Concord Police are investigating what appears to be a fatal shooting on Stanwell Dr. The crime occurred at about 12:40 p.m. today.
Witnesses in the area heard 4 – 5 shots, and reported a person down, who was possibly deceased.
No further information is available at this time.
UPDATE: This was a murder. The suspect has not been arrested. Concord police say the victim was a male.

The suspect is described as a short Hispanic male, bald, with either a white shirt or black shirt and red shorts. Armed with a handgun.
From I heard just talking to a few people, there were 6 shots fired and three people hit. One of which may not have made it. Someone said they saw a man bleeding. The guy’s was a silver car that ran off after the shooting. I did not see any of this happen. Just what was going around with the people talking near by. One which said he saw the whole thing happen.
One dead. Guy is on the run. He is armed and Ex Military. Jealous Ex boyfriend. Goes to the gun range every week. Hope it stays at one.
How do you know he goes to a gun range? No one would know that other than people who know him. Are you acquainted with the suspect?
I love this thought process…most “ex military” guys were admins or cooks and just because a man supposedly goes to a gun range does not make that man skilled at using a gun….however the man is dangerous because he has shown he will use a gun and shoot someone

I want to say that I knew man who was shot. We were friends and former coworkers. He was an incredible person and did not deserve this tragic death. To everyone making jokes, please show some respect. A man is dead and a murderer is on the loose in our community.

Very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. From the third hand information above, it sounds like a disgruntled former love interest, passions can run high and dangerously sometimes.
I hope the suspect is caught quickly, I will be on the lookout for him.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Did the shooting have any connection to where it took place? Did the victim work or live near there? Or were they just passing by?
It is really in poor taste and very callous to make fun when someone dies, especially since so little was known about his person, sounds like the person that died was a victim and the murder is loose. So I agree show a little respect, wait to you have all the facts.

It really is best to just avoid the comments section of this site. You’ll notice a majority of comments are from a small group of repeat users. And you’ll also notice that many are heartless, angry fools. If you focus on the comments on this site, you’d think the Claycord community is a pretty sad place. Fortunately these keyboard warriors represent a small subset of the community.
RIP to the person who reportedly lost their life, best wishes to that person’s friends/family, and best wishes for a full recovery to anyone else potentially injured in the process. Hope they catch the perp.

To the victims family and friend, I’m sorry for your loss.
Please if you know who did it, report it to the Police. I knew the man that passed. He was a great guy that didn’t deserve what happened to him. He deserves for his murderer to get his punishment and if more people were hurt, with more reason.

Is anyone really surprised? Against the people’s vote your governor put a moratorium on the death penalty, prisoners are being released at a record clip, catch and release on the streets. People can’t work, homelessness is off the hook, drug use is off the hook, you allow dirt bags to live in RVs in parking lots. You’re right @me. I am not part of this community. The murder didn’t happen 1/2 mile from my residence. Gavin is not emptying the prisons, and prop 47 didn’t tie the hands of CPD years ago. Funny how when I point out why dirtbags are emboldened to commit crime in this area, I’m “trying to start trouble“. When your governor dumps San Quentin on your doorstep and takes away the death penalty we voted for, he’s trying to help you.
This is a perfect time to mention our governments mismanagement. Letting people out of prison early for “good behavior” giving out slaps on the wrist, finding ways to make sure POC don’t do jail time so it won’t look like they are responsible for a majority of the crime that goes on is not the answer to lowering our crime rate. We need politicians who are more interested in protecting the majority of honest, hard-working, law abiding tax payers instead of pandering to their uneducated and overly emotional base. yes. People have grown callous to these shootings, as they happen so often and in the same areas. You can almost envision the shooter in your head and you are usually correct in your assumptions. Very sad times we are experiencing.
