The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday in the noon hour.
Despite all the setbacks we’ve all experienced in 2020, everyone has had at least one good thing happen to them in the past five months.
No matter how small, name one good thing that’s happened to you in 2020.
Talk about it.
Started new job after being at the previous job for 9 years. Kept job even after SIP, very thankful!
I retired after 23 years with Mt. Diablo School District.
I still have my job….thank goodness.
I learned how to properly store and operate my gun
For maintaining a 4.0 GPA at DVC consistently, I’ve been granted Lifetime Membership to Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society., known as AGS.
Some of the requirements are:
– Maintain an overall 3.5 GPA
– Complete 60 units or more
– Be a member of AGS for at least 1 year.
It will be notated on my official transcripts for other colleges to see when I apply.
DVC Student, that isn’t something good that just happened to you……YOU made it happen and for that, you should be very proud. Congrats to you and good luck!
Congrats !
Even 40 years ago, my AGS membership award made me feel someone still valued hard work, dedication, and sacrifice.
I appreciate your logical and well articulated contributions on this site.
I assume you are a young adult and so hope you can help promote common sense to a generation that seems to be lacking it.
Stay safe.
Congratulations DVC student! Keep it up!!
Pics or it didn’t happen! – Hahaaa
Good job, DVC Student! Well done!
DVC Student – Wow! A 4.0 in college is a very difficult thing. Good job working so hard. Lucky University that gets you!
Our pets are happy to see us more often. They’re talking about it amongst each other. My husband and I are happy about it too. They own and rule our home.
I got to be an extra in the Matrix 4 movie filming in SF in February.
Pics or it didn’t happen! – Hahaaa
Got paid for it, too….
Were you able to find out what the plot is about for Matrix 4?
What was occurring in the scene during the shoot?
IMDb . com page says no plot known.
I retired.
Waking up and moving around every day is a blessing…..there isn’t just one good thing.
Here’s two, as we need a few. Didn’t get the Virus/knock on wood and received Professional Support from Walnut Creek PD when family member was victim of a crime.
All of your responses above are killing me…. Hahaaaa
You guys remind me of my Thanksgivings when we’re forced to go around the table & say what we’re thankful for and my family gives your sarcastic/funny responses.
Keep it up – I love sarcasm.
I paid off my Macys, Sears and Mastercard, AND I made an extra payment on my Auto loan.
Most likely will be able to work from home on a permanent basis now. Instead of getting up at 4:30am to fight traffic. And doing twice as much yoga as I was before.
Ugh, I’m not a morning person, one reason I like working retail, that would kill me. Years ago I owned a franchise business, Diet Center, we opened at 7 a.m. so people could check in before work, meaning I had to get up around 5:30 a.m. I never got over feeling tired while I had that business.
I turned 40 back in January and was able to take a 10 day cruise, which included the Panama Canal locks and and awesome jungle tour in Costa Rica.
Congratulations DVC student! Keep it up!!
Can’t think of one.
Rough one thus far…
My grandson was born in April, joining his older sister 31/2 years old.
Moved into a new home.
I have a great grand daughter – born on 5/24 and finally got to hold her in person a week ago!!!!!
I’ve lost weight as I’m not eating out as much. I’m also saving money on food and on gas. I’m getting a refund from AAA so that’s more money in my pocket. I’ve also been able to do some things around the house that i’ve been putting off. Most of all, it’s all this extra time I’ve spent with my family. Yes, my wife and I have snapped at each other a few times, but really it has made me realize how much I love my family and I will really miss all this quality time I’ve spent with them when things get back to normal. I’m hoping telecommuting will become the new normal as I discovered I can be just as productive at home as I am at work.
Spending so much more time with my adorable grand kids and we got a new puppy.
Moved out of California to a state where the taxes are lower, gas prices are lower and housing prices are lower. The only thing I miss about Calif are my friends and nothing else!
👍
I had my first grand child (grandson) in January, 2020. Fortunately, he is only 3.5 hours away when SIP is lifted.
This lockdown and the cancellation of college classes and our travel plans was actually a big blessing. We were to leave our college kids at home and school while we traveled. The same week as the lockdown, my daughter suffered her first grand mal seizure in 9 years. She was face down under her bed. Luckily I was home, heard the dog bark, and found her. Thereby I was able to get to her and turn her over so she could breath. Thank you God, your timing is perfect timing.
Oh no! My youngest has GM seizures and they’re terrifying. We’re on medication #6 to try to control them. He once had a seizure in the bathroom, fell down into the tub, hit his head, broke off the ceramic soap dish that was installed in the wall and worse of all: he couldn’t breathe. It took years off my life.
Daughter & Son-in-Law (retiring from Coast Guards), with their dog, are able to finally leave Cordova Alaska June 8th, and spend a bit of time in California. Then to Maryland to sell their house and find new jobs and place to live somewhere on the west coast. 🙂
Please allow me two things.
1) FINALLY, it became cool to be a germaphobe. I have a feeling people will stop looking cockeyed at me for wiping down my shopping cart and I’d be cool with it if the handshaking moratorium becomes part of the new abnormal.
2) I imagine the SIP has caused some extroverts to experience a world that’s out of THEIR comfort zone. Introverts live in a world that’s overwhelmingly suited to extroversion and I’ve often wondered if it’s ever occurred to many just how uncomfortable and difficult that misalignment is. Welcome to my world!
Was able to make 3 baseball games in Scottsdale AZ first week in March.
I got to throw away my 2020 appointment book!
The bad: We had 3 vacations cancelled due to the Wuhan Flu and we lost our cat of 19 years.
The good: We’re getting our 11th and 12th grandchildren this year and all of our family is healthy.
Overall: A good year.
My son was born just days before the shelter in place orders began
Congratulations ! !
I was able to go to a sewing retreat before everything closed down.
Took my kids hiking to 5 first-time, East regional park trails and repeated ones for the past two months. Now we’re headed to the Sierras!
Best thing in 2020? I went on a small ship cruise (7 passenges, 3 crew) down in the Sea of Cortez. Highlight was touching a baby Grey Whale in a birthing lagoon.
Worst thing to happen in 2020? Had to evacuate Mexico early due to the Chinese Virus and came back to a dystopian California.
Have a dentist appointment scheduled–finally! Please-don’t-destroy-the-office please-don’t-destroy-the-office…
Yes! I too get to have a crown replaced at the dentist. I am happy about that.
They like to steal the nitrous oxide tanks.
My whole family learned how to use Zoom and now we have a once a week get together from our different states.
I’ve been able to work from home for the first time in my career. Don’t miss taking BART into the city at all. Saving lots of $$$.
Got promoted to manager 🙂
I got divorced! Hallelujah
