Yes, and Richard Allen Davis should be the next death row inmate executed. He robbed a beautiful little girl of her life, Polly Klaas would be 39 if she was still alive.
For those against the death penalty because they believe no one has the right to kill another human being, they are not killing another human being, they are destroying an evil entity in the form of a human being. If you don’t believe evil exists, just take a look at Richard Allen Davis, he is the ultimate definition of pure evil.
While they are at it, they can start enforcing the three strikes law once again.
Bingo, Dawg,
He’s the first POS I think of and the last POS I refer to when I have this argument. We need to start fast tracking these long term leeches. It’s too bad we have the bleeding heart, Newsom voters.
RAD is really the litmus test. Anyone who disagrees that this scum should be executed, is just too ignorant to understand the government’s role in meading out justice, as defined by its citizens, and their voice should be ignored or removed.

Yes, but more importantly the voters voted for it in 2012. It was overturned by
a number of court cases challenging a lot of aspects.Gas was ruled out so that injection was the only method. That was overturned, and the voters’ wishes were ignored. Further reforms resulted in no effective death penalty.

ALL violations of the public trust should be a capital offense.

The criminal must pay back everything he took from a victim at prison wages if that is his only job. Prisoners have no rights – if we don’t want them around, that is up to us. They cannot exist in our society – they don’t get it. They call it a mistake- is the victim whole again and probably never will be. We need data – what is the recidivism rate? What are the majority of crimes? How can we improve our rehab? Otherwise, it is well-deserved punishment – living in cells with a bunch of other guys.
Absolutely! It is an appropriate penalty for certain crimes.
The anti-death penalty crowd has done everything they can to delay every execution and make it as expensive as possible. And now they complain that it is inhumane to leave people on death row for such a long time. I think it is time to rethink and simplify the entire process.

In principle, yes. Some crimes deserve the death penalty. In practice, no. Our criminal justice system is not up to the task of administering the death penalty competently, humanely, and impartially.
I agree with you 100%.The only other part I would throw in is I think the family of the victim should have a say in the death penalty as well. Some families need it for closure, others want the murderer to rot in jail for the rest of his life, and others don’t want a life for a life.

It appears unlikely that politics will ever allow convicts to be executed in California. First, the appeals process must have a finite time limit and inhabitants of death row could live out their natural lives confined to their cells in total isolation, and have very limited amenities. Discipline could be handled by moving unruly prisoners to special cells with fewer amenities. It would save the state a ton of money. Prisoners who go mad could be allowed the means to take their own lives.
I have seen the death row cells at Alcatraz, stone rooms with stone floors and a hole as a latrine. Nothing else but a straw mat. Light was poor and the occupants were fed vary bland food such as a boiled potato without salt.
Very amusing Paul… but you’d have to agree we are all born innocent and should at least be allowed to be few years old and afforded a chance to do something wrong before we are sentenced to death… wouldn’t you?
The same people who pretend there is no difference between legal and illegal immigration also pretend that there is no difference between providing justice to the worst criminals and murdering babies.
Brandi–Check out Richard Allen Davis on Wikipedia. The crimes he committed during his life are only the ones they know about, Think about all the crimes he has committed and never got caught. As a child got enjoyment pouring gasoline on cats and lighting them on fire. He was not born innocent, he is pure evil.

Yes. My brother was was kidnapped, robbed and murdered in 1988, by two young adults. We opted for life without parole, rather than the death penalty (with its endless appeals) even though we had special circumstances on both of them. It was their second murder. One of them was released last year, under the Youthful Offender Act. Apparently you can’t be held accountable for your actions til you’re 26 years old. If we’d gone for the death penalty, he’d at least still be in jail.
What a tragedy. I imagine your family has never recovered from such a tragic loss. May your brother rest in peace.

When I was younger, I didn’t support the death penalty. As I grew older and heard a number of times the horrid details of some especially gruesome murders and how senseless and brutal some of the crimes, I changed my mind. I don’t think it would give me any solace as a relative or loved one of a victim to know their murderer were being put to death, but I believe those who commit murder, not in self defense, have earned the death penalty.

An eye for an eye.
The alternative is for those who have been sentanced.to life without parole, that their families are responsible for the inmate’s care, just as they do in Mexico. Food, water, medical care are all provided by the family. Otherwise, lethal injection, just as we do for our beloved pets.
CA inmates have a Constitutional right to medical care. They are the only ones that have this right. If that doesn’t piss you off, you’ve never lost a loved one to a violent crime.
Katie had Dreams too. So did Polly, Gabriel and all the children who were murdered by their parents, neighbors and loved ones.
Are you quoting old or new testament? if it’s new than you left out the rest of what Jesus said. Matthew 5:38-48:
“38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[a] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.”
Your complaint about inmates having medical care should piss us all off. However, instead of being angry that they are cared for we should all be angry that we aren’t being cared for. The insurance companies and the politicians they pay off are the ones we should be angry at. We should have Universal Healthcare like the rest of 1st world countries. The average out of pocket cost to deliver a child for parents in the USA is nearly $5,000 (that number was from 2015). In England, you can give birth in the same place as the Royals and it would set you back $8,500 this would include a deluxe room and all the pamperings you would expect.
