This is the new COVID-19 daily update on Claycord.com:
-
- 551 active cases of COVID-19 in Contra Costa County.
- 81 new cases of COVID-19 in Contra Costa County since yesterday.
- 2,761 tests were conducted in Contra Costa County since yesterday.
- 0 deaths since yesterday.
- Only 1 person under the age of 50 (they were in the 31-40 age group) has died from COVID-19 in Contra Costa County.
- 41 of the 62 deaths have been people over the age of 81.
- 34 of the 62 deaths were in long-term care facilities.
The population in Contra Costa County is 1.1-million.
Just a reminder,
-These numbers have been inflated by importing patients from other parts of CA
-Hospitals are being given financial incentives of $10-40K for Covid patients.
-Anyone who dies with Covid has officialy died of Covid.
-There is no direct way to contact the unelected county officials in charge of making these policies.
-Many will test positive with no symptoms and many will test positive after being recovered.
This pandemic makes the Salem Witch Trials and the Spanish Inquisition seem like reasonable adjudication.
We now have a Grand Inquisitors on every block saying “Shut up and wear your mask. Cover the shame of your dirty face. Repent! Repent!”
@yoyo – It is clear that you disagree with wearing a mask and you do not believe that this poses a risk to public health and the economy. I’m curious, do you think there is a group playing up COVID to further their own agenda?
Why do you think that the numbers have been inflated by importing patients? It is my understanding that the quantity of infections reported for Contra Costa represents the number of Contra Costa residents who have COVID, not necessarily where they are at the moment.
Can you further explain your point on the Salem Witch Trials and Spanish Inquisition? Do you believe the government is trying to use fear to control the populace? If so, this is an international conspiracy forcing countries, who would typically be considered adversaries, working together to further this conspiracy. Why has nobody from these various governments come out to say this is a hoax?
Please show your source on numbers being inflated due to importing.
This entire post is unsubstantiated nonsense.
@ Dan & Temp – Apparently CoCoCo is taking patients from Imperial Valley and they are being counted as cases here. This per the Health Officials statement at the last ad hoc supes meeting. Patients from Richmond go to Alameda County and they are counted as cases there. So we can’t really know if the numbers are inflated, or if it is a wash, since we don’t know how many patients are coming into the county and how many are “exported”.
If masks worked, we should be seeing numbers go down, not up, yes? Of course we had the riots with folks practically crawling all over each other, not wearing masks and screaming. So maybe that explains the spike. However, it also hides if masks work or not. Also read this article on why we may not see a benefit from wearing masks: https://apple.news/AqBBvgOD-T8GnMwtnDW00tA. Have you observed how sloppy most people are with them?
@chuckies wife – interesting article. It brings up four concerns, three health related and one related to the environmental impact of mask use. By its own admission though, the three health concerns have not been sufficiently studied. These concerns appear to be the concerns of the author and theirs alone, not backed up by science. I agree that the efficacy of mask usage will be limited based proper use but that does not mean that because one person cannot figure out how to use a mask that none of us use a mask. I look at it as my responsibility to protect my family, friends and people in my community. I would hope they would do the same for me.
@Chuckie’s Wife
So you assert masks are worthless because simpletons and morons use them improperly, sullying them with their dirty unsanitized hands, pulling them down to speak and the like?
I mean my seatbelts in my car don’t work unless I use them properly, they still are likely to save my life if I do use them properly. The one time someone tried to just sit on top of the belts and a guy rear ended him going 90MPH doesn’t mean seatbelts don’t work, it means improperly used seatbelts don’t work.
The education for mask wearing isn’t crazy. Basically carry a small amount of hand sanitizer with you and sanitize before you need to touch your face or adjust your mask. Boom, done, it’s what physicians do.
👀👀
Quit making excuses and telling yourself there’s nothing to see here. This is not good. The numbers are headed in the wrong direction.
as of 06/22 @ 11:30am:
2,369 confirmed cases in CCC with 62 deaths = 2.62% death rate.
Denominator is 1.1 million. Numerator is 62.
The fatality rate for all 1,818 completed cases (with either full recovery or death) is 3.41%.
@Noj It’s astonishing how many people in this county (see: yourself) don’t understand how statistics and math work. Mortality is calculated dividing the total number of deaths from an illness by total population of persons known to have contracted the illness. By using ALL persons in the population, the only mortality statistic that you could calculate would be ALL moralities. Mortality rates and likelihoods are different.
Where is the city location breakdown?
Yep! I’m asking the same question! That’s how I’ve been monitoring this whole time. TBH that’s how I choose what city I want to do my shopping in. Lol
Testing number increased substantially on a few days. What is driving that?
I think it is due to that segment that were so scared they didn’t go anywhere for 3 months and when things opened up made a beeline to get tested.
62 deaths from a population of 1.1.
0 deaths yesterday and nothing on the people hospitalized.
2.62% is Not the death rate. It is ,0062%.
They have us hiding in our homes for a .0062% death rate and a 99.96% recovery rate.
Remember this in November.
How do you get a death rate of .0062%. Can you walk us through the math?
Death Rate is based on the infection rate. The number of those that die after contracting the disease. An exact death rate is impossible to obtain because we do not know how many people have contracted the disease.
If you take the infection rate of tests performed. Which is the 2,369 positive tests divided by the number of tests performed (60,750). You get an infection rate of 3.9%. Ball park number at best because some people have been tested multiple times.
CCCounty population is roughly 1,154,000. So by using the infection rate of 3.9% of the total population approximately 45,006 would test positive for Covid.
62 deaths divided by 45,006 is a death rate of .0137%. Less than 1%.
@jrocks – you might want to further investigate how the mortality rate is calculated. I think your logic may be flawed.
Dan, it’s called extrapolation. Look into it.
@Dan and Temp
Thanks for the questions!
Here is a link where Dr Farnatano talks about importing patients.
http://contra-costa.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?publish_id=acf6dd3d-b1ba-11ea-888f-0050569183fa
Should you watch the whole briefing, you’ll also notice that he avoids select questions from the public.
@DAN, I understand the thrust of your questions. However your logic is unsound.
Governments routinely use fear to control the public. It is a universal and widely regarded tactic. Ever read, “The Prince”?
But that does not mean each government that uses the same fear tactic, be it friend or foe, is conspiring with each other.
The political goals that can be achieved by pushing a pandemic are numerous: quelling protests and civil unrest (China), creating protests and civil unrest (America), restricting gun access (Canada), redistributing wealth (everywhere).
Looking at the stats, most people have neither gotten the virus, nor know anyone who has gotten the virus. And so like the Witch Trials or Inquisition, the virus is an affliction that you must take on the faith of the authorities. And likewise you must suffer the judgement that they deem is in your best interest.
If there is truly a pandemic, should you have to turn on the news to know about it?
@ Yoyo – I personally know three people of have contracted the virus – one child, her father and a woman in her 30s. The woman in her 30s was in the hospital while the other two recovered in a week or so. I have seen the pandemic first hand without turning on the news.
In order for a conspiracy to work, all parties must work together and keep the same secret. They have to stay on message and the secret must never be shared. Conspiracy theories have plagued american culture. While they can be fun (do aliens exist) they can also be filled with disinformation and harmful.
I could see the possibility of a conspiracy working in a country that restricts free information like China or North Korea but I struggle to believe that such a conspiracy could exist in the United States when we have the media, local health officials, state health officials, independent universities, federal health officials, international health officials, business leaders, etc largely saying the same thing. If this disease did not exist, or was overstated, any one of those entities could come out and say so. They would most certainly grab headlines if they were reputable.
@Yoyo Hop, Yours are just about the sanest and most rational comments I’ve read on this forum. Despite the craziness that currently surrounds us, I do take heart that there are intelligent, thinking people out there who don’t just take orders on face value. What does scare me are the people who mindlessly accept and follows those orders without raising any questions about the “why” of all this.
@Yoyo & Chuckie-I concur with your opinion that there is no transparency in how the numbers are tallied. I’ve watched several of the meetings (not an easy task) and I’ve come to my conclusion that we are being bamboozled and given directives by numbers that are indeed grey at best. The fact that we are importing Covid-19 patients from Imperial Valley and have Contra Costa County patients at Alameda Hospitals…counted in their hospitalization numbers obfuscates it all. Here are the meeting minutes from 6/18 meeting for your reading enjoyment: http://64.166.146.245/agenda_publish.cfm?id=&mt=ALL&get_month=6&get_year=2020&dsp=min&seq=1629
👀👀
@Dan
I have no doubt that some people have gotten sick. But that does not constitute a “pandemic”.
If there are 2.3 K cases in a population of 1 million, that is roughly 1 in 400.
Does less than 1% of the population meet your threshold for a pandemic?
We must also consider that many of the behaviors recommended to combat this “pandemic” may have done more harm than good. The FDA just released a warning about the danger of hand sanitizers. Certain brands cause nausea, vomiting and nervousness.
https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/fda-advises-consumers-not-use-hand-sanitizer-products-manufactured-eskbiochem
And yes, conspiracy theories can be far fetched but they can also be true. It was the conspiring of international entities that brought us the nuclear bomb.
Media censorship is rampant. It is almost equivalent to the amount of conspiracies that have been proven true.
For example, we actually did have a scientist speak out against the reality of the virus. The documentary, “Plandemic” was removed from Youtube,
Whether you agree or disagree with its premise, that it was removed from one of the biggest media platforms in the world is blatant censorship.
@Dan – “coughing, sneezing, nasal hairs, respiratory tract cilia, mucous producing lining cells and the phagocytic activity of alveolar macrophages provide protection against inhaled foreign bodies including fungi, bacteria and viruses. 13 Indeed, the pathogen laden aerosols produced by everyday talking and eating would have the potential to cause significant disease if it were not for these effective respiratory tract defences.” Take personal responsibility if you have a poor immune system. Whether its covid-19 season, flu season, colds, take precautions.
Oh, and BTW, the masks don’t do s***.
@yoyo – Have you considered that only 1% of the population has been infected because of the measures taken to date? The infection rate has spiked since those measures have relaxed. Hopefully we do not see the full force and affect of this pandemic.
You need to be careful with your generalized statement that the behaviors recommended to combat the virus may do more harm than good. The FDA did issue a warning for very specific brands of hand sanitizer. Your argument is the equivalent of saying that you should not eat vegetables because sometimes the FDA recalls them due to contamination.
I would also be careful of a scientist who uses YouTube as their platform. My 9 year old daughter has a YouTube channel. I love her to death but having a YouTube channel lends no credibility. Yes, it is a media platform but one that does not edit the content to ensure accuracy as a traditional media platform would do.
@Dan
Remember Sweden?
That’s one reason that you can’t use as the lock-down for an excuse as to why the “pandemic” has effected so few. Even on the Diamond Princess the virus didn’t spread at unchecked rates.
My argument about the dangers of hand sanitizer is not the equivalent of saying that you should not eat vegetables because sometimes the FDA recalls them due to contamination.
You actually need vegetables to survive.
Your point about Youtube and censorship is garbled. You noted the absence of a Covid whistle blower. Surely if they were credible, you said, their message would get out.
I provided you an example of a such a whistle blower and now you’re doubting their credibility because your 9 year old also has a Youtube account?
You’re expecting the next whistle blower to appear on mainstream media? Because mainstream media, as you say, will “edit the content to ensure accuracy”.
Come on man. No one is so naive as to believe that the media’s main motive is to ensure accuracy.
I can’t take you seriously when you bring arguments like that.
@yoyo – First, Sweden has a higher death rate per capita than its neighboring countries. While a noble experiment to contain the disease, it is likely not the right approach because the death rate is so high and so few people are developing antibodies.
Regarding YouTube as a source of information – where do I even begin? That is just frightening. Journalistic integrity does exist. Editors should fact check information before it is published. I find the media off putting at times because they are pushing their own agenda and at times sensationalizing stories to capture ratings. I try to get news from multiple sources so that it is more balanced. With that said, if that YouTube whistle blower had an ounce of credibility, he would be on Fox News right now. His messaging would align perfectly with the Fox News platform but he isn’t. Why is that? PLEASE DO NOT GET YOUR NEWS FROM FACEBOOK or YOUTUBE!!
In my mind, Swedish health authorities made two mistakes. 1) They treated nursing homes the same as everything else meaning there were no restrictions on visitors and social distancing. We all knew at the time that COVID-19 was mainly transmitted indoors and the disease was far worse for medically at risk people in nursing homes.
2) They failed to recognize that nearly all Swedish nursing homes are privately operated and the majority of them are operated by the same corporation. As profits or net revenue are the primary drivers of any business there is a strong bias to conceal or minimize anything that will reduce income or increase expenses. This lead to the nursing homes not reporting suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 and to them forbidding their employees from mentioning anything on social media. They did not want the public to know as otherwise families of residents would be moving their loved ones into their own homes. They also did not want health authorities coming in and imposing rules that would lead to increased expenses.
Had Swedish health authorities recognized and planned for those two items they would have been 100% okay with their model. I believe the Swedish model would work nearly everywhere in the world. The only exceptions are in very densely populated cities and in cultures where less than one meter of social distancing is common.
Thank you for this post. It is easy to read
If data was truly guiding our recommendations then CCC would be fully open.
Our genius governor just said that 36.5% of California’s total cases occurred during the last two weeks. And we’re supposed to look to these partisan hacks for guidance?? It was the riots for God’s sake!! The riots that the PHOs and the Dems encouraged. It is all politics to them and they don’t give an F about our lives or our children’s lives. They’re ruthless and they’ll do anything to win an election. Not a care that people have died; mental health problems and suicides are going up; children are hurt by not attending school, families are losing their savings… Nope – don’t care. They just want to win an election at any cost. That is what’s making people furious. And the people who act like Eeyore and say “ Welllll, Okaaaay, I guess I’ll wear a mask cuz that’s what I’m told to dooooo …..”. Yes – wear a mask over your mouth but, please, open your eyes!
It’s a shame how right you are. It was politically advantageous to just put their stamp on demonstrations, looting and rioting which have ended up costing us this massive spike in cases, not to mention lost lives, ruined business and destroyed statues.
Divide the number of deaths (62) by 1.1 million (the population of CCC), to arrive at .005646%–less than 1%. Most of those who contract the virus recover.
@Yoyo and Chuckies Wife,
The quantity (2,369 as of today) of actual infections reported for Contra Costa represents the number of Contra Costa residents who have Covid-19, including those in Alameda hosptials. It does not include those who are imported from Imperial County
I understood Dr. Farantino to be talking about hospitalizations when discussing importing patients from Imperial Co. and West County Patients in Alameda hospitals. The Hospitalization Data in the dashboard states the following:
– Patients currently hospitalized in Contra Costa. County residents in other counties – this number is 34 as of today.
– Patients currently hospitalized for Covid-19 in Bay Area Hospitals (the entire bay area) – this number is 227 as of today.
As more data is revealed..We’ve all been played. Nothing more than a scam and nonsensical fear, and politicians with far too much power. Like losing your freedoms, yet?
@Paul Barnes – For what purpose have we been played? So our politicians can stroke their massive egos? Because those in power (currently the Republicans at the federal level) believe we commoners have too much freedom? Because a Democratic deep state has total control over the global population and they are able to put the world in a pandemic lockdown?
Every time these charts are posted several commenters calculate the death rate, then other commenters use a different formula and come up with a different percentage. Wouldn’t it be helpful if CCC just provided that information? I can only assume that they have no idea.
Corona virus is 80s “grunge” made real. Suddenly, everything is dirty.
@Yoyo
Please know that all hospitals do not report the same way. The numbers are actually most likely higher. I work at 2 Bay Area hospitals and can tell you that the numbers have dramatically increased over the last few weeks and all patients are from CCC. Providers do NOT receive any kind of compensation, monetary or otherwise, for COVID patients (I wish this was even remotely true). Some hospitals received some funding which was allocated to help increase sick days to staff (since several have been infected), cross training of staff, increased ordering of supplies, etc. etc. It certainly was NOT an “incentive for COVID patients”. That’s ludicrous. Please provide your resources.
You may be confused about the testing. Do you mean that the antibodies show up and deam you as positive? The PCR, like the nasopharyngeal test will show ACTIVE infection (a true active positive), not antibodies (past exposure).
Here is a USAToday article referencing the extra compensation for Covid patients.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/04/24/fact-check-medicare-hospitals-paid-more-covid-19-patients-coronavirus/3000638001/
Yes, I understand that Snopes disputes a part of this claim, but it does not label it as patently false. Other fact checkers have labeled it as true.
Just to clarify, I am not suggesting that individual nurses or doctors are putting extra cash in their pocket, to tally someone as a Covid case.
What I am suggesting is that a series of policies are creating an environment that is conducive to over counting cases. If you pay a painter by the hour, the house will take longer to paint. If you pay an author by the word, the book will be longer, etc. No exploitative intent is necessary on the part of the individual. And yet that is always the result such policies yield.
As far as the claim that you can test positive after you have fully recovered, I am referencing a briefing from the CCC health director, Dr F. A link to which, I already provided in this thread.
What observations have you made that lead you to believe that the Covid cases are higher than reported?
We better quickly figure out how to manage this virus as a society otherwise we’ll end up with more shelter in place orders. The republican governor in Texas recently threatened to take action if the number of cases do not come down. If a republican will do that, imagine what a democrat governor will do.
A Democrat government will raise taxes.
Here you are again in confrontation..do you ever post when you’re not trying to “educate” the public on democrat talking points? Why does any of this have you referring to republican or democrat governors? No shelter in place orders will be allowed. The governor has zero clout in this state anymore. There is nobody to enforce unconstitutional “orders” and he has been put on notice. 3rd degree murder charges for placing covid cases in nursing homes are pending. He had a medical ship. He had field hospitals, yet our elderly were exposed against federal guidelines. If you want to talk about the governor barking orders let’s talk about how he can’t be trusted to do the right thing and has literally caused death. 👀👀
I miss the daily chart by city.
@sam – you may not like California’s governor. My comment was simply that if a Republican governor who was quick to release the shelter in place directive is talking about reinstituting COVID 19 controls, imagine the steps our governor will take. Our governor issued much stricter guidelines than Texas. Texas is seeing a huge spike in cases and their governor is forced to respond. Houston is even requiring face masks. The lengths they will go to in order to keep their economy functioning. Crazy.
On and on. Like a post making computer program. Deflecting what the actual post was about and using the opportunity to push talking points.
“The lengths they will go to in order to keep their economy functioning. Crazy”
That’s about as marxist as it get folks. Are you a marxist dan or insane? Just be honest. Why do you want people to lose their home and starve?
@sam – alot of words that say nothing at all. Same as always.
You’re ashamed of your political ideology. You can’t even stand yourself. Not a very honorable way to live my friend. Hiding in message boards pretending to be a commoner, all while pushing marxist propaganda. You think we don’t see you. 👀👀
Cities breakdown please!
What happened to the city by city chart of numbers ?
AGAIN: why so much breath being wasted on this. It has been proven “by the numbers” that this is not going to wipe out the population. Less deadly than the flu. So why the fuss?
Because it’s about an election.
I thought people stopped saying it was less deadly than the flu when the death rate exceeded the flu.
