- 143 new cases of COVID-19 in Contra Costa County since yesterday.
- 7,241 people have fully recovered from COVID-19 in Contra Costa.
- 86 of the 131 deaths were in long-term care facilities.
- There are currently 26 active outbreaks of COVID-19 at Contra Costa County long-term care facilities.
- 75 of the 131 deaths have been people over the age of 81.
- Only 1 person under the age of 50 (they were in the 31-40 age group) has died from COVID-19 in Contra Costa County.
- Nobody under the age of 12 has died from COVID-19 in the State of California.
- 650 tests were conducted yesterday in Contra Costa County. The seven day positive average is 11.1%.
- 560 homeless people are currently placed in motel/hotel rooms in Contra Costa County. Placements are approved for homeless people who are awaiting COVID-19 test results or those who are considered at high risk.

The population of Contra Costa County is about 1.1-million.
Just got back from taking my wife to get a Covid-19 test at the County testing site at the Antioch fairgrounds. It was surprisingly uncrowded. In fact, we were the only ones in line when we arrived. Getting the test didn’t take long, and my wife was told to put the swab up each nostril and twirl it around. The nurse told her that the results take 17 to 19 days. As we drove out, there were three vehicles in line, so still nothing like the endless lines we see on news reports from Southern California.
The length of time it takes to get the test results has to make getting a test from the County pretty much worthless. Seventeen days after being infected, you’ve either recovered or you’ve wound up in the hospital. The Covid test is of little more than historical interest by that time.
I’d check for results asap … others received positive results when they weren’t even tested. You may be surprised at how quickly your “valid” test results appear.
They are sandbagging the numbers to use to their advantage when they want add special effects to the movie you’re watching.
804 cases in a community of a million…. crazy. We’re still locked down and can’t do anything. Of course the numbers are dwindling because of Newsom’s new order of requiring masks (Coincidence right) anything to make the Dems look good. My money is one one more outbreak around late September to fully push their agenda and then bam, Biden wins and numbers dwindle again.
This is a health crisis, not a political one. It is not just US centric and Covid-19 was not invented because of the November election.
This is killing people and the economy so please wear a mask, believe it is really happening, stop making it Democrat or Republican and maybe we will progress.
As far as the numbers are concerned the State needs to fix their issue with the reporting, this is skewing the numbers and not giving an accurate picture.
There are 7.8 BILLION people in this world. Only about 650,000 people have died. Still plenty of people to go around. We did this to ourselves. And those that don’t want to wear a mask, well they are the ones that suffer the outcome. People like you need to stop complaining. People are going to do what people want to do. To many people on this Earth anyways. More animals have died in these last five months then humans have.

Joe is not a statistic of being one of “only 650,000 people ” that have died. Only??!! How many more deaths are acceptable to some of the crude and callous anonymous posters on Claycord? Would 6.5 million be enough for you crude and ignorant anonymous posters?

What other health conditions did your brother have? I ask only because the majority of folks who have lost their lives ‘with’ COVID have had numerous other health conditions. From my research and speaking with medical staff on the front line, many of these individuals would have succumbed if they had caught the seasonal flu or other viral respiratory illness.
As for the 705K world wide that have lost their lives, I am sad to hear those numbers, but we lose more to suicide every year. In 2017, 1.4% of the worlds death was by suicide. We need to put these numbers into perspective. Yes, I would be devastated if I lost either of my parents to this … but I would be devastated if they died from any cause.
Aside from those who died in a nursing home, how many victims didn’t wear a mask? Asking for a friend..
Masks don’t prevent you from getting Covid, they prevent you from spreading it.

Ridiculous to blow off nursing home deaths as just an unimportant statistic. Each of those lives were special. Shame on all of you who continually blow off those deaths as if they shouldn’t count.
127 deaths. I wonder how many of those deaths are actually truly 100% COVID deaths. How many deaths were due to health complications but because they tested positive for COVID the doctors listed it as COVID. Rumor has it, the doctors get paid more by Medicare if the death is labeled as “COVID.”
The numbers are grossly inaccurate. And yes, fact checked by Snopes … hospitals DO have financial incentive to list patients as Covid-19 or on ventilators …

Our Governor claims to have a “laser focus” on the disproportionate outbreak of cases in the Central Valley. As such he is sending $52 Million dollars however he was a little vague on exactly how that was going to help.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to focus on the areas where people are dying?
He has laser focus from all the cocaine
