I’m curious to know how many seniors pull through and make a full recovery. My 98 year old mother had COVID-19 and was sick for about two weeks. The doctor gave three or four days to live and my sister started making funeral arrangements. Well to everybody’s surprise she recovered and she’s almost as good as new, well she’s the best as can be expected for 98. Mom’s not a sickly person though, she had breast cancer about 25 or 30 years ago but that’s about it. Other than that, she never gets sick. All she ever complains about is the usual aches and pains that come with old age. Heck, I’m a lot younger than Mom and I’m beginning to complain about the aches and pains that come with old age too.
I’m hoping Mom makes it to her 100th birthday.

So here is one way to look at this…..if we take people over age 70 (remembering that 60 is the new 40!) –
– 902 cases
– 127 deaths
Or 14% of the cases have resulted in death as of the last stats. Of course many are likely in the hospital and may die as a larger percentage do. But it might not be higher than 20% overall.
The other numbers are for Long Term Care Facilities –
– 793 cases
– 105 deaths
13%, with some likely still in hospital.
This does not address if any long term health effects but at 98 what is long term?
