Helicopter just picked up another individual from Montecito and took them out long line style to somewhere in Lime Ridge.

I can hear them like they are landing on my roof. Hope the person being rescued is ok. Rattlesnakes up there and kids on trail bikes and some steep trails.

That’s so strange. There was a fire crew and helicopter over at Mt. Diablo at the Mitchell Canyon entrance at around 1pm today. The helicopter circled Eagle Peak area. Then landed in a field near the polling lot and took off back toward Eagle Peak. I wonder if they couldn’t find the person at first?

Does anyone know what happened on Clayton Rd. This morning? 2 bikes were in roadway one of them a child’s.

It’s a hit and run been looking for this all day on here don’t know anymore details Girl was young maybe 10-12

This does not seem like it required a helicopter. So close to the road and homes. I bike and walk there all the time and they could have easily got the rescue crew in and out just as fast as this rescue took.
Meanwhile, lets cut school budgets and everything else but waste money on stuff like this. Complete nonsense in my view.

My guess is that if it was a spinal injury, they wouldn’t want to aggravate it by driving over a bumpy road in an ambulance. A helicopter ride would be much smoother

I pity the foo’ for whom Paul makes medical decisions.

great pictures.. thanks to all of you photogs…

Saw that helicopter earlier. I hope that person is doing alright.

What exactly are you using to conclude this didn’t need a helicopter? Do you the extent of the injury? This could have been life and death and there is extra time needed to walk up a trail. Also you don’t know how the call came to the station so the service men made a decision based on experience and training, not a few sentences on claycord to decide possibly saving a life is nonsense. But my bad, go ahead an asses rescue times from your bike rides and a couple sentence description of events here. This is why I can’t read comments, school budgets has nothing to do with anything, take your misplaced misguided rant to an internet forum or something.

I think JB is a little crazy

JB meant to reply to Paul Declario’s comment above. He said the helicopter was not needed to get to this area and that the rescue crew Could of walked in. I sure hope he is never in charge of getting me out of a situation where I am injured. His exact words were this is nonsense in his view.
I hope the injured person is doing well and makes a complete recovery. Thank God we have resources like this to help us in our time of need.

You better not have a fear of heights when rescued like that. Probably the last time most rescued dangling from a line like that ever make that mistake.

Nice photos, Thanks, helps put into perspective work Sheriff’s Office air unit does.

Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office YouTube page has edited videos of their STARR 3 Helicopter responses. Looks like there is a camera on their lifting hook in some videos in others it show heads up display with information overlay giving street info. Would not be surprised if you check back next week today’s rescue will be edited and posted.

Video editing is well done.

Fascinating footage. After working at a desk in an office most of my career where the most exciting and dangerous thing I did every day was navigate the commute there and back, I can’t imagine the nerves of steel these guys must have.

In one of those videos, the guy casually snaps his line to the helicopter and just as casually steps out onto the skid for the rescue what looks like100s of feet below. And, that was in good weather. Just amazing skills and abilities.

Boy, does that ever look like fun! If it weren’t just a bit embarrassing.. I hope all is well or will be very soon.
