GNC is closing their store in the Clayton Station shopping center in Clayton.
The company announced about 250 store closures last week, and Clayton was not on the list of stores to close.
However, signs on the business say the store will be closing.
Not sure what people see in GNC. The few times I’ve gone into one, they’ve been empty and the items were overpriced. Kind of surprised they’ve hung around this long!
There’s been a person standing at Ygnacio Valley Rd. and Clayton Road with pole with signs on it since last week, closing sale, store fixtures, percent off, etc.
Longer lock down goes on, more small businesses will go under.
That’s a shame. A family member of mine shops there. I advised them when I heard about the bankruptcy– which by the way, I heard up to 1,200 stores were closing while they were searching for a buyer. There are some items they carry that you can’t find elsewhere unless you go online.
That entire strip mall is inhabited by junk, surpassed only by the other one by Staples. Tired chain pizza, a dumpy bakery, a chain paint store, and a few other unmemorable places. Why do we get all the boring stuff here? Is it the Clayton customer base that only want something safe? We could really use a good breakfast place. The waffle place is OK but also a chain.
The last time we were in Claycord, we met a friend for brunch at Country Waffles. It’s not Cracker Barrel, but it was pretty good. Then, we walked down and chatted with our former dentist. She’s got a real nice office. All-in-all, the shopping center seems fine.
The shopping center is just fine the way it is. This is a small town. I do miss the blockbuster video that used to inhabit where the paint story is now. there’s another paint store just a quarter of a mile down Clayton road near where Alberta way intersects.
Blockbuster Video has been gone for 10 years or more, guy. Would you like to pull up in your horse and buggy and rent some Betamax tapes? 😉
