PRIOR DAY TOTALS:
The population of Contra Costa County is about 1.1-million.
Certainly a disturbing sign the rapid increase in the seven day positive test average. Had been hovering in the 7% range, then up to 8.8% yesterday, and a leap up to 10.0% today.
On the county site it explains there is an issue with the state reporting of tests. Claycord probably shouldn’t publish the 10% data because it’s completely false info. Once the testing data updates you will see the true number (which, by the way- the state reports our county to be around 4.8%)!
Did those at the LTCF have pre-existing health issues? Were they in hospice and barely holding onto life? Did the other 44 have current health issues? This is what the public needs to know. Watch this video and the doctor gives the definition of a Covid death. Per the CDC death certificate guidelines gives scenarios on how to fill out a certificate. Line 1: heart attack; Line 2; COVID. The guidelines also state that is a Covid test can not be done that it’s “presumable” or “probable” that they died of Covid. The doctor starts at the 15 min mark.

CDC DEATH CERTIFICATE GUIDELINES

@KT: It’s important to note that the CDC guidelines for Covid-19 death certificate reporting are consistent with long-standing guidance for novel conditions (meaning that these weren’t newly made up for political reasons). These are consistent with California death certificate requirements, where an “Immediate Cause” is first listed, followed by other “due to” causes.
@KT~
Thank you for the links…you have brought up excellent questions! I have been following the death data/trends and the death reporting is as convoluted as the positives. I watched the Ad-Hoc Committee on 7/30 and Dr. Farnitano stated that Covid-19 deaths are not being taken from death certificates because it can take months to receive that data—they are going by what is reported to Health Department (by what means, who knows). Here’s the video, start at 32 minutes…

So – according to this website, https://www.coronavirus.cchealth.org/dashboard,
on the last chart depicted at the very bottom of the webpage, Walnut Creek, for example, has had 20 deaths of which 20 were at long term care facilities, in a population of 70,860 people. Concord has had the highest number of deaths at 36 of which 34 where at LTCF. So very sorry for the people that lost their lives and the grieving families.
That being said, something is “off” about the China Virus situation. Something big, something weird. What happens after November 4th . . .
Forgot to add the word, Rubicon.
@AnimalLover: Cryptic comments about off, big, weird, Rubicon only suggest that you have no real knowledge or insight. If you know something, why not just say it? Otherwise you’re part of the problem.
Also forgot to add:
China (Virus) Syndrome . . .
What happens after November 4th? The virus will miraculously disappear. You are not alone to feel there is something weird about this virus situation. I believe the truth will come out and many may be shocked.
#AnimalLover: Forgot to add the word Misinformation.
Dan, is it trump’s fault that governors like Cuomo in ny sent covid patients into ltcf murdering thousands and has caused 40 percent of deaths. Is it trump’s fault that there has been a huge spike do to the riots. Look at California, Oregon, Washington state, Illinois etc. Trump had a hospital built, sent ships and offered assistance to all governors. Newsom and Cuomo said Trump was doing everything they asked for. So Dan, what would you of done differently if you have all the answers. Pelosi saysTrump is doing a terrible job but offers no solution. I assure you that Biden or Pelosi would not of put a travel ban in causing many , many more deaths.
@anonymous2.
Many people like AnimalLover are questioning the Covid narrative. That in itself is a statement. Half a year into this thing and the “pandemic” is still not self-apparent. Thus the term, applied to Covid is an oxymoron. Not “all”, not even “most” are sick.
The problem here isn’t those who question. The problem is with the busy bodies that seek to censor and shame those who think differently.
When feeling a wet trickle and smelling the sharp stench of ammonia, some check the forecast for rain. Others trust their senses. In which group are you?
@dan you are joking. Thinking you better get ready. Your little heart is about to break.
don’t forget that when this all started Gavin gave away the whole plan. probably by accident, as he isn’t that smart. he said that social shaming should be used.
Looks like the rage triggers are not the actual crypticisms but rather the political implications. The term “China Virus” elicits a rage response as does mention of November 4th.
@Anonymous2~I’ve been Informed by what AnimalLover wrote…deductive reasoning will conclude that the vast majority of deaths are at LTHCF: WC 20/20, Concord 34/36. “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!”…there is a toto out there who will pull that curtain back in November.
@Anonymous2
Oh gosh! Thank you for the castigations. Apparently I need to self flagellate.
The answers are obvious. What can be done to decrease our numbers and stop the virus from spreading like New Zealand for instance. Follow the rules please. You know what to do. What is so hard about that? What is the hoax so many of you think may be a reality?
Here we go again with total nonsense about how it will disappear after the election. Where do you even come up with this?
I guess its hard to have an invisible enemy and it confuses you.
Why would the entire world pretend there are over half a million dead? To get rid of trump? Talk about self centered…..
It is Trumps fault we have no federal guidelines and the minute we do, he acts like he takes information from posters here. It amazes me how little everyone knows yet somehow manage to make it to adulthood….
@Y
the skying is falling, you might want to head outside to catch it
Self centered? Didn’t your tribe spend the last 4 years in a self absorbed temper tantrum that did incredible harm to our country? This virus is political theater on a scale never seen. Yes the entire world wants him out. If you had an understanding of geo politics you’d know
@ash
Cool comment. I appreciate the conversation.
The virus is real, an elevated danger is real. The hysteria is created. As soon as the Democrats and their media arm decide that hysteria is not useful, it will go on the back burner. If Biden wins, that will be roughly a day after the election. If Trump wins, the hysteria continues until the next thing to be hysterical about comes along.
I still remember how when W Bush was in office, the headlines every day were about the casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan. Just a steady drip drip of new names and how they died. No reporting on what kind of progress was made or not made, no context as to what they were doing when they died. Just a sould deadening litany of lives lost, seemingly for no reason.
All of a sudden, there was a new guy in office by the name of Obama, and I never saw the litany of casualties on the front page ever again. Funny, that.
@Wage Slave
Agree! Where did the virus go for 2 weeks after George Floyd’s death? I watched the news daily concerning the virus and didn’t hear anything for weeks after his death and during protests!
This pandemic continues to get worse, wear your mask, wash your hands, use your brain , obey the County orders, respect others. Who is enforcing these County mandates? Absolutely no one, except for self policing. This is one reason why things are not getting better, there are no repercussions for violating the laws.
It is very easy to get it under control.
Wear a mask when near people, wash your hands and try to keep distance from people.
It’s that simple. Yet here we are because the country is run by a narcissistic wanna be autocrat and 40% of the country thinks he’s actually done something good for this country.
We will never get past this. Remember this, every time you purposely break the three rules above, you are responsible for extending the pandemic as opposed to helping control it.
Do you even know what a law is? Do you know what qualifies as a pandemic? I have a duty not to follow illegal directives. That duty is to you and every other American…your welcome
Finally we are getting folks that are making sense! Thank you for your common sense. Yea!
@ Yogurt
Only if you believe those three rules will end the pandemic, which many many people do not. Many people believe that the masks are not helping. Many people believe the numbers are skewed, you can look at our own county as they cannot tell you how many are dead. Or look at Florida and other states that have classified non-COIVD19 positive patients as COVID fatalities -most recent is Florida and the motorcycle case.
We all need to think about it .. why are we quarantining healthy people and not just the sick? O yeah, the mixed messages of when we are contagious and for how long.
The places were people tend not to wear masks are also the places where there is little to no Covid. Those places tend to be rural and vote Trump. Places like Contra Costa with higher rates have pretty high mask usage. There are just more people, in closer proximity, more often, so there will be more transmissions, mask or no mask.
You are allowing the different experiences between rural and urban folks to be politicized by the media. They point at those rural Trump voters and say see! It’s all their fault, they don’t want to wear masks! We are the party of science, not like those creationist knuckle daggers! Except LA county is hardly Trump territory, and they never really ended lockdown, yet they have the worst infection rate in the country now. Meanwhile Idaho is experiencing an much smaller spike, and people are going about their lives mostly like normal.
Everyone wants someone to blame. It makes them feel more in control, less powerless to the whims of fate. But sometimes there is no bad guy, just imperfect people making imperfect decisions on the best information they have.
I’m not shocked that you all don’t understand how a new virus works.
Science is hard and scientists learn new things every day about this virus.
Saying it’s urban vs rural is silly. More like ignorant, maybe purposeful maybe not, I don’t know.
The truth is that right now, rural areas are getting hit hard. Please remember this, the virus doesn’t care about your feelings or “rights” or urban or rural or democrat or republican.
It’s coming, if you refuse to do the things that slow the spread, then it will come for you and your loved ones. I can only hope you are one of the lucky ones that have no symptoms or problems.
Masks and distancing don’t make it go away. It won’t go away. This is the new reality for YEARS people. When 50% of Americans already say they won’t use the vaccine, then we are already in this for the long haul.
If everyone wears masks, the rate of transmission falls. It’s that simple. Fight it, cry about, whine about it, it doesn’t matter. If you don’t take wear a mask and wash your hands, you will get it. Sooner or later.
@yogurt could you possibly be any more hyperbolic please? Your posts are the definition of fear mongering. Nothing you say can be taken seriously due to the panic sky is falling nonsense.
“The truth is that right now, rural areas are getting hit hard. Please remember this, the virus doesn’t care about your feelings or “rights” or urban or rural or democrat or republican.“
“It’s coming, if you refuse to do the things that slow the spread, then it will come for you and your loved ones.“
@ Yogurt
And how do you know none of us understand how science works? Some of us might have degrees, education and experience in ‘science’
As for urban and rural, yeah there is a difference – population density has a huge impact on the R0 value.
And a new reality for years … wow … sorry to hear that you will be hiding, not seeing your family and expecting the government to provide all your needs, for YEARS.
You seem to have read my comment and then filled in my meaning with what you felt like. Let me try again.
I have family property in Sierra County. So far, there has been one (1) confirmed case there this entire time. And guess what? They don’t wear masks there. They do, however, keep their distance from out-of-towners, they do try to do get-togethers outside with appropriate distances, etc. They have taken in information, gauged their risk, and made a decision accordingly. Then people like you come along and scream at them they are killing grandma, and demand that Cheeto Hitler mandate mask wearing at the federal level, even though he doesn’t have that power. This is the kind of thing that drives the idiotic left/right divide in this country, one ideology trying to dictate to the other. Like the left has bad problems with gun violence, and so attempts to force their restrictive laws on the rural populace that has no gun problem. If and when infections start to spike in Sierra county, I have no doubt the residents will take that information, and act accordingly by upping their protective posture. They don’t need you or Fauci lecturing them about it.
Never once did I say I would refuse to wear a mask. You filled that in in your own, somehow. I work 5 days a week with the public in grocery. I wear a mask.
You seem to be opperating under certainties that just don’t exist. You have no idea if this will be around for years. It may, it may not be. But I am not arrogant enough to claim knowledge that doesn’t exist. Right now, Sweden looks like they are pretty much over this thing. Their herd immunity approach may very well have worked, but only time will tell. Masks being particularly effective in curbing transmission is a best guess at this point. They don’t know for sure, but it makes sense, and there is little harm in trying. Holland has concluded the opposite, that mandatory masks in public (excluding mass transit where people are packed together) does more harm than good. Their numbers are far better than the US, as far as infection rates go. But that can’t be, according to your analysis.
Stop with the sanctimonious sermons, and have a little humility.
Herd immunity is a horrible idea.
To reach Herd immunity we need 70% of the population to get infected.
Lets play the numbers game.
USA population 330 million
70%- 231 million
Lets just say the mortality rate is .3%
That would be 693,000 deaths…..
700,000 dead Americans is OK with you, so you don’t have to wear a mask?
I see people mention Sweden. People there voluntarily wore masks or socially distanced themselves. Their culture is not the same as ours.
I mean if Pelosi said tomorrow Don’t wear masks, you people would start wearing them because……well i don’t know why.
Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi are all growing exponentially right now.
When things happen that are beyond our control, when they effect or lives and maybe even take our lives, it’s normal to seek out an explanation as to who did this and why. But sometimes, there is no real villain, but smaller actors who might have made missteps along the way. Sometimes its’s our own fault that something bad has happened. Regardless, it’s frightening when something happens in our life that is out of our control. The one thing we have control of is our personal behavior. To make a statement that it’s mostly the elderly, or folks in LTCF dying might be factually correct. But to imply that covid has been blown out of proportion because of this fact reeks of ageism. To imply that someone’s life is expendable because they are old, that they have nothing to contribute, that they should stay home not us, is no different than being a racists and saying the same things about someone of color. The way a community treats their most vulnerable is an indication of their moral compass. Folks, our compass is broken.
If I were elderly, I would not want the entire world to sacrifice their lives and freedom to increase my odds of living longer. That is what is selfish. And since I understand the concept of herd immunity, I’d want younger people to go out and build up that immunity so the virus would decline and disappear faster, so that I could go back to a normal life sooner.
Look at the infection rate in Swedwn now. The pandemic looks to be just about over there. Maybe its a false bottom, and they see another spike, but they never locked down, and their rates are approaching zero.
I don’t really think it matters much what the numbers say, or the officials, people will make up their own minds. I work at Macy’s Sun Valley Mall, when we first opened we were busy, then the mall closed, but we stayed open, we were not so busy. I gathered most thought that because the mall was closed we were too. Then it picked up, but this week we were not very busy. I worked earlier in the week, but was off Friday and Saturday, and worked today, we were not very busy today. Talking to my co workers we were not busy the past few days, so most are going to do what they feel comfortable with, regardless of numbers, Trump and Newsome.
I work grocery, and business has been down as well. I think people have just left town for the summer. Everyone is out of work and school, can’t fly anywhere, can’t go to the movies, etc. Might as well go camping or road trip or something, and get away from the nightly political bickering and finger pointing in the media and social media.
Macy’s is open! If it’s required by the store, I will put on a mask. I need some stuff! But just until I open the door to leave. Wouldn’t be caught dead in public wearing that thing. And no I don’t think you are a coward for doing what’s required to keep your job. I was only making the point the state is pushing their weight around.
Wow so I see the democrat backers
Still have no answer for why the democrats berated and harassed and slandered and falsely accused and tried a sitting potus
Spent hundreds of millions of dollars doing it
And the dem voters here still spew their cool aid laden rhetoric with out a defense
Yet want us to get behind a corrupt newscum and his plot to control us with Covid inflated numbers
Once again for those who refuse the hear
It is a virus …everyone will get it and test positive at some point
Just like a flu virus
Our bodies fight viruses they learn and our immune system defends us
The numbers are also inflated from this state governments efforts of terrorizing everyone with fear of testing positive and dying
So they flock to hospitals when they get a runny nose or a small fever or what ever they tell us the symptoms are then change it and then add symptoms of allergies and flu and a cold or mono or a headache or stubbed toe
Answer one question democrat followers
Do you believe that the riots are going to end Covid anytime soon ???
Random,
I’m sorry you think this is political. Its not.
If I wanted to be political I would pint out all the bad decisions or lack of decisions our president has made.
Your talking points and name calling have been proven to be simple distractions from the truth of the absolute failure this administration has been.
If you can’t see it now, you never will.
” … cannot tell how you how many are dead.”
Well I can tell you that for me, 2 members of my immediate family are DEAD as of today from COVID-19. DEAD. Both live in other states that had no mandatory facial mask requirements and essentially no economic shutdown. COVID-19 was a joke to them, just a flu. And now they are dead. And neither was in a long term care facility.
I will proudly take necessary mask and social distancing procedures to keep myself, my family, and others safe and healthy. Pretty simple stuff. I only hope all of you make the choice to do the same. Or otherwise we will all continue to endure more deaths and life long morbidity issues from COVID-19. Many of which are avoidable with simply precautions.
I know one person who got sick in May and he still can’t walk to the bathroom without help and oxygen. 35 years old
The other I know still has tested positive after 6 weeks and has a fever every night and his body hurts all day.
The pitcher for the Red Sox can’t pitch this year because his heart has damage from the coronavirus.
I do know two people who got sick for a few days and that’s it.
This virus is not a joke and there is no way to know how it will effect you until you have it.
I’m sorry for your family and I’m sorry that the people here can only copy and paste right wing talking points. The ability to think it severely lacking in our community apparently
Presidential Candidate and Business Leader, Herman Cain, “died of Covid-19″ in spite of being treated for cancer, a cancer relapse, and a relapse of his relapse and being well along in his years. How many of these Covid deaths should be noted as:”Died with Covid, root cause of death was trauma sustained in a motorcycle accident.” Died of blunt force trauma to the head after slipping in the shower. Also tested positive for AIDS and Covid.
Are there two strains of this virus? Is it odd that the severity is so vast? Strong youngish people getting seriously ill or dying. And where are the infection trails? Is it always air travel? Is it blood type?
Why do reputable doctors claim hydroxychloroquine, in combination with azithromycin (Z-Pak), an antibiotic to treat secondary infections, and zinc sulfate, has been successful. World wide. The variance suggests appalling conflict. Or worse, politicking.
So yes, we wear the mask wash hands and socially distance. Some of us hold established medicine suspect as it is clearly associated with corporate government. Money. Politics, rioting, shut down of business to the point of bankrupting individuals and the entire economy. Then Marxism raises its ugly head … Don’t you wonder just a little bit?
How does Claycord, or the CoCo County health come up with 160 new cases on 8/2? The Location chart for that date indicates 110 new cases.
If this agency were audited, they would be taken away in handcuffs.
