A fatal motorcycle crash has been reported on westbound highway 4 near the San Marco exit in Bay Point, according to the CHP.
Three lanes of the highway are currently closed.
Use caution if you’re in the area.

Just drove through this at 2:20 or so. 3-4 of 5 lanes shut down as they investigate and the person’s motorcycle looked like it crashed into a wall a full 1/4 mile down the freeway from the body. Stay out of the area or go around if you have anywhere to be and drive safely!
Highway 4 has become a race track. On a daily I see motorcycles splitting lanes way too fast. This accident doesn’t surprise me one bit. Slow down folk and ride/drive safely.
The jerks drive their motorcycles like idiots deserve what they get. They have absolutely no respect for anyone on the road and no respect for the law. I love it when I see one of those idiots get caught. They have absolutely no right to drive like that!

Marie: Nothing in my statement says all motorcyclists drive like idiots. I’m a motorcyclist myself and it’s upsetting that so many young motorcyclists are being killed or severely injured because of their stupidity! It’s like everything they learned about safety and responsible riding when they took a rider education course gets forgotten as soon as they get their license!
By the way, I should’ve clarified, although it should be obvious to most people, that my first comment was in response to the guy who said Highway four is a race track for irresponsible motorcyclists.
Motorcycles drive insane! Shoot most people drive insane! Sorry this person died but again people need to stop thinking they are invisible and seriously slow down. Play stupid games, well then you win stupid prizes.
Seriously dude?! Before you have all the facts you should really keep your mouth shut. Didn’t your mother ever teach you if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all?! I happen to know firsthand someone who witnessed the accident and there were two cars speeding and racing each other and one of them hit the motorcyclist.
Sad to say but no surprise people drive like maniacs. Speeding, reckless with no regard for others. Let this be a lesson to all.
How is it that you people always think that it’s the fault of the rider?
Someone might have hit the rider. Please wait for the facts come out before you make a judgement on how it happened, unless you yourself saw it happen. God bless the family of the victim and he or she rest in peace.
Appears that 40% of motorcycle accidents are solo. Of the other 60%; 75% of those are caused by a motorist not a motorcyclist. So, that means out of 100 MC accidents about 55 out of 100 are caused by the motorcyclist. That could lead one to think it was the MC’s fault???

Condolences to family and friends of the rider.
What really sucks as a rider for 20 years who doesnt want to ride like an a-hole (especially on HWY4) you have to speed 80+ otherwise you have people jumping lanes at 90, 100+ left to right lanes and everywhere in between). Really not safe to ride at all. Been thinking about saying screw it and giving up on the passion to ride.

I’m sorry about the accident and the loss of a life. I have had 3 friends killed from motorcycle accidents. All proven it was NOT their fault. When I was 4 years old I witnessed a man on a bike turning on a green. A car ran the red and the guy on the bike ended up on my front yard. Died on my lawn. My mom ran out tried to help. It’s not ALWAYS the guy on the bikes fault OK. Just PLEASE stop all this negative narrative until you have all the facts. Someone DIED.

In this case it was NOT the riders fault. Two cars were racing and hit the bike. It was a very sad and brutal scene. I drove right passed the rider in the street and it was gruesome. Eyewitnesses said the rider was NOT speeding! The family will need a lot of prayer and support.

I drove by that earlier . Saw a yellow tarp and a tennis shoe . About a quarter mile was a crashed motorcycle. There were about 5 CHP cars were there also. Someone’s family is going to get a knock on their door with devastating news. Drive safely and pay attention people❤️
If Christina is correct we know for sure excessive speed was involved. Regardless, very sad when one loses their life.
Not Impressed, opened mouth inserted foot. Some of us never mature. Maybe consider changing your handle to ( a real tool ). This was a needless selfish act. My prayers go out to his family. Hopefully they find the tools who killed the driver.
Highway 4 is dangerous! I live in Bay Point and everyday people fly passed me going well over 75-80mph. Weaving in and out of lanes. It’s ridiculous. I don’t care if you have a nice car, you look like a jerk with no concern for other people’s lives driving like you’re on a nascar track.
Please stay to the right and out of the fast lane, if a car is behind you I’m the fast lane, yield to the right. Don’t make cars pass illegally I’m the right because you feel you are “in the right” doing 65 in the fast lane. People are going to speed, it won’t stop ever, it’s human nature. Just stay to the right and make it safe.
Feel really bad for the rider & his family. If as reported there were witnesses, hope to read the idiots are caught, their DLs are shredded, their cars are crushed to cubes, they are tossed into the black hole of Calcutta.
Wow, just Wow!! First, let me say thatAmen , to my knowledge they have not released motorcyclist name! My Son is 26, he has a Harley, lives in Antioch, drives Hwy 4 daily & has family in Bay Point/San Marco area… He works 10+ hours a day (in the Army & well is 26🙃) so getting ahold of him is sometimes difficult. Needless to say, I’m sick & haven’t slept bc I haven’t confirmed it wasn’t him (calling him @ 6am hoping to catch him)! So, for any other parent, family or friend still wondering I hold you in my prayers!

I’m from the area so all things like this always have me concerned! My thoughts and prayers remain with this family!

Does someone know why there were there two yellow tarps?
I was at the scene of a double fatality accident once, two pedestrians hit by at least one car and a truck. It required 3 yellow tarps & the answer as to “why” should be fairly obvious. It was pretty bad before they were covered and the image has haunted me for years.
Thanks Brandi, I started riding a motorcycle last year and have friends who ride. I took a safety class, and they teach you dangers but everyone protects each other from the truth of things that happen, so it’s just been hard taking an honest look at wanting to continue to ride or not. I understand the sensitivity here, but there are no details to be found anywhere. I drove past it and without seeing anything still really devastating and sobering. Absolutely feel so sorry for the victim and family. I really hope the car drivers will be found.
