Bay Area Air Quality Advisory Extended Through Sunday

Smoke blowing toward the Bay Area from the Mineral Fire in Fresno County is continuing to affect air quality this weekend, according to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

An agency spokesperson said Saturday that an air quality advisory is being extended through Sunday due to smoke migrating from the fire, which started Monday evening.

Smoke from the fire is expected to impact the Bay Area through Sunday. At the surface, winds are expected to remain onshore across the Bay Area. Smoke will likely remain aloft, resulting in smoky and hazy skies.

The agency will be closely monitoring air quality throughout the Bay Area for smoke impacts from the fire.

If the smell of smoke is present, it is important that Bay Area residents protect their health by avoiding exposure. If possible, stay inside with windows and doors closed until smoke levels subside, if temperatures allow. It is also recommended that those impacted by smoke set their air conditioning units and car vent systems to re-circulate to prevent outside air from moving inside.

The agency added that smoke can irritate the eyes and airways, causing coughing, a dry scratchy throat and irritated sinuses. Elevated particulate matter in the air can trigger wheezing in those who suffer from asthma, emphysema or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD. Elderly persons, children and individuals with respiratory illnesses are particularly susceptible to elevated air pollution levels and should take extra precautions to avoid exposure.

The green police have spoken. Defund the green police.

This all day ^^^^^

I’m going out for a jog now without a mask.

um… this is a smoke advisory… nobody said you had to wear one ANYWHERE in this… also, for that matter, no one ever said you had to wear one while out running either… Inside businesses, or when you can’t be distanced from people, yes, outdoors by yourself, no.

ERas, your right nobody told me and that’s the way it should be. But wait that’s going to change, little by little one step at a time.

Let the gas polluting Leafblowing begin! 🙁

I agree with you not liking the gas powered leaf blowers. They pollute the air and the sound! I loathe them with a passion. I have an electric leaf blower that is very quiet compared to those gas
powered leaf blowers. There are plenty of leaf blowers here at Rossmoor but they always miss the main leaves by our units. I am happy to take care of our three units that are level in. We have lots of stuff dropped by the wind and trees. No problem. Why cannot they use those? I have a charger you put the battery into. It really works. The run time is about 15 minutes. Oh there is my answer. That is why they do not use electric leaf blowers. Ha Ha. With all our technology surly someone could invent a hybrid leaf blower.

I’m over here hogging up all this oxygen while it’s still leagal!

Our air quality has been and is excellent today!

There is nothing wrong with the air! Stop believing everything they tell you and look for yourself. Airnow.gov!

Based on your premise, why should we believe airnow. “gov” ?

did… did you just say to not believe what the government is telling you about the possibility of smoke in your area and then point to a government run website for your info source…??

There are many times that the air quality is very bad. I had a dear friend of mine who had to be on oxygen when the air quality particles were very bad to breathe. This year we have excellent air quality due to COVID-19!! Not as much air pollutants due to less planes and vehicles using fossil fuels. That is one blessing of this damn virus.

They are the BAAQMD.

Yes, and they say there is a smoke plume in your area… https://fire.airnow.gov/?lat=37.951897599999995&lng=-122.04769280000001&zoom=10#
Just like the post says…

Also, they are a government agency, like the one you said was lying to you… but they weren’t…

Air is horrible here, can’t breath. Putting on a respirator!

@Bobfished….Change the water in your bong and take another long pull on it, you’ll be fine.

Nothing in the NOAA weather report for the bay area regarding smoke today.
