George Carlin

Johnny Carson. Day in and day out the best ever.

I agree, he was not a late night talk show host, more than a comedian, however, he was hilarious, especially some of his segments with animals, and his thanksgiving skit with Doc Severinsen, who also was very funny. Available on UTube
Loved John Cleese in Fawlty Towers, The Germans and the guest that died, others.
Also love Dana Carvey when he does George W. H. Bush, and Bush 41 invited him to the White House Christmas party and laughed along with everyone else when Carvey imporsonated him. Class act President.
Many SNL characters Tina Fey, McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy as Spicer, too many to mention. Of the older ones Jonathan Winters (in it’s A Mad, Mad, Mad World”. Don Rickles and Rich Little.

Red Skeleton by far. George Burns and Gracie Allen a very close 2nd. Actually, all the really good ones are gone.

My number one pick is Rodney Dangerfield, he was just downright funny without even trying, just looking at him made me laugh.
Next on the list is Johnny Carson, Don Rickles, Rich Little, and Redd Foxx.
My favorite TV characters that made me laugh was Barney Fife, and Lucy Ricardo.
Favorite cartoon character is Wile E. Coyote.

All time: George Carlin
Tv: Dick Van Dyke
Current:Brian Regan

I enjoyed Bill Burr’s SNL. So he’s at the top for me right now.

I’m a huge Bill Burr fan, but sadly I think his SNL show was his weakest performance. He had to pull his punches, and his solo stand up genius was not on display when he had to collaborate with sketch comedy actors. It’s a different skill set.

George Carlin, Louis C.K., and Bill Burr have excellent material and their delivery is top notch. I think Dave Chappelle is a different kind of genius. His writing is not as dense as those three, but his ability to connect with the audience and bring them along unparalleled.

So many: top three Lenny Bruce, Jonathan Winters, George Carlin

Hmmm, that’s a good one. The funniest folk make me laugh just anticipating their comeback…Don Rickles, Curly Howard, Don Knotts, Lou Costello, Oliver Hardy. For me the best was Jack Benny.

Jonathan Winters. If i had to pick one.

I enjoyed watching Lucille Ball… and Robin Williams!

Don Rickles Jonathan Winters George Carlin Johnny Carson. Bob Hope
None of today’s comedians are worth anything. They are all outspoken democrats and not funny. Sort of sad for younger people.

Daniel Tosh and Kevin Skinner

Robin Williams, Dave Chappelle, Bob Newhart

Chappelle is brilliant.

Brian Regan…..find his 4 minute pop-tart routine on YouTube. You will not be disappointed

My top ten of all time in this order: Louis CK, Dave Chapelle, Richard Pryor, Don Rickels, Bill Burr, Eddie Murphy, Rodney Dangerfield, Tom Segura, Jeff Ross, George Carlin.

Allen Sherman

watch video “Camp Granada” !

Never saw the video but loved the song whenever I heard it.

Lol I was thinking the:same. As a lover of comedy though, I’m glad they’re here. Looking forward to watching more Red Skeleton, and John Winters videos. Brilliant comics.

Brian Regan pop tarts..I found it for you…

Wow, so far these are some old references. Maybe I’ve underestimated the average age of the typical Claycord user.

Seinfeld, Bill Burr, Dangerfield, Dana Carvey, Sebastian Maniscalco, Jim Gaffigan

lots of great names here, but Jay Leno

George Carlin.

viewer discretion advised,,, 😉

He spoke many truths and people thought it was funny.

HUMmmm

George Carlin. He told the truth about those in power who try to control us. You young’ins might want to check out his work. Might wake some of you zombies out of your CNN stupor.

Red Skeleton
Milton Berle
Don Rickles
Rodney Dangerfield
George Carlin
Richard Pryor
Jonathan Winters
ROBIN WILLIAMS

George Carlin & Robin Williams

Forgot about Richard Pryor, edgy but usually funny.

Robin Williams

Dave Chappelle, if I had to pick just one.

.
My top five in no particular order:
.
Brian Regan
Bill Burr
JoKoy
Chris Rock
George Carlin
.

Not even a question on this…Don Rickles

I saw Don Rickles in Vegas once, and he picked on some poor guy that was sitting the closest to him. When the show was over, he bought the guy and his party a couple of bottles of Dom Perignon for being such a good sport. Rickles was a classy guy.

You wanted to sit in front, so you could be picked on….

Was his Shtick….

Sam Kinison and/or Dom Irerra. Tough Choice

George Carlin for the win!
Victor Borge for pure joy
Bob Newhart for the droll.

I hated Robin Williams.

Sarah Cooper and SBC for *cringe*

How could I forget my fellow Dane Victor Borge (his real name Boerge Rosenbaum). My mother didn’t think he was that funny, and she was always annoyed that he took so long to play the piano. After I had been the in US for almost 2 years I went back to Denmark for a few month, and Victor Borge was performing on Danish TV, and I realized when you understood both Danish and English he was even more funny, the way he intertwined both languages into his jokes was just hilarious.

Oh and for comedy groups Monty Python….forever
Duos the Smothers Brothers

Black Comedy Women Mom’s Manley
Black Comedy men Richard Prior.

Cher was also very very funny on the Sonny and Cher Show.

Auto correct is brutal on names. Dissin’ Moms Mabley even.

now every time I read something from Hanne Jeppesen, I will be thinking of Victor Borge, and will probably end my thought with a “ffffffffffffff ppppt”

Sam Kinison.
Robin Williams
Mitch Hedberg

Kathleen Madigan. She has great material and she is funny but not offensive.

.
Brian Regan
JoKoy
Bill Burr
Chris Rock
George Carlin
.

George Carlin
Sam Kiniston
Bob Newhart
John Cartson
Carol Burnett
Lucille Ball

Favorites of all time:
Redd Foxx
Richard Pryor
Lucille Ball

Favorite current:
Daniel Tosh

Tough to choose, so will list a few (as many here have):
Rodney, Pryor, Steven Wright, Cosby (“Himself” at least). I agree with many here about Victor Borge as well.

All for different reasons:

Steve Allen
Tim Conway
Robin Williams
Carol Burnett
Victor Borge

Oh, yeah….. thanks, guys….. forgot to mention Carlin and Lehrer!

Gavin Newsome! Everything he says is HILARIOUS!

Tom Lehrer

Heard his album “That was the year it was” when I was still living in my native Denmark, bought it later when I came to the US, now have the CD, I think of him more as a satirical commentator/singer than a comedian, but love his work

George Carlin
Rodney Dangerfield
Joan Rivers
Andrew Dice Clay
Eddie Murphy

Ricky Gervais

Ricky! Yeah he is a good one too.

..and I forgot Eddie Murphy!!

..and I forgot Eddie Murphy!!

Don Rickles, Bill Burr and Dave Chappelle.

I always loved Jonathan Winters – going way back to the late 60s!
My current favorite is Sebastian Maniscalco! He is very funny and love his wife and young children, too!

Bob Hope.

How could I forget the Firesign Theater? Their album “Don’t Crush that Dwarf, Hand Me the Pliers” is a classic, as is their “Star Trip” bit. Hilarious!

FLUFFY!

RIcky Gervais.

Mike Birbiglia.

Gavin Nesome

John Mulaney, Anthony Jezelnick, and Jim Gaffigan are current favorites. Greg Giraldo was hilarious too.

Lucille Ball!

Johnathan Winters, Tim Conway with Harvey Korman and Carol Burnett.
And Richard Pryor before all of this PC crap.

Jon Lovitz
