Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (ConFire) announced today the arrest of a suspect in the recreational vehicle (RV) fire that burned under Highway 4 in Concord earlier this week.

The following information is from ConFire:

The fire in question took place June 8, 2020 with the first call coming in at 3:27 p.m. An investigation was immediately conducted by the District’s Fire Investigations Unit, and Concord Police with a suspect identified and arrest made without incident on June 8 just after 5 p.m.

Arrested was Jade McCoy, a Concord-area transient, date of birth April 22, 1993. McCoy, who was on probation from a previous arson conviction for setting an exterior fire in 2019, was arrested after investigation by FIU and Concord PD revealed she intentionally set the fire in the RV. McCoy and her boyfriend had been living in the RV parked on Port Chicago Highway under Highway 4. The arson occurred after a verbal altercation between the two parties. Her possible involvement in other recent fires in the area is currently under investigation.

McCoy is in custody in the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Detention Center in Martinez. Concord Police filed the case with the District Attorney on June 9 and action is pending.

Investigation revealed a woman seen at the scene around the time of the fire to be the likely responsible party.

A short while later, around 5 p.m., Concord Police located the suspect in the vicinity near Olivera Road and Esperanza Drive. Con Fire FIU investigators responded to that scene, interviewed the suspect and determined she was responsible for the blaze, placing her under arrest. She was handcuffed and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility by Concord Police where she was again interviewed by FIU.

The RV fire was initially reported by several parties beginning just before 3:30 p.m. on June 8. Arriving on scene moments later at 3:41, Con Fire’s Battalion Chief 2 reported a fully involved RV on fire under the highway.

In all, 21 fire personnel from Con Fire and the Military Ocean Terminal, Concord’s Federal Fire Department responded to the fire with two Type 1 fire engines, three Type 3 fire engines, two ambulances, a medical supervisor and a fire investigator. Concord Police and the California Highway Patrol also responded to the scene. At 3:42 p.m., the incident commander reported the fire under control.

There were no injuries to responding personnel or civilians.

Since she is a repeat offender she should be locked up to ease the burden on the police to investigate and the fire department to not risk their lives.

Sorry no sympathy for repeat offenders no matter what their sad story is. We are to strapped as it is and our resources should not be used to help repeat offenders who do not care about the rest of society and continue to destroy and leave damage in their wake without any repercussions to themselves.

I agree she should stay locked up as a repeat offender. However even a first caught arsonist should be very old before if ever they are let out of jail.

The average cost to incarcerate a person per year is over $80,000.00 per year. Think about that.

See, Catch and Release does work. They keep coming back.

Black arsonists matter…..

Perhaps they will give her some restorative counceling, a pat on the head, and a stipend.

We have to reimagine the future for career criminals, which appears to be bright.

Classy.

Ugh!!! What a racist comment 😢

Repugnant

Guess some of you haven’t heard. The accusation of “racist” has been so over used it has become virtually meaningless and is on the verge of crossing over into a complement, much like Hillary Clinton’s “deplorables” accusation … a badge of honor.

Wow. Racist much???

Absolutely agree with Sam Malone

Lock her up and keep her away from matches.

I counseled and worked with this woman when she was a teenager in fostercare system. The county pushed for reunification with her family. Now she’ll be in jail with her mother and her father…cycle continues

Damage was estimated in the hundreds of dollars.

Wouldn’t have been funny if someone
had been sleeping in it.

Methican American??

Thanks for a new one. I usually just call them Cranksters, but this is like a new gender or something.

Another unique problem solving method.
Can you say, she has a problem with empathy ? ? ?

She’s the vision of mental health.

Thank you Concord Police and Confire!

With that look, she must of been turning around her life.

That’s the look my wife gives me when I ask her to do something she doesn’t want to do. I won’t go into details.

Well, that RV was probably only worth $871, and I’m sure she tripped and fell with a lighter and a can of gasoline in hand. Aaaaand she’s being picked on because she’s a minority. So send her on her way with Uber fare and a $50 gift card.

That RV has been there for weeks. Why the police did not tell them that is not a place to live. Almost called once when early one morning I saw them dumping “Something” liquid to the ground.

I thought it had been in vicinity for years. Would be parked across st from old kindersley on Arnold ind under trees. Looks like same one. I could be wrong.

Kinders

Have the police been forced to kneel and apologize for needlessly arresting her yet? Also, that overpass will soon be renamed in her honor.

……so…….she’s single…?

I’ve seen her out and about. She’s about as crazy as they come. At i do mean bat crap crazy!

That RV can now be converted into a patio cruiser .

OMG! You all are so funny! I really needed your humor tonight so thank you. You all remind me that people are alive and paying attention.
And I agree that arsonists should be locked up for a very long time. They are a special kinda scary.

It looks like that might be her “glamour” pose and ticket to Hollywood.

The privacy suite and common areas will need remodeling, but it is drivable?

Which meme? ‘you talking to me?’, ‘what choo sayin?’, ‘I’m gonna woop ya behind!’

Bring back, three strikes, you’re out. Or in this case, in forever.

Pretty sad to see people like this. I hope she gets off the drugs.

Glad to see that RV gone. Sorry but it was disgusting and a perfect fire waiting to happen.
