I went to Pacifica State Beach in Pacifica. It had an overwhelming stench of feces & raw sewage in the air.
There were signs on the beach warning people not to swim in the water due to raw sewage leaking into the ocean but there were surfers out there anyway.
After my visit, they installed cargo trailers with pumps.

I wonder how accurate AirNow is, given their lack of truly local air measuring sensors. For instance, PH, Concord, Lafayette, Antioch all show the same reading taken from the Concord area sensor. No way these communities have the same air quality. And Brentwood’s reading is from the Livermore area sensor.
Really too bad this can’t provide more accurate readings based on location. I’m going to see if there is an air quality unit I can purchase and install next to my backyard weather station.
Yeah, it was interesting this late afternoon. Airnow still said 150 but PurpleAir showed a brief period in the green. And it passed the smell test when I went outside – it seemed like we got a temporary stream of clean air for a few hours.

I heard a story about folks down in LA saying that people shouldn’t trust air they can’t see.
These days, around here at least, I think we should say don’t trust air you can’t chew.
We have a been through this before and we’ll all get through it again.
This one isn’t any fun for us with breathing problems.
When talking to my out of state friends I used to say that as a californian I get nervous breathing something that I can’t see.

This site is pretty good. The map indicates the sensor is located behind the Chevron station at Treat and Oak Grove. You can see it with Google Street View.
Those people near Felton north of Santa Cruz have had hazardous air quality for 3-4 days straight. Up to almost 800 µg/m3. That’s 10 times higher than in Concord.

This app is complete b.s. I can’t even see my neighbors treeline the smoke is so bad in W.C. worse than anyday this year and it says the air is good to moderate lol! Total misinformation that could get people hurt

Didn’t need an online gauge to tell me that the air quality is bad. These fires are happening under single-party rule by Democrats. Remember that in November.
On Twitter our Governor blames climate change. No kidding.

It’s about 3:10 Sun and sun & shadows are beginning to appear. It appears on Purple Air that a sea breeze is starting to move the bad air south and east like yesterday. Perhaps we’ll see “yellow” air in a couple of hours.
Here is a site with many more air quality sensors:
https://www.purpleair.com/map?opt=1/i/mPM10/a10/cC0#10/37.8978/-122.1842
You can easily tell how the wind moves the smoke around.
Wow! My neighborhood (Concord/Clayton border) has the highest number on the local map! Not good.
You were wise to stock up on N95s ?
Leaving work could barely make out Brown’s island across the river and couldn’t see wind turbines around Collinsville at all.
My neighbor has been warming up his car for the last 1/2 hour. He obviously doesn’t care about adding more pollution.
Wemust live in the same neighborhood.
Gas dirt blowing continues regardless..May have to take matters in my own hands since Gavin the Goon can’t see the forest thru the trees.
Thanks for sharing
You’ll be fine if you just avoid going to the
beaches near Pacifica! (I think the elected
officials over there are blowing smoke).

Use the PurpleAir.com site instead as the first comment. There are more sensors and density seems to be effected by altitude.

I just pray for a lot of rain soon.
A lot of rain soon?

Two hours later and nothing has changed except there is less light and the brown is unchanged. Less dynamic than I thought it would be.
