The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is investing a vehicular homicide in unincorporated Concord.
This morning at about 1:14, Deputy Sheriffs, along with the California Highway Patrol, were dispatched to a report of a body found at the 5000 block of Marsh Road in an unincorporated area north of Buchanan Field Airport.
Upon arrival, Deputies and CHP Officers located a deceased female on the road.
The CHP started the initial investigation due to evidence that the female was struck by a vehicle.
During an area check, a Deputy Sheriff found the suspect vehicle nearby. Based on initial findings and evidence, this incident was later classified as a vehicular homicide and the Office of the Sheriff took over the primary investigation.
The victim is identified as 35-year-old Shelly Stevens of Lafayette.
The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact the Investigation Division at (925) 313-2600 or through Sheriff’s Office dispatch at (925) 646-2441. For any tips, email: tips@so.cccounty.us or call (866) 846-3592 to leave an anonymous voice message.
Perhaps she had car trouble? Why was she out there ALL alone.
This will be interesting to see exactly what happened. IF IT IS Murder, I know exactly how her family feels. To lose someone by another in such a violent way, then just leave her is the most ‘gut wrenching’ feeling one can have happen. My sister, a retired San Francisco Police Officer was murdered by her on again off again boyfriend. 𝘕𝘖𝘉𝘖𝘋𝘠 wants to get that phone call.
You go on, but it’s with you EVERYDAY!!
I will be thinking about her family this weekend. I will hold them in my heart.
Apparently she was walking to her car from the drive in. I know from a friend who was with her. She was going to meet an ex. We believe that has something to do with it based on his past behavior
Andrew – If she was at the drive-in, then why would she be walking to her car?
You watch the movie from inside your car even if you’re parked outside the drive-in on side streets.
I want some answers. That’s outrageous.
I knew her. Have you spoken to the police about this? Who was the ex she was going to see?
Please share prayers with the family and her friends during this difficult time. I hope anyone who has any ideas shares them freely with CCC Sherriffs office.
Thank you CCC Sheriff and all LE.
My money is on her being homeless. Probably a hit and run.
No, Shelly was not homeless.
Yea nice try. She is well educated well loved and was a fully contributing member of society. Have some heart man
What a horrible assumption to make when someone has died. You should be ashamed of yourself. She was my friend who was a beautiful person and survived cancer and still became a therapist despite her health. You shouldn’t speak illy about the dead.
I think you missed the “of Lafayette” part
appreciating the CHP’s and the CCSO’s cautious word choice here.
All murder is Homicide, but not all Homicide is murder.
Finally somebody gets it.
Homicide = The killing of a human at the hands of another human
Murder = The “illegal” killing of a human at the hands of another human.
(When an intruder breaks into your home at 2AM and you shoot & kill the intruder, that’s homicide but not murder)
How terribly, awfully sad. If what Andrew said is correct, I wish she had gone to meet the ex in a more strategically safer place. I don’t know where that would’ve been, but maybe a(n open) restaurant or cafe located in a busy parking lot. It’s damn near impossible to be safe when you’re involved with someone crazy who has murderous intentions, though. Heartfelt condolences to her poor family. Rest in Peace.
Shelly was my dear friend! A beautiful person who was persevering through the challenges that were presented to her. She was building a better life for herself while she was stabilizing her environment. She did not deserve this! She had everything great to look forward to! Big tears, big prayers, this one is going to stay with me for the rest of my life. RIP my sweet little friend, JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL! Godspeed little Angel!
If her friends are a reflection of who she was, she was obviously a beautiful person. She obviously will live on in those she touched and her light shines on forever. If you know something say something. Do not let evil prevail. Give her family and friends closure.
Andrew, Thanks for the info. If she was meeting an ex her heart was still wanting him. Just my experience talking. So he took advantage of her feelings and love and used her feelings to harm her. Thats one horrible ex. My thoughts and prayers are with Shelly and her family.
You should write cheesy romance novels. With your ability to make up stories out of thin air, you would be great at it.
It’s just as likely that he owed her money and she was going to collect it from him, but I have absolutely no idea so I won’t even speculate.
In any case, I’m so sorry for what all her friends and family are going through right now. Nobody should have to endure that.
It doesn’t say her hit and killed her. The vehicle could’ve been driven by anyone, including a drunk stranger. Commenters are relying on “we believe?”
Chicken Little, I do write cheesy romance novels I guess it shows.
God Bless Shelly’s loving family and friends. I am so sorry for this terrible loss.
It would be nice, in a case like this tragedy that poster withhold judgement until the facts are known. Why assume she was homeless, as evident by posters here she was not, and that kind of comment is hurtful to her friends and family. Have a little respect, and don’t comment on things you don’t know about.
I just met shelly a week and a half ago
At motel 6.and I had spent some time with her.she told me she had cancer
And was taking chemo.but
She feared that the cancer may have spread thru out her body.she touched my heart and I easily felt for her.and encouraging her.that she was strong and that she could beat this.
She told me about her ex.
And that he called her foul names
And even said.he hoped she died from the cancer.she had mentioned to me that he was very abusive to her mentally and physically.i told her that she doesn’t need to deal with that negative person.and that they been broke up for about a month.she told me she would never go back to him.i had a bad feeling about this guy.she told me to not call her anymore that she had gotten back with her ex.i just got this feeling he had something to do with her death
Carlos, Thank you for sharing your story. Hopefully the Police will find her killer. There are a lot of bossy posters telling other posters what they can and can`t say. Remember you are only responsible for your own posts. Prayers for Shelly and her family.
Hi Carlos I would go to the police with that information sounds like it would be very helpful to them.
Let’s all just mind our own business. This is a terrible tragedy and I wish her friends and family peace and closure. But anyone who is not family or a very close friend honestly has no place to speculate on details they don’t know and post as if they do. Please have some respect, some reverence.
I agree.
Wow. RIP me stevens. She was a part of my education a college park my freshman year in 2009. She was very nice and it seemed like she had been given the short end of the stick in life. I hope you Rest In Peace ms Stevens and thank you for everything you did back in high school trying to get through to stubborn kids like me.
This beautiful person was the love of my life. Although we had been separated for five years we never broke contact and we always had highest degree of love respect and honor for each other. Shelly was a wonderful person her heart was the heart of an innocent child. Her love of life and the joy that she brought to others was beyond compare. Whoever killed her is truly evil. The last way in the whole world she should have died it’s on the side of the street crushed by someone’s ill-will. If anybody has any information I beg you I implore you to tell the sheriff. Shelly was the kind of soul that I have ever known. She was the best friend that I have ever had. She is the person that I have loved and will love for the rest of my life. She deserves Justice. And to all of her friends that have posted thank you for sharing in her life. Thank you for the memorial that you have left for her on the side of the road. And always remember Shelly because she was the light in the dark. Rest in peace my sweet love I will never be the same without you. Friend, partner, fighter, teacher, life coach, therapist, self-help Guru holistic healer and cancer survivor. May God take you into his arms and hold you in his warm embrace for all eternity. May Your Love Shine through the darkness of this world.
That was beautiful. I’m so sorry for your loss. God bless.
Left Behind:
I was her friend and I never met you but she spoke very highly of you. I just read her murderer was caught. RIP beautiful Shelly.
