I was doing something in the vicinity of my water heater at that time, and for a second, I thought the water heater was exploding. It was about 9:38 am.

Had 2 thunderclaps that sounded right over the house. Considering the forecast was for a dry event the rain was very welcomed.

All the photographs are lovely, and my favorite one is by Shasta Daisy!
Such beautiful, deep rolls of thunder with this weather front….
That wind, thunder, and lightning was crazy! Patio table blown over with umbrella in middle of backyard, and a branch broke off a mature redwood tree along driveway, and landed about 2 feet in front of Jim’s Toyota Tundra. Didn’t see any other downed tree limbs on our morning walk, however. PG&E website had many power outages in our area, when I looked this morning.
Backyard weather station recorded a high of 108.7* yesterday afternoon. It’s reading 101.8* now at 2:03 PM.
I think lightning struck a structure in the Sunny Acres mobile home park on San Miguel. The explosion was extremely loud and shook our house. Soon after the smell of burning materials and smoke filled the air, followed by 3 engines responding to douse the flames. I don’t know if it was a mobile home, an RV or a permanent structure. I never saw an ambulance arrive, so hopefully that means no injuries.
This struck at right about 9:30am, and now at 2:00pm we still have no power. I spoke to a PGE lineman that said they’re still trying to figure out what has been damaged and see what needs to be repaired. We don’t deal with lightning strikes hitting our grid very often here.
it was a mobile home that got struck. It was a friend’s daughter’s place. Thankfully they slept at another friend’s last night because her power was out. Otherwise 3 children would have been pretty scared by it.

The wind awakened me at 4:30 and the cloud lightning was just starting. It seemed to end around 10:00. That was a very long lived event. Forecasters saying it just might happen again tonight !!
I have never herd a thunder clap before until today. The closest thunder I’ve ever herd, in my life. It shook my whole house. Incredible but was a little scared, not gonna lie.
That one thunderclap was amazing. Shook the house and rumbled for twenty seconds. Haven’t heard that in years.
