Another utility pole falls victim to Corona-Mania! Or ADHD. Take your pick.

How does one take out a telephone pole in the middle of the day……

One asks it to lunch?

S, you bad person, you!

Power out at Safeway. Had to leave and not finish my shopping.

Learn to drive people!

You really have to be hauling to break a pole like that. Not to mention what caused you to steer right into it. But we all see it every day, speeders and not paying attention. It will be these dummies that force self driving cars on us all.

Ya see what happens when there isn’t a Hydrant around ? ? ?

Seriously, … knew it would be only a matter of minutes before fellow Claycordians sent in photos and Mr. Mayor would post what happened. Thank You all !

A valuable resource to our community !

I would be embarrassed if that was me and I wasn’t drunk or on something.

Cellphone usage continues to take out landline phones.

Are motorists who take out poles and fire hydrants billed for the damage they cause to the nfrastructure???

I once had a medical emergency and mowed down a city sign post (in another city) before crashing my car into a concrete front porch. The city sent me a bill. It may depend on who’s pole it is.

Maybe “CORONA” beer was at fault. The county will just add it to their positive list.

You all just assume it’s the driver’s fault when clearly that pole jumped out in the middle of the street.

No, it jumped out into the middle of the sidewalk, it would have been safer in the middle of the street. In the top photo I see the pole’s wife waiting for him further down the street.Pole lives matter (PLM).

Forget deer, rogue poles on the loose are the greatest threat to drivers now!

We shouldn’t be too quick to judge.
We lost power in Rancho Diablo some years ago, when an elderly gentleman waiting at the Macy’s traffic light had a heart attack and floored the accelerator and smashed through a power pole on Viking Drive. Very sad – I don’t know if he lived.

That could be very embarrassing. Maybe painful too, I’d imagine.

Four reasons this could happen, number one – mechanical failure, number two – you were cut off by another driver, number three – speeding and number four – not paying attention. If it is number three or four you are lucky you did not kill yourself or someone else. Hopefully you will learn if three or four are the reason.

#5. Diabetic hypoglycemia

Some funny comments on here. will you guys be preforming at Chuckles Comedy House soon ? anyway keep em coming.

Or they were having a medical emergency (which from the sound of call and the way EMS handled it, they were having one)

I live right next to there and the road is closed. Turned my 5 minute drive into a 25 minute one. And I can’t believe he isn’t injured. First of all he hit the pole hard enough to break it, had to be pretty fast. Second the pole landed on his truck, “didn’t crush him”. 3rd how did he not die from electrocution If he got out he would have 99.99% died his rubber tires kept him from getting shocked. I live in the complex right by him I can’t believe I couldn’t hear it

The Lord works in mysterious ways.

112 degrees at 5:35 PM in Martinez

I witness the event. The transformer exploded in front of this driver. The drive
served to avoid the downed power lines that would have inhaled the pickup.
It looked as if the pole was coming down and not hit by the driver.

“Inhaled”? George …. that had to be an auto-correct error…. right?
What did you mean to type?

Seriously, it’s driving me nuts trying to figure it out.

Impaled maybe? Also, those older model pickups are made of metal and can take a beating. Used to have a 1999 Ford F-150. Gal pulled out of Trader Joe’s parking lot like a bat out of hell in her Saturn and guess who won that one. Barely a scratch on the truck.

Me too. Did the exploding transformer precipitate the event, or did the driver set it all in motion by driving into the pole? I’m curious, George!

🙊👋

We had two transformers changed out last night down the street after this accident. Maybe this heat wave is hard on the equipment.

Quiz,
What should you do if you’re in an accident and power lines land on your vehicle ?
What should you not do ?
What should you do if power line is not on your vehicle but is on the ground near your vehicle ?

Stay inside your vehicle until emergency crews can safely get you out.

Concord PD is focused on DUI enforcement when they should be dealing with the speeders and red light runners they are out of control.

I was set up by that pole.

Is that Anna Mansfield or Nancy Pelosi?

Pole-dancing again?

I stand corrected, very well could of been a medical emergency or road hazzard as well.
