663,000 registered voters in Contra Costa County will receive a ballot in the mail for the November election, according to the Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorders office.
To make sure these voters know they will receive a ballot in the mail and to help them successfully cast their votes, the Elections Division is reaching out with an informative direct mail piece this week. Voters who traditionally vote by mail will not receive the notification.
Voters receiving this mailing can update their signature on file by signing and returning the postage paid postcard.
“While very few ballots are not counted because of unmatched signatures, we want voters to update their signature we have on file, if they believe their signature has changed.” said Debi Cooper, Clerk-Recorder-Registrar. “We want to be sure every ballot can be counted.”
Because ballots are mailed to a voter’s residence address, all voters should check their registration status and address on the County’s website www.cocovote.us or on the Secretary of State’s website www.sos.ca.gov to ensure they receive their ballot. Ballots are not forwardable.

@Chicken Little They still check against signatures. Also, didn’t Trump do a full blown investigation on voter fraud last time? I seem to recall they found nothing (as has every study on this) and Trump quickly killed the investigation but still likes to spout voter fraud. Mass vote fraud is a myth.

Are these “Absentee” ballots? If so I want the ability to drop mine off at nearest polling facility as I do each time to vote! Do not wish mine going through the mail. Also, what right does the state have to keep us from voting in person when I just got a jury duty notice? Insane logic! Something very suspicious about this whole thing!

If you have been doing “Absentee” ballots, like I have (for many years now), that won’t change and you should get it in the mail. From the info, the “Vote by Mail” is different, it gets sent to you, then you have to sign up for it. If I’m wrong, someone please correct me,…TYIA
I called the Registrar’s Office a few months ago to request an absentee ballot and I was told that everyone in the County will be getting one in the mail this year.
The fact that less than 20% of the registered voters in the county are Republicans explains a lot about the lunacy we see in county government. Even if all of the “others” were actually Republicans (zero chance), it still leaves us with a Democrat majority in the county.

I will be voting in person. I do not trust anyone in government at state or local levels.
They have drop off locations for ballots so you don’t have to mail it back in. When I voted by mail since I was usually downtown once a week I just dropped it off at the county office. For the primary they had a box outside to deposit the ballot. I was also able to check online if my ballot was counted by the number that comes with the ballot.
They should of mailed mine to ACME Landfill, that is where it is going to end up.

Just got my pre-mail in ballot signature verification card in th mail. So I am supposed to sign the back of this card, mail back with my full name and signature on the back of a postcard for anyone to see, scan, copy signature, etc? That is the whole idea of voting by mail. Apparently in California 70% of polling places are on private property (people’s garage, churches, etc). through out the State of California. Very few are signing up, to become a polling place; because they do not want the threat of Covid-19 from the public, on their private property.
This is the reason all 58 counties in the state are switching to the vote by mail and are not setting up polling places.

Maybe the County Office of Elections in Martinez will be open to the public for voting, but that has yet to be seen.

Those who write about “no ID” seem not to know that the identity verifiction is through the signature on the outside of the envelope which is checked against the signature on the original request, sometimes signed decades ago. Those who are uncomfortable about vote-by-mail are welcome to vote in person in CA. There is no mandate to keep them from that experience

The ignorance is astounding. The President was speaking about absentee voting, where a registered voter REQUESTS a mail in ballot be sent to their current address. That is a far cry from mailing valid ballots to EVERY registered voter at their LAST KNOWN address. You’re right, you can’t have it both ways. I’m sure walking and chewing gum and the same time completely vexes someone like you.
The primaries demonstrated the problems with in-person voting at poling places with the necessary Coronavirus precautions. That is why the states that have any sense and ignore Trump’s nonsense are facilitation mail-in voting by the citizens of their state.
There is so much potential for fraud. My child moved away from CA 7 years ago, but still received a signature postcard from the election dept. If I was less ethical, I could simply sign for him, and when the ballot is received in the mail, vote how I wanted him to vote. So many of these ballots will be sent to old addresses, and a well organized liberal machine will “harvest” them in favor of leftist causes. This may not matter much in CCC, but statewide, this could be huge. It is important to maintain the few GOP congressional seats we still have in CA.

3. Not hard to get a list of registered Republican/Democrat voters and suddenly decide the signatures don’t match depending on party affiliation.
