The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.
Today’s question:
QUESTION: When you’re in the car, what do you listen to on the radio?(what station/channel?)
Talk about it….
1260am Relevant Radio
Sirius satellite radio. Usually channel 40, Liquid Metal.
PBS
New Country 105.1 KNCI
KISS FM from Ukraine (on TuneIn)
KVHS 90.5 “The Edge”
I love this station. No commercials, great music. They need to do some updating though. They’ve been on since 1969 and they keep playing their “we’re 40 years old” clips.
Ditto
I know you can’t listen to The A’s games, they don’t have a station!
Jeff:
You can download the “Tunein” App and get the A’s games for free. You can also get KNBR for the Giants games, as my AM station fades out if it’s a night game.
Good news, Jeff-you can listen to KHTK 1140 from Sacramento with 50000 watts. It can get a little phasey at night. but the only A’s station
in the Bay Area is in Spanish.
Pretty FU.
No Shoes Radio (Kenny Chesney) on Sirius
KSFO 560 AM
107.7 The Bone

Savage, Limbaugh, elder any conservative radio station I don’t bother with the orange man bad stations. That narrative has run its course. I prefer factual news and commentary.
@Worried – Your favorites are far from ‘factual’.
@Worried: I am with ya!
Don’t listen to the radio in ‘Beast’ anymore (she’s a 92 Jeep Laredo, 5 speed), since her antenna got ripped out by a tree 2 years ago. Was listening to 560 AM or 103.7 FM. Maybe should get a good portable radio,….any suggestions?
Plus, I don’t have a cell phone,…LOL!
I love it! That sounds like me; although, my husband did say that I do need to get with the 21st century and get a cell phone in case I’m somewhere and need it… so now I finally have one but don’t turn it on often unless to have it do the required updates. 🙂
@mohairs~
Yes, I should get a cell phone. Only really needed one once, but there were 3 other people who googled info on a plant for me,…. so I bought the plant,… 🙂
KQED, KPFA, KGO.
FM104.9 /AM1260 Relevant radio
FM 103.7
KSFO
KCBS AM 74 FM 106.9
Ice Station Zebra
KQED-FM (88.5 FM).
I don’t. If I want music I have spotify with no commercials and playing music I actually want to hear. Spotify also has podcasts so I get stories, news, sports talk, and all kinds of other interesting shows. I don’t have to deal with Morning Zoo and fake radio voice people that will cut to a commercial every 5 minutes. The only time I’ve listened to the radio is for presidential debates. I guess the only other time I’d listen to the radio is if there is a natural disaster and cell service is down.
KCBS 740 AM

Ditto that ditto.
Podcasts, a couple of CDs when my kids are in the car and if it’s late at night or early morning Coast to Coast.
Coast to Coast used to be so much better…seems now it’s all dark, negative, paranormal crap…they used to have more scientists, engineers, etc.
Depends what is on. If there is a talk show on that I like I listen to that. Usually from 12 noon to 3 p.m. I switched back and forth between KGO Pat Thurston, liberal, or 1530 Sacramento Tom Sullivan, one is liberal, one is conservative. but I like Tom Sullivan, he has nice personality and seem very fair, often I find him more interesting than Pat, although I like her show as well.
3 p.m. to 6 p.m. I don’t listen much, if I do Dave Ramsey 650 am, or Chip Franklin KGO. I like Dave Ramsey’s personality and he gives some good financial advice for the most part. 6 p.m. appointment radio with John Rothmann KGO, rarely has a show I find boring. I might turn into Hannity and Savage for a few minutes, but usually not. Savage can be very entertaining depends what he talks about.
Music radio sixties, seventies rock and roll or jazz.
KCBS
810 AM KGO
740 AM KCBS
Ba- Ba-Booey…..
I’m spoiled by SiriusXM:
Willie’s Roadhouse,
Classic Vinyl, and
Classic Rewind.
A bit off topic, but … Do any of you AM Radio listeners know of a show that is even somewhat like the show the late Dr. Bill Wattenburg used to do on KGO? I really miss that show. He could always talk about very technical issues in understandable language. And boy, could he get some good rants going!
I also miss Bill Wattenburg.
I listen to KSFO and KCBS. If I want Rush at a time when he isn’t on, I listen to him on my phone with the Rush 24/7 app. Each hour of his program is only about 40 minutes long, as they delete the commercials. I used to listen to the KSFO morning show, but I don’t like Armstrong & Getty, so I’ll get some news from KCBS and then either listen to music or Rush. Once in a while I’ll put KGO on when I want to listen to the lunatic left. I can’t listen too long before I’m ready to do harm to my radio though.
Ba Ba Bouey!
Hey Now!
Spotify, Radio Paradise, my own mp3 and podcasts AM/FM is pretty much dead to me.
MP3 music files on a USB… Black Sabbath, Metallica, Godsmack, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon, Megadeth, Armored Saint, Queensryche, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Dio, Exodus, Helloween, Disturbed, Ozzy, Slayer, Sammy Hagar, Def Leppard, Metal Church, Accept, Motorhead, etc.
Otherwise, KCBS.
You missed Bread, Terry Jax and the guy who does “Billy, Don’t Be a Hero.”
The one and only KVHS 90.5 The Edge
SiriusXM, got a lifetime subscription 16 years ago. Entitled to change 3X for newer cars, still on car #1. 60’s/70’s Classic Rock and Today’s Country Hits.

KSFO for Rush and Ben Shapiro, K-LOVE all other times!
Spotify (variety of parcast & similar channels)
Pandora (marty robbins channel, latest favorite)
Tune In (A&G)
If I may be so bold only a rube would resign themselves to a very short set list of highly predictable songs with constant interruptions for commercials and propaganda. FM radio has been trash for multiple decades.
I mostly have Amazon Prime playing commercial free music in the car, which I have chosen specifically. If I get stuck in traffic I put on a youtube video I’ll enjoy listening to. Or I play some FLAC album I have on the SDD.
Satalite radio.
No political diatribe.
107.7 The Bone. FM 2 Classic Rock! lml
Used to listen to KVHS. These days though it’s Alice 97.3
I’ve discovered audiobooks and I’m hooked. Audible for recent releases. Use the Libby app to borrow free from the county library. I listen in my car during commute and ear buds when I can biking. It’s a good break from the news.

Eddie Stubbs is retiring. His last show is on right now.
Michael Savage. The Patriot channel on XM. Wilkow Majority.
In the car, I scroll the pre-sets (everything from KQED, to classical music, to “Easy Listening”, to Hispanic, to Folk/Country.
My car’s 6-disc C/D player generally has about 50% Broadway show music and 50% “other”….. cannot handle hip-hop or rap, though…. sorry.

9.69 FM The Eagle out of Sacramento
The Eagle is a great station. I’m surprised we have better FM reception from SAC than SFO (living in Clayton).
Also love New Country 105.1 KNCI, altho I’ll listen to pretty much everything (jazz, blues, classical, rock, alternative).
Old broadcasts of KYA, KFRC (including Dr Don Rose), KHJ (then similar to KFRC), and WLS(then a top 40 station in Chicago) on CDs. I even love the commercials of the time.
Modern radio does not play the music that I like, plus way too many commercials.
KPFA 94.1 FM. Completely listener supported radio, no corporate sponsors, no underwriters, commercial free for 71 years!
I don’t listen to radio, I listen to audio books. Much more interesting than oldies and news talk.
I only listen in the car, mostly Traditional Jazz on CD or thumb drive.
Occasionally listen to light classical on the stereo system at home.
If you have Alexa, you can listen to New Orleans Jazz Radio WWOZ. Fantastic music 🎶⚜️💗
