I don’t really think it is a big deal for Christians to “let their light shine”. The real question is why the Co Co Health Department thinks it is a good idea to single out places of worship, whether it is as an order OR a recommendation. Why isn’t the Department recommending businesses do this, too?
Mass gatherings? Right now you can only have 12 people inside a church together. Up to 100 outside.

Looks like enough of us called in or emailed and complained!
It also shows you what idiots they are, they don’t know what they’re doing and they don’t think things through. Bunch of morons! And they consider themselves EDUCATED.
I agree, S. I watched the 6/4 CoCoCo Ad-hoc committee meeting —Farnitano completely deflected the concerns about protesters vs. church gatherings…even said that August time frame is better for churches.–unbelievable!

Lots of calls….probably a couple from attorneys. At least cooler heads prevailed this time around.
Still weird to see the distinction between religious gatherings and other types of gatherings.

@ badnombre . You are correct , why ??? This is not about a virus , it is about control, steering us toward socialism and government control. They are violating constitutional rights and civil liberties. And if you look at history , all this social distancing , and no large groups, trying to take religion away so people have no hope, god can’t help you. It is a classic divide and conquer. This has never ever happened for a virus, and we have had way more deadly viruses. why ??? Even the mask BS , the WHO now says only people treating covid patients need to wear a mask. So why is cchs telling us to wear a mask? There is no reason or need to wear a mask , re-breathing your own carbon dioxide is not healthy, not to mention decreased oxygen intake. Why ??? It is not to keep you safe !!!

Thank you so much Mayor for alerting us to the unconstitutional singling out of churches by the county for required attendance lists. It was really heartening to see the support of non-religious people against this edict too! Just great news to see citizens (both blue and red) band together to support the 1st Amendment. Hopefully, the County won’t try such a heavy-handed, clearly political, machination again.

Churches aren’t the only ones allowed to have gatherings. “Protests” can have up to 100, yet as far as I know they were not requiring collection of names for protests.
The reason for the list was contact tracing if needed. Most of the people at places of worship have this already. When not required for protests (and I sincerely hope very few infections), made no sense for places of worship to have this requirement.

Remember when Hitler wanted lists of people who attended religious services? And I believe he claimed a medical narrative too…

This is how dystopia begins… one breach of our freedom at a time. I have said from the beginning and say today that mass-incarceration of America and the blood-letting of our economy will cause more harm than the virus. There is so much fear/terror in the eyes of people, such hopelessness, that it is going to leave a scar on people for years. And our youth? I predict permanent harm, which our brilliant and highly paid Health Director blithely ignores.
As for me and my house? We want out of California. And no, we won’t bother looking at Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City, etc…If enough people flee, the states and cities will have to defund the police and everything else because the people who actually pay taxes will have vanished.

Consider what actually happened. A group of unelected county employees knee-jerked an unconstitutional order without consulting their own lawyers and worse yet, with no consideration as to how it looks at face value. How stupid and deluded are they?
At least, now we know public health is an area that needs to be addressed so we are never subject to the whims of these unelected idiots again,

This was a Tempest in a Teapot. If the C.C. health services would ever have the nerve to asked for the list of names and contact info of church attendees simply tell them to pound sand. What are you going to do?

The funny thing is CoCoCounty isn’t even following their own orders. At their public health site there’s over 100 employees working less than 6ft apart every day. They don’t care if you’re elderly or high risk individuals, they won’t accommodate you working from home even with a doctors note!!! Staff and management are coughing & sneezing and all they say is “I have allergies” and are allowed to stay and work. It’s ridiculous!!!!

Obviously the Lawyers arrived and gave them a tutorial.
Lawyers get a bad rap, but when we get reminded what it would be like to live in a completely different legal system: more administration, less case law and precedent – it makes me darn appreciative. Give me a litigious but decentralized system over a centralized bureaucracy any day.

Agreed. I called in yesterday and spoke to a supervisor at length.
I was surprised when she called me back today, to notify me that the mandate had just been downgraded to a recommendation.
AH Yes, . . . . backpedaling without mirrors.
Keep lists of who attends religious services? Who penned this one, Hitler?
So when you go into the theater, restaurant, shopping, gym do you have to provide your name and phone number, “just in case?”

Maybe they hired a County Counsel who understood and respected the Constitution.
Or maybe, a whole bunch of other lawyers explained the errors of their ways and convinced them to repent of their sins.
