic loss is huge, and even worse if the businesses go under.
@Yves, that is why all of the “orders” are unconstitutional under the takings clause of the US Constitution. No business owner should follow any of these “orders”.
@Jeff. You are correct. That is their goal – to destroy the economy and make people desperate to join the “Great Reset” (fka Agency 21). People will trade in any last remnant of freedom for a meal.
So, does that mean we can’t spend Christmas 2020 with our families?
The hubby, the child and I were planning to spend Christmas Day at my mother’s house…which is an hour away from home. My mom was hoping to spend her last Christmas at her current residence with her children and their families before her house is put on the market.
You need to visit your mom. Don’t let the fear and control the government pushes on you win. This is your personal life, not the governments.
Resist now….
The Sheriffs of Orange, Riverside and Los Angeles counties have all said they will not enforce Comrade Gavin’s latest tyrannical lockdown “order”. The Orange County Sheriff’s statement is the best, I urge everyone to read it:
https://www.ocsheriff.gov/news/statement-sheriff-don-barnes-modified-stay-home-orders
“Let me be clear- this is a matter of personal responsibility and not a matter of law enforcement. Orange County Sheriff’s deputies will not be dispatched to, or respond to, calls for service to enforce compliance with face coverings, social gatherings, or stay-at-home orders only. Deputies will respond to calls for potential criminal behavior and for the protection of life or property. ”
Too bad the Contra Costa County Sheriff doesn’t have a backbone like the Orange County Sheriff does. ALL of these “orders” from Newsome and the various unelected health bureaucrats are UNCONSTITUTIONAL and should not be followed at all.
The order will last until January 4, 2021, at 6 a.m.
At the very least. I suspect it will last a lot longer.
Welcome to the new normal.
The order will last until January 4, 2021 at 6 a.m., why not just say indefinitely. Because that is more true than January 4th at 6 a.m.
They don’t care how many rights they’re taking away from you or how inconvenient this is for you OR if you even have lost income. It’s not affecting them. They DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU!
Those residents who do leave their homes must wear a yellow star on their jackets or face stiff punishment.
This is the last nail in the coffin for small business.
The next step will be to raise taxes to make up for the lost revenue.
Jeff Bezos will have all the money.
The government comes in to “save” us
Then we will all be at their mercy 100%.
Welcome communism.
CDC’s survival rate by age
0-19 99.997%
20-49 99.98%
50-69 99.5%
70 + 94.6%
Keep on walking folks. Nothing to see here.
Madness this is madness. In the city of Walnut Creek one person not in long term care has died from this virus since it started.
Once again an iota of maturity you seem to be out of touch with reality.
BERLIN (Reuters) – German leaders came out on Monday in favour of stricter measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus, a few days after the country posted its highest one-day death toll so far.
Enough people refused to wear masks so the virus spreads which led to stricter restrictions. Blame the anti-maskers.
There is evidence masks aren’t that effective. Check out the Danish mask study and Alex Berenson’s unreported truths booklets on Amazon. I trust this info more than anything the politicians say. I think it’s all about CYA for them.
Of course. And last Summer researchers found out that the onslaught of the regular flu that medical facilities expected and feared would also contributing to the massive overload and shortages of care and resources didn’t materialize. The only thing they could find that was different from any other flu season was the extra hand washing, social distancing, and mask wearing. BTW, in several Asian countries it has been typical for several years to see people out and about wearing masks when they’re feeling as though they might be catching or have caught something contagious. It’s just something normal for people who care about others.
IOTA – here we are again….
Actually, many places HAVE NOT dealt “aggressively” with the virus and are living normally. How do you not know this?
Oh, I know. Please, turn off the news. You are brainwashed.
If I want to buy an airline ticket and go visit my family in Florida that is allowed. If I want to have my daughter to my house for Christmas that is not allowed.
THIS IS ENOUGH. A DAMN JOKE.
As I have been stating: CONVID has seemingly eradicated the flu!!! https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/weeklyarchives2020-2021/data/whoAllregt_phl48.html
Shame on Roth & Farnitano – the rally is coming to your homes next.
Actually, kind of yes. For over a half century I have reliably gotten a handful of flues/colds throughout the year. Since wearing a mask in March, I have been healthy as a horse. I blame the mask. I believe the mask has prevented me from catching my usual bugs from the public. I have mentioned this to many people, and have been told by many that they are having the same experience. I used to think people that wore masks outside of an operating room was a little overkill, but I cannot quibble with my anecdotal results. A simple, low tech mask seems to be very efficacious in preventing transmission of respiratory pathogens. Not exactly a major revelation, but a large number of people seem to remain unconvinced.
Maybe you’ve been healthy as a horse because you’re not gathering with other people and not going anywhere. It’s hard to catch a virus from others if you’re not around them. It could have nothing to do with your mask. If masks protected people from a cold, flu, etc. you would see more masked people during non-Covid times.
Any politician caught breaking their own covid lockdown rules should be forced to resign.
Here ya go !
https://recallgavin2020.com/
Could end up with more cases as people partying will stay over until next morning, an they will have enough booze and pot to last them.
We’re being told cloth masks and six feet apart were adequate protection.
An how’s that curve flattening doing ? ? ?
WHY didn’t they ramp up manufacture and distribution of N95 masks,
ya know the ones 95% effective at preventing virus getting into your lungs.
So Raley’s/Nob Hill can’t make up their minds whether we can use our own shopping bags or not. For awhile they’ve allowed us to bring our own bags but now they are saying “no” again. Very annoying.
Such is life in a covidiocracy. @_@
The places that are close to normal or normal
Australia (intense lockdown for 6-8 weeks) now fine
New Zealand locked down and now fine (island is not the only reason, the biggest is the people bought in and wore masks instead of arguing it and making it worse)
South Korea- their 1st case was the same day as ours. They have 550 dead….
Vietnam-No lockdown because people knew to wear masks and distance instead of doing whatever they wanted
China- MASSIVE lockdown and mask mandate.
Everyone here that argues lockdowns or masks….guess what, we are here because of you and your spread of misinformation and ignorance. This is your fault. Stop spreading your nonsense ideas and if you had done what we needed, we would be fine.
BUT NO you need your FroYo, so here we are… Thanks
I am so sick of hearing about people’s rights! What about our right to not having our health and safety endangered by others? And what about the rights of all the doctors and nurses working 3 shifts and still having to watch their patients die day after day? What about the rights of the 250,000 families that have lost loved ones, and in many cases multiple loved ones? But I suppose the stress they go through pales in comparison to the stress some people feel if they have to put on a mask and skip a few parties.
And, yes, Contra Costa has been lucky so far. But a lot of other counties and states had been lucky in the past and things changed in an instant.
Also, officials are not shutting things down. The virus is shutting things down. The officials are just the middlemen. And in the cases where shutting down didn’t work it was because so many people didn’t comply. The experience on the ground has been that cases have gone down when people have done mask wearing and social distancing, and cases have gone up where people have not worn masks and still gathered. I don’t understand why so many people do not understand that simple, basic logic. It’s not rocket science.
Dianne – step away from the Kool-Aid…..
@Rae Dio,
You can’t save her. She’s already too far gone.
@Rae Rio and Chicken Little
Please stop being dismissive to Dianne because you have a different view, everyone’s opinion is why we like to read this blog.
@Dianne
Totally agree with your statement. Very well put.
Please Maturity, for my friends and I. Give us a list of those countries that are living normally right now after having aggressively dealt with Covid.
My retort to the Excramento Nazis.
So both you and Yogurt would support Trump taking the exact same measures those countries you listed used.
The President should immediately close all of our ports of entry including our 7500 miles of border with Canada and Mexico.
Take a zero tolerance approach and aggressive enforcement action. Immediately closing down churches, bars, restaurants and prohibiting all protests.
Enact a strict 76 day lockdown where public transportation is closed and only one member of each household is permitted to leave the home every couple of days to collect necessary supplies.
Use facial recognition software to scan security cameras feeds, use cell phone GPS and credit card receipts for contact – tracing.
The use of drones equipped with echoing loudspeakers rebuked citizens who were not following the rules.
Establishing heath checkpoints at public transportation hubs.
Establish a state quarantine to prevent citizens from moving from state to state.
Now tell me how our political parties, the news and people in general would have reacted. (We will ignore that the President doesn’t actually have the legal authority to do most of this or how it would be enforced.)
So maturity
What happened with all those other countries who aggressively dealt with the disease? I thought that was the example to follow? You did point that out with the inference that if we would have followed their example we would be living normally now.
So what if Biden were President? Would it be okay then? Would you support Biden following those countries example of how to deal with Covid?
If it is okay with Biden in the White House and not Trump, how could you possibly justify the deaths of all those poor souls between now and when Trump leaves office? Does not every life matter?
If it’s not okay regardless of who occupies the White House, then what was the point of bring up aggressively dealing with the disease by other countries and living normally?
