A juvenile male was arrested this afternoon after an armed robbery at Newhall Park in Concord, according to the Concord Police.

At about 12 p.m., police responded to Clayton Valley Charter High School after receiving a call about an armed robbery with a gun that occurred at Newhall Park.

After the robbery, the suspect ran to the high school.

With the assistance of the Clayton Police Department, the suspect was located on the school campus and arrested without incident, police said.

The school issued a lock-down while our officers were on scene.

This story seems weird. Did he rob one of the blatantly obvious drug dealers that hang around there? Y’know, the ones that everyone knows about except the cops. Or was it an average person out walking their dog? Most people in that park are just walking for exercise. They don’t look like they’re carrying a lot of cash. More details are needed.

I only take my slim wallet with just my ID and nothing else when i go hiking or walking/jogging at parks just for this reason. They are not gonna get anything from me!

First offense?

Just send him home with a note from his teacher.

According to Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton if he needed the items or money he gets a free pass. The days where one would work hard for a living and had pride are long gone. Welcome to the end of a civilized society.

Anyone reading this or did not vote in the election two years ago, where Diana becton was able to skirt into office by just a few dozen votes are to blame. I know good people that did not vote in that election saying that it didn’t matter. But George Soros gave $200,000 to becton’s campaign and the money got her in because some of you sat at the sidelines and did not vote against her.
Paul Graves was a much better choice and he would be protecting us citizens now.
Well, what good are laws you have a district attorney that refuses to apply them?

Why does that even matter? This has nothing to do with either subjects.

I witnessed a young Asian male out of breathe talking to the police. He may have been the one that was robbed.

It’s awful to hear about this. We walk that park a lot and it’s mostly regular people just out getting exercise. Ya there are some druggies and, occasionally, a homeless guy. But mostly it’s just neighborhood people walking dogs and enjoying the park. Sure hope it doesn’t turn into a crime area – that would be a shame. We know nothing will be done to stop it if punks start attacking people. They have all the rights, you know. Not us.

@ash both groups are completely unrelated to the article. Sounds like you’ve got an ash to grind.

Badge1104,
Not that I’m a fan of our DA, and I’m and I serenely did vote for him but it was a Judge that is make her let these criminals off the hook.

LOL! Snickerdad is snickered/smashed. That’s hilarious!

Everyone should read the preceding article, where it states a judge did ask for fewer misdemeanor prosecutions, to reduce the court’s caseload.
“Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton said Tuesday that her office has been working to reduce the number of misdemeanor cases it prosecutes. That effort came after the presiding Contra Costa County Superior Court judge asked Becton to cut back on such filings to help reduce the court’s caseload.

Becton told the county Board of Supervisors her office has stopped prosecuting many “low-level” cases like minor drug possession or first-time theft offenses involving items worth $300 or less.”

So was the juvenile suspect a student at the school?

… and the school is at least a mile away. Is the school even open? That park is used by many, many people. We need more specific info on what happened so we can decide whether to continue going there.

The school is a block away from the park and can be accessed through an easement from the end of Academy Road to Brook Hollow Court.

I live near the park. I’ve walked to the shopping center at Clayton/Alberta. I’ve never had to run since I haven’t robbed anyone at gunpoint, but it is not a block away.

The distance from the margin of the park to the nearest entrance to the school stadium is 325 yards.

Yes the school was open for small cohort groups of students distance learning from the classroom.

Yet another example of being able to do anything you want if you are a leftist or apparently part of the entitlement crowd. Recall BECTON NOW!

“And everyone did what was right in their own eyes”

BTW- It didn’t turn out well back then, and it won’t turn out well now. When the courts, prosecutors and police do nothing, the result is anarchy and vigilantism. I’m thinking we might see neighborhood watch programs, Florida-Style!

His mom said he didn’t do anything and is a good boy.

This would have never happened if he was in class.

Open up the schools.

thats crazy I was just there yesterday jogging at least they caught this worthless scumbag and they want to defund police… sigh…. This is why we need them to catch low life’s like this. Wish the article said what part of newhall this happend.

Went to the school the other day. Lots of gates opened. Not much security walking around. A few students sitting here and there. I hope they beef up the security there now!
