Protests will take place in Walnut Creek and Clayton today.
WALNUT CREEK:
The first will occur from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Protesters with Bay Area Grassroots will start at Walnut Creek City Hall, then march to Civic Park, where there will be several speakers. You should expect road closures downtown during this march, according to the Walnut Creek Police. According to the organizers, protesters will be demonstrating against white supremacy and for justice for Miles Hall, who was fatally shot by police in 2019.
CLAYTON:
The second protest of the day will start at 4 p.m., and end at 11 p.m. The protest, which is being organized by Contra Costa Black Lives Matter, will take place inside the Clayton Station shopping center (Safeway) on Kirker Pass/Clayton Rd. The demonstrators will be using a portion of the parking lot near Safeway and the remainder of the parking lot will remain open for retail customer access, according to the City of Clayton. Organizers say they will be protesting the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
