Martinez Vegetation Fire Contained After Threatening Numerous Buildings

A vegetation fire that started shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday at Vista Oaks and Douglas drives in Martinez has been contained, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said.

The fire went to a second alarm before forward progress was stopped and while numerous structures were threatened, none were damaged, and there were no injuries to firefighters or the public.

The scene requires “extensive overhaul,” the fire district said, and additional crews were requested due to steep terrain and high temperature.

Ty for your service Martinez FD.

Martinez is under the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District –

Commonly called Contra Costa County Consolidated Fire District or simply:
Con Fire

Interesting a fire started within hours of the alleged Martinez protest that Claycord, so far, has no news on. A friend of mine sent me a picture of a flyer that he says is one of dozens stapled to posts, etc. downtown and around the city that reads: ALL WHITES ARE RACISTS. Funny how those flyers are allowed and not considered offensive and or racist against white people. Welcome to Communist/Bolshevik America 2020.

Yeah…no. Protest had nothing.to do with the fire and the people who posted those signs were local racists, not any of the protesters or the groups who were represented in the protest. I live in Martinez. Don’t spread misinformation to fit your agenda please.

I work at 625 Court Street. And before the protest .and today I walked all around downtown and didn’t see any such flyer.

Wow, what a coinkidink! All these radical far-left protestors in town and there’s suddenly a fire, HMMMMM could there be a connection????

@ anon orrrrr it could be because it’s hot and dry and this is just the latest Bay Area brush fire during this heatwave? Nah, it’s gotta be Bolshevik agitators.

It was accidentally started by a man on Alhambra Way that was mowing grass with a gas mower.

No, the fire was not started by protesters (paid or legit) nor was it started by the homeless. Witnesses saw a contractor mowing the wild grasses in that area when the fire broke out. Stop blaming the easiest scapegoat based on your own fact finding laziness or neglect.

While there are comments about that the fire was started by someone mowing, there are also homeless encampments where the fire seems to be. The building to the left is 40 Douglas Drive. The homeless encampments are at https://goo.gl/maps/kKsakenqAQ2NaDSa8

Enough already with the homeless starting fires that endanger the public, property and the 1st responders. There is never any mention about punishment for those responsible or working off the debt they caused by doing work for the counties, cities or towns? Why not Newscum?

I totally agree-as even though I am not truly white-I find it degrading and offensive remarks about “white” people are allowed but if anyone mentions anything about someone other than their perceived ideas of what “white” is anything goes.

Reverse discrimination has been around for years but that is swept under the carpet. What goes for one should go for all.

The original ConFire dispatch callout was for, “…a vegetation fire started by a lawnmower”.
