Anyone heard anything from you Concord “Leaders”?

I haven’t seen or heard anything.

If those guys are what you want for leaders, well, …

They’re not leaders, they are representatives and not very good ones at that.

Concord never set a curfew on its own, but we were under the county’s 8PM curfew. The county did cancel the curfew as of today. It was hurting businesses, and it was becoming a focal point for more potential protest. Other parts of the Bay Area are also cancelling their curfews, like Berkeley city council voted to end theirs.

Natalie, Concord still has a curfew of 8pm saw it on the news last night and on City of Concord website. I never even heard that they had their own on top of the Counties.

Cellophane, Laura is in fact serving as a Concord Councilperson right now, and voters have consistently returned her to that Council for many terms. She has been our Mayor at least twice.

City of Concord declared it’s own curfew June 2.
IT HAS NOT BEEN RESCINDED. IT REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MONDAY.

Hey Natalie, it often pays to do just a little bit of simple research before you post a comment.

That doesn’t make her a leader.

Well there goes the neighborhood!

Walnut Creek is always last because of the tight girdle senility in City Council.
Everyone’s out anyway. tonight. End it!

@Aunt Barbara –
You noticed the girdles too? I thought I was the only one!
I was walking behind one of the city council VIPs several years ago and noticed that over the girdle was a very, very high quality knit suit, likely St. John’s (= $3,000) with a lovely pair of red soled shoes, and the nicest black handbag. Too bad the brains don’t match the brands.

Why?

Why make a stand and then rescind so soon?
Please this is stupid ! What are we teaching our young people?

It says very clearly that the conditions which precipitated the curfew no longer exist.

Why is mc Donald’s closed so early….. I just wanted a smoothie and fries:/

Will the city of clayton explain why the police attacked peaceful protesters who were in public right of way and not looting or damaging public and private property? Is there anything that justified the police firing teargas on peaceful protesters. Will these police officers be arrested for attacking people with chemical weapons? Did Laura Hoffmeister, a city of Concord council member, had a role in the police response and if so will she push for the same action against Concord residents who protest peacefully? What support and services did the city of Concord, or other public agencies, provide to the city of clayton? Does Clayton or Concord city council continue to support POA and give them raises while making cuts elsewhere when people are asking for improvements to public infrastructure?

They were not “attacked” they were “dispersed” after violating curfew, refusing to obey the law and officers instructions to leave.
Protesters were forced to go to their parents cars waiting to pick them up and drive them back home.

Because they were violating the curfew which was in place at the time. I don’t agree with it but if there is a curfew then you better go home. At least they didn’t start shooting rubber bullets like they did in Minnesota. I saw a video on FaceBook of people being shot on their front porch with rubber bullets for not going inside when told to.

@ Adam – it was the CCC sheriff’s dept that deployed the gas not the CPD. It was deployed because that day there was a 6pm curfew that the peaceful protesters felt didn’t apply to them…you can’t just ignore laws that you feel are unfair or don’t apply to you. Chemical weapons please, stretching it a little bit to fit the narrative?

I disagree with the police using excessive force if that was the case.
However, I disagree far more with the cities that let their protesters break curfew as long as they were peaceful.

Only in Bizarro World should all the law abiding citizens be locked up while the people who defy the law, in front of the police too, are allowed to be out and about with no consequences.

The city of Berkeley had a string of resignations, yet new younger recruits came forward to apply, went through academy and got hired to refill the ranks. These newer recruits get better training on community policing, and deescalation, in addition to all the tactical and investigative training needed to be on the force.

Maybe the people who are resigning from NYPD are the people who should be resigning. They will be replaced. Being an officer is still a good paying job. Even though people are protesting for police reform and police accountability, the idea of police institutions is still supported by the majority of Americans.

Within the next couple of weeks, when the massive increase in Covid cases the screaming Karens are expecting never materiallizes, all business owners in CoCoCo and in Clayton in particular need to tell the County to blow goats and open everything back up. A year from now the shutdowns will be looked upon as the biggest policy mistake in US history. Countless businesses destroyed and lives lost over what amounts to a normal flu virus with a 0.26% fatality rate. It is beyond time to end this stupidity and get back to normal living. If any business owner is reading this, tell the “authorities” to pound sand and open your business back up. Do not let them bankrupt you over a false hysteria.

…and I feel sorry for the law abiding citizens here in CA too. Crime will go unchecked even more now.

@Cellophane…The PD managers had no idea there was even a county curfew until it was brought to their attention. Then had no plan in place. And notice how the Concord PD social media has not posted any jazzy new videos?

@Adam..It is pretty simple. Protest all you like but once the protest is declared an unlawful assembly, go home.

There are at least three protests planned for today including Clayton, Walnut Creek and Pleasanton. This is on the city council if it goes south.

@ Barbie Girl – you are 100% correct!!!

This smells of fake news. Why exactly would a cop resign from a department other than for the usual personal reasons? Keep in mind that nearly everyone in law enforcement is a decent person who also really wanted to get into the field. You don’t just walk away.

There’s nothing in recent news about the New York City police department that mentions resignations nor even hints at reasons for more than the usual numbers of officers o resign. They are past the COVID-19 surge. There is some coverage as NY state governor Andrew Cuomo accused cops of failing to contain widespread looting. He later walked that back and is now trying to re-frame it with “The actual police officers are the best. My issue was with the management and deployment. Never about the police officers.” I doubt many, if any, cops resigned over governor Cuomo’s comments.

Since the Clayton City Manager hired in December resigned effective the end of May, what did Laura Hoffmeister do, appoint herself Acting Director of Emergency Services? Or, did Julie Pierce do that? Do you get the feeling all these people are related?
