The Forensic Services Division of the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff was awarded $408,853.00 in grant funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

The funding will be used to purchase a Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometer.

The new equipment can detect illegal drugs, prescription drugs, and over-the-counter drugs commonly found in driving under the influence of drugs (DUID) and drug facilitated sexual assault (DFSA) cases. The addition of this equipment will enable the Sheriff’s Crime Laboratory to provide a higher level of service to the agencies in Contra Costa County and the criminal justice system.

“We are pleased to receive this grant from the Office of Traffic Safety,” said Contra Costa County Sheriff David O. Livingston. “This will increase our efficiency and enable us to provide rapid results to law enforcement and prosecutors on DUID cases in Contra Costa County.”

The purchase of the new instrument, training, and method validation are anticipated to take up to one year. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

wow how much money do these programs have and why are people living on the streets if they have so much to give away

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

So pay for cheap housing and keep them off the streets and away from vandalizing, begging, and harassing everyone.

The last line of that story tells you everything you need to know it’s taxpayer money I would like to see the federal government stop giving money to California for anything until they change their sanctuary City policy which is actually sanctuary state. Comply with the law or receive no funding

@Worried.

As the great Smokey Robinson once said-
“I second that emotion”.

glad to hear, of course aren’t all drugs legal here?

🙁

Why bother? Becton is just going to cut them all loose anyway. She does serve one purpose: any state propositions she supports or opposes, I’m voting the opposite.

This is awesome but seems like it will do the job until they cant hold
The offenders because of police not being able to hold people accountable
And having to release them because the “New” laws allow criminals to be
Either released or let out of jail early..

@ Melanie

“New Laws” and our current DA. Californians are irresponsible voters. The majority apparently favor crime in their neighborhood. That’s the only explanation for how they vote.

yay eyes are opening

maybe this state can be saved

Why waste the time or money as Becton and her cronies will not prosecute anyone.

This is Great News!
I had the privilege and honor to attend The CCC Sheriff’s Citizen Academy a few years ago. I can not say enough about these amazing people who serve our community. Although I’ve had an exciting lucrative career, I really wished I had considered a position with the Sheriff’s Department.
