Walnut Creek Police arrested a Pittsburg man on attempted murder, robbery and assault charges after a shooting at Motel 6 on M. Main St. on Saturday.
The following information is from the Walnut Creek Police Dept.:
On November 14, 2020 at 9:37 a.m., the Walnut Creek Police Department received a 911 call regarding a person who had been shot inside a motel room on the 2300 block of N. Main Street.
Walnut Creek Police officers responded to the scene and located one person suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
The victim was transported to John Muir Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Walnut Creek Police officers and detectives developed information that the suspect, Dashon Banks 1/8/90, was still on scene inside a motel room. The Central County SWAT Team, a tactical team comprised of members from Walnut Creek PD, San Ramon PD, Martinez PD, BART PD, and Pleasant Hill PD, responded to the scene to assist. Walnut Creek Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Banks and search warrants for two motel rooms. At approximately 3:00 p.m., Central County SWAT served the warrants and took Banks into custody without incident. Banks was later booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on the following charges: Attempted Murder – 664/187 PC, Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 245 PC, and Robbery – 211 PC.
Based on the information obtained thus far, detectives believe this is an isolated incident and do not believe there is an active threat to the community.
If anyone has information regarding this incident, please call Detective Gerstner at 925-256-3578.
Dashon needs to dash on to prison. Robbing someone at Motel 6 early in the morning? Drug related?
Okay so now I get the protests last night. Little commies mad because the cops dare to arrest a killer. Watch these clowns roll on each other. They don’t even realize they are pre programmed to self destruct.
Well at least they arrested him. Why they needed a warrant is beyond comprehension. Actually needing a warrant in this situation is scary. The police are spooked.
Are people going to blame Biden?
Yes you brought it up. We’ll just see more of this with the Harris Biden administration. People will be so sick of it, that they’ll yearn for the ‘good old days of Trump’.
Some of that may begin on February 20th in Biden said he’s going to reverse all of Trump’s tax breaks. Yeah, those are the ones that saved the average person about $200 a month. Wait till people are short of that amount and see how happy they are to pay for the Democrats new progressive agenda.
Of course not, Joe suggest people get shot in the leg. And this criminal shot the other guy in the leg just like Joe advises. Yay Joe!
Joe did literally side with violent rioters attacking federal buildings in Oregon, saying the “police become the problem” as terrorists were blinding those same federal and state officers with high-powered laser pointers. It’s a fact, mang.
Nice work, WCPD! Thanks.
“The Central County SWAT Team, a tactical team comprised of members from Walnut Creek PD, San Ramon PD, Martinez PD, BART PD, and Pleasant Hill PD, responded to the scene to assist.”
That’s a large response. Also, why did they need a warrant to arrest/search? Wasn’t there probable cause?
Perhaps they were being mindful of who voters gave them for a district attorney.
It’ll probably come out later he was on either parole or probation.
I think they need a search warrant to search the premises, and an arrest warrant to enter the dwelling — under the Fourth Amendment.
There will soon be a statement from Gavin Newsome and local politicians decrying the unjust apprehension of this outstanding citizen. They will blame the incident on Trump’s rhetoric of division (as if Trump was the first and only president we ever have. Other presidents and politicians have contributed to the breakdown of society) and will make sure Mr. Banks gets bank while incentivizing other criminals to follow his example.
I got a speeding ticket on N. Main and pulled into the lot at the motel. Cop kept his flashing reds on the whole time. Was 6am in the morning, and everyone sleeping there was peeking out the curtains. I kept slouching lower and lower.
This is a perfect repose to that protest yesterday in walnut creek. Amazing job those people did burning flags and saying those useless chants. So we wana de-fund police and say no justice no peace….
So are you gona ask for this guy to be set free now???
Bet the guy wishes he’s never gotten out of bed. Way to ruin your life forever!
Listen up bad boys… Get anger management and learn self control.
Make Mama proud!
But they do nothing about rioting and civil unrest in downtown Walnut Creek. I think they enforce the laws selectively.
Waiting for a Warrant to arrest an armed, violent gunman was extremely irresponsible and cowardly. Immediate action was required to protect the citizens of Walnut Creek from further ciolence.
