Well, it isn’t a 99% survival rate for people with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk. It WAY lower than that. And what about even the healthy people who can’t seem to recover or who have permanent damage. “Recovered” doesn’t mean you’re back to normal, it just means that you’re not hospitalized and not contagious, even if you’re too weak to take care of yourself, or are now on a lung transplant list.
And how many people will you take responsibility for giving it to that may develop permanent disabling effects or even die of it?
@Savedbygrace – It isn’t that bad when it isn’t you. Talk to families that have been decimated by it, losing multiple loved ones that they couldn’t say goodbye to and can’t even mourn at a funeral. You don’t seem to care about any of them.

Comparing health and safety measures with Nazi power grabs is ludicrous. The government curtails all sorts of freedoms every day because it is considered for the greater good. The law requires servers in restaurants to wash their hands after using the bathroom – would you prefer that they have the freedom to make their own decisions about health and safety or would you feel more comfortable with continuing to require they wash their hands?
@concordmom It’s not a public health issue.
This is a political pandemic issue. Just look at the protesters encouraged by our politicians that gathered by hundreds and some places thousands that were allowed to exercise to their “freedom” to protest. Where’s our “freedom” to go to the damn beach, enjoy fireworks, have dinner in a restaurant etc. and celebrate our country?!
Get over yourself. You’re still free even though you’re not allowed to fire a gun into the air to celebrate 4th of July, because those bullets fall down and kill innocent people.
I’m a freedom lover, too, but I also love being alive. I’m high risk, as are my spouse and daughter. My parents are extremely high risk and were just exposed by a caregiver who didn’t know she had it. Another relative has been staying there to help them, and she also has 2 risk factors. They’re all quarantining now and struggling to find a place to get tested in their overwhelmed county in SoCal. The only available appointments are 2 weeks out, which is essentially useless. They’ll have to wait in some interminable line at a walk in clinic.
What you’re not reading in the news (because they’re not reporting it much) is the rate of long term illness (those who still haven’t recovered after 90 days of illness), people who relapse repeatedly, and others with permanent damage to their lungs, heart, brain, eyes, and/or kidneys. Even people who were previously perfectly healthy are experiencing these “complications” that can be disabling, permanently for some. We don’t yet know what percentage of victims fail to fully recover because Medicine isn’t focused on this yet. They consider anyone who walks out the hospital door on their own and remembering their own name as “recovered”, even if they’re too weak to care for themselves.
So while you mourn your freedom to go park in a state beach parking lot or go to a movie theater, remember that the more you walk around and encounter other people, the more you play Russian Roulette with this virus, and the more likely you are to give it to someone else who will suffer and die from it.

Interesting, San Quentin has a disturbing number of Covid-19 cases as the result of Newsom transferring infected inmates there from Southern California prisons. Yet, Marin County is not on his list of counties required to close indoor operations. Public health officials this morning gave statistics on the infections at San Quentin and stated that those infections put the whole area in danger as guards and other employees came and went from the facility likely to spread the virus to family and others.

I don’t know why the media is giving Newsom the noon hour to blather on Monday through Friday. Maybe he has positively ordered them to carry his meaningless drivel. No one is listening to him. He’s not making any sense any longer. “Umm” seems to be his favorite word. He’s just fallen in love with the sound of his own voice as far as anyone can tell. Surely he has other pressing matters to attend to. He seems to be obsessed with this virus thing and I know there is more to running the world’s formerly 5th largest economy than an hour of Gabbin’ Newsom talking about a flu bug that’s circulating. Not a word about how he’s going to pay for this. He’s burning through the surplus Brown stashed away, and Brown said we were “going to need it.” Did Brown know about this flu bug ahead of time? We were almost there, but you guys could not continue to follow the rules couldn’t you?..Sometimes you have to make sacrifices, and in this case it was not that hard…no get togethers, parties, vaca at the beach for a few weeks, wear a mask….that’s it…try to compare that to the sacrifices the people who lost their jobs, have families to feed, have to make because of your inconsiderate behavior. OMG Concord Mom, stop with the fear mongering. PLEASE educate yourself. Turn off your TV or how you get your mainstream news.
This virus has a survival rate of well over 99+%.
There are more “cases” because they are counting tests and the tests are faulty. There is plenty of evidence on it, but you wont see it on mainstream news.
Will people die? Yes, they will because many people are unhealthy, have comorbidities, etc. But most will live and not even get sick.
It’s is not enough close everything down.
So, please stop calling people stupid. When you point at someone else, there are three fingers pointing back at yourself. Look in the mirror.
Take some Vitamin D. Get some exercise and sunshine. Play with a puppy. Stay home if you are scared or concerned. Wear a mask if you want to.

There will be plenty of neighborhoods filled with cars parked on the streets (as it’s already been happening).
There will be BBQs, music, drinking, fireworks, fire crackers, etc.
Most people aren’t gonna stop living their lives.

Newsom creating Stroke Teams to enforce the mask order while he defunds the police.
The announcement by Newsom comes as he ordered a number of businesses across 19 of the state’s counties to suspend their indoor operations. During a press briefing, the governor said that restaurants, wineries, movie theaters, family entertainment centers, zoos, museums and card rooms must halt all indoor operations.
Newsom, who earlier this week ordered bars to close in a number of California counties, extended that mandate to include drinking establishments in other counties.
The strike teams — which will consist of members from the state’s Alcohol Beverage Control, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Highway Patrol and other departments — will target “non-compliant workplaces.”
By every measure, Newsom has lost his grip on reality and should be removed from office as a mental case. We don’t have time for a recall. He’s pushed way past what is safe for the citizens of California as a whole and his edits have become dangerous.

77 deaths over almost FOUR months, out of a popluation of 1,200,000. Less than 0.003 % dead MOST of which were nursing home residents and elderly, with mtie comorbidities. This SIP and following orders make NO SENSE!!! Stop being SHEEP!!
It’s way more than just deaths of old people who are already sickly. Everyone a diagnosed person was in contact with during their contagious period has to quarantine for 14 days. What if that’s you, and you can’t go out or earn any money during those 14 days? Even worse, what if that’s someone in your household and you have nowhere else to go…you’re stuck in a house with an infected, contagious person.
The ripple effects are significant. Who takes care of kids when both of their parents are sick and the kids might also have it? Who takes care of an elderly spouse when an elder gets sick, but they can’t afford a nursing home? What about the people who don’t recover, and still feel sick 3 months later, or have permanent organ damage?
I only see comments like yours from people who have zero personal experience with COVID. It’s easy to blithely label others “sheep” when you don’t actually know what you’re talking about.

Its not going to be the wineries or movie theaters that are the cause of the next spike: it will be the family get togethers over the holiday weekend. Then what will happen? Yes, back to SIP, because people wanted to get out and enjoy spending time with family and friends. Well I hope all of you people enjoy yourselves — and I’m not suggesting that you don’t. I’m just saying that people are gonna catch this thing and we as a community are gonna get punished. Learn it, live it, know it.

Now that Gavin says we should “not gather with people we do not live with,” is it safe to assume that the “rally” for Miles Hall planned for tonight in Walnut Creek will be cancelled? Or, is this one of the times the Gov and Mayor will look the other way? If the rally happens tonight without interference from state or local authorities, then they really aren’t serious about stopping the spread.
Pure politics… pretending that a social protest isn’t going to cause a spike in infections. Gavin Newsom only cares about enforcing rules when he isn’t facing an angry, large group filled with likely voters.
Big legal difference between closing indoor seating at licensed businesses vs. ordering a statewide mandatory quarantine and suspending constitutional rights. Really up to the police if they want to declare an unlawful assembly at specific protests — their own legal risk if doing so before there’s vandalism or violence, plus it would be all over the national news.

The fact that they count cases by the county where they’re hospitalized, not where they live or were diagnosed is definitely bothersome. That has to distort the numbers. I’d like to know how many we actually got from Imperial County.
I was surprised to see us on the list, but not San Francisco or Alameda or Solano counties. Is that because of our spike in cases the last week?
I did not know we were taking patients from Mexico. Are you talking about people who walk across the border and present to a hospital or are we actually transporting in diagnosed patients in order to treat them here?

@D man….so much for your Darwinism…this COVID-19 is killing our most vulnerable elderly folks 69% of all deaths in our county…hardly the weak minded (more like survival of the fittest)..
Darwin is for you tools who beLIEve propaganda.
Us smart ones have already figured out how to strengthen our immunity against this flu.
People should continue to follow the health protocols, but many will not do it.
Anticipating many people in the local neighborhood having BBQ gatherings, playing baseball in parks and fireworks. Masks are not expected to be present.
Just stay away from me, please.
Yes there is…because people are STUPID. Here is a meme I just read to explain this…”Coronovirus explained in craft terms. 9 crafters get together. 8 are knitting. 1 is crafting with glitter. At the end of the day, how many projects have glitter.” 4th of July is one BIG “craft event” and we don’t want the person with the glitter to come. If the glitter people are out at the festivities, there goes our metrics…. PS everyone….wear a mask.
He put zero time or research into this. Just flexing his muscles. Sign the recall.
Thank you. Done. and here is that link for all others tired of getting “it”
https://recallgavin2020.com/
Notice he didnt do it to his County where he lives , which is Marin and didnt do it to Napa , that is where his and auntie Pelosi’s wineries are ! He has lost it !!! He needs to be mentally evaluated, maybe his self admitted alcohol problem is getting the upper hand of his thinking process. There is no pandemic , our numbers are low. The only two numbers that should be looked at are hospitalizations and deaths, thats it . Had enough ? Recallgavin2020.com !
Isn’t it amazing how the county his wineries are in remain open? Such a smart virus we have here.
Interesting Napa is not on the list. Doesn’t he have shares in the wine industry? I get he is trying to slow this down but it will just drag on forever.
It’s not like any bars or indoor dining, entertainment was opened here so…Thank you to everyone who does not wear a mask, does not social distance, gets together with friends/family, organize parties and do not wash their hands enough apparently…now we are back to square one and businesses will be suffering even more as re-openings are postponed indefinitely…how many more weeks until we can finally see the light? We were almost there, but you guys could not continue to follow the rules couldn’t you?..Sometimes you have to make sacrifices, and in this case it was not that hard…no get togethers, parties, vaca at the beach for a few weeks, wear a mask….that’s it…try to compare that to the sacrifices the people who lost their jobs, have families to feed, have to make because of your inconsiderate behavior. Hopefully this time we can FINALLY get there. And to all who think this is a hoax or a political manipulation…idk..smh…you are lost in a parallel universe…I wish it was but I got news for you, it is real and it kills people.
@LR….Baaaahhh, Baaaahhh.
@nytemuvr ? I guess that is the parallel universe language.
You are not living.
Let the rest of us LIVE.
He can close the beaches all he wants but this is NOT gonna stop people from socializing on 4th of July weekend, or any day for that matter.
There will be plenty of neighborhoods filled with cars parked on the streets (as it’s already been happening).
There will be BBQs, music, drinking, fireworks, fire crackers, etc.
Most people aren’t gonna stop living their lives.
Happy 4th!
Aaaaannd we’ll have another spike starting a week later. I just read about one house party back east where over 80 people got it from the host who got it from a friend who got it at a crowded bar several days earlier.
That link provided only lists the bad counties and we are on it.
Yuuuup….you summed it right up, Let’s be real!
@Gimmemylifeback –
“Exactly what they want you to believe”: What “they”? Public health officials worldwide? Yes. The IIlluminati? No.
I reach my conclusions figured by reading, reviewing and considering every possible rpersoevtive ranging from the extreme fringes at both ends and in-between. You can, too. Give it a try.
Here we go again! ; )
Are the interns in charge over there? None of this is open in Contra Costa.
Recall Newsom 2020
77 deaths over almost FOUR months, out of a popluation of 1,200,000. Less than 0.003 % dead MOST of which were nursing home residents and elderly, with mtie comorbidities. This SIP and following orders make NO SENSE!!! Stop being SHEEP!!
MULTIPLE comorbidities, that is.
Why is it that the Pink Triangle can be celebrated for week(s) of parades with no restrictions, but not Independence Day?
Newsom and Democrats have gone around the bend.
hhmm soooo
lets see
the chancellor newscum stated
ICU admissions have increased 47% from two weeks ago. Currently the state has 3,580 of 10,000 ICU beds in use.
i do believe they were all in favor of riots around that time and not enforcing masks and or distancing …..
so again demorats act irresponsible and we get the stick
Its not going to be the wineries or movie theaters that are the cause of the next spike: it will be the family get togethers over the holiday weekend. Then what will happen? Yes, back to SIP, because people wanted to get out and enjoy spending time with family and friends. Well I hope all of you people enjoy yourselves — and I’m not suggesting that you don’t. I’m just saying that people are gonna catch this thing and we as a community are gonna get punished. Learn it, live it, know it.
Flattening the curve was not about avoiding COVID. It was about getting it at the right time.
@Rico
There were 4 Imperial Valley patients imported and 7 Contra Costa County residents treated elsewhere according to County Board Meetings…so yes, the data is convoluted. Next, we will be importing San Quentin prisoners from Marin County…
