California’s power grid operator issued a flex alert Thursday in advance of another expected heat wave around the state this weekend.
The California Independent System Operator issued the flex alert from 3-9 p.m. Saturday through Monday. High temperatures across the state are expected to be between 10 and 20 degrees above normal during that time.
Much of the state avoided power outages during the last heat wave in mid-August because residents did their part to conserve energy during peak hours, according to the CAISO.
CAISO officials said they expect to see an increase in the demand for electricity during peak hours due to increased air conditioner use.
To conserve energy, people are advised to set their air conditioning thermostats to 78 degrees, avoid using unnecessary lights and major household appliances, close blinds and drapes and use a fan when possible.

As this article popped up, at same time I just heard on the news that Newscum declared a State of Emergency for the weekend. Is suppose to reduce the chance of rotating power outages during the heat wave and ease up on AIr Quality restrictions…

As predictably as the sun rises in the east, when we have hot weather, it is followed by Flex Alerts and power outages. It’s just so shocking that people use their AC’s on hot days, isn’t it? So, turn up thermostats, and swelter in the dark.

Yet we are building more high density housing for more people and encouraging people to drive electric cars??? We shut down the last clean energy power plant (the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant) and are not building any more or any more dams (and the envrio-whackos want to tear down some of the ones we already have). They don’t want to burn clean natural gas to generate power? What am I missing here?
