Good Samaritan Rescues Injured German Shepherd, Still Looking For Dog’s Owner

A good samaritan saved a lost, injured black German Shepherd on Saturday, and she’s still looking for its owner.

Here’s her story:

“Are you missing your 70ish pound black German Shepherd? If so, I took it to Animal Control on Saturday afternoon. It was limping and running fast down the middle of Clayton Road near Claycord Ave at about 2:00. The car in front of me had to slam on its brakes to avoid it. I do not know if it was hit, but it is injured–possibly from running so far and fast on the hot pavement. I followed it for about two miles, and when it, finally, stopped running, and I tried to capture it so that it would not run onto Concord Blvd, two neighbors came to my aid with a bowl of water, and, instead of drinking it, the dog jumped into my car. I could not get it out of my car, although it was very sweet and showed no aggression. He/she (?) was quite comfortable but injured. I drove him/her to Animal Control in Martinez, and they are treating him/her. The dog has a chip, but AC was not able to tell me if the dog is registered. I asked that they provide the owner with my phone number. If you are the owner (or know the owner), there is more to share. Please contact me here. To the woman and gentleman on Wilson Lane who gave me their dog’s treats, I tried to locate you, but I could not identify your house. Thank you for your kindness. I want to return the dog food to you. To the two gentlemen who came to my aid, THANK YOU!! At first I was afraid of the dog, but your help and presence helped me to feel less afraid.”

Thank you for helping the dog. And also thank you to all those that helped you as well.

Thank you indeed!

You likely saved it’s life. Big heart my friend…

Thank you for helping her and saving her from getting ran over.

Thank you for helping her!! I hope her owner is found or she can be adopted. You are very kind.

Sorry – didn’t mean to add my comment as. “Reply”. It was intended for the person who found the dog.

Thank you for rescuing the dog and I’m so glad the dog let you rescue her/him!!! And a thank you as well to the others who helped you!!!

A very warm and kindhearted story. Thank you for sharing.

A huge thank you for saving that beautiful dog!

We need more people like you.

Hope if this beautiful dog isn’t claimed by someone that the Martinez shelter doesn’t put him down

Anyone who goes out of the way to help and rescue an animal has my admiration and support. Anyone who mistreat or abuse animals has my contempt and disrespect.

Thank you very much for saving my girlfriend and I dog, our dog Loki has recurved the proper medical care and we are very grateful.

Wonderful news. I know how it feels when a pet goes missing, had a couple of cats that was gone for a few days. One had been locked in a neighbor’s garage, the other just wondered off, but fortunately came back and was fine.

Hello Joseph! You are welcome! It was my pleasure to come to the aid of Loki. He/she seems to be a very sweet dog who took to me instantly. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Would you please contact me because there is much more to this story that you should know. Would you please send your contact info to Claycord.com, and, perhaps, they can forward it to me. Thank you, kindly!

Joesph Troung… is this dog in the photo above your dog???
What a great story for both the humans and dog involved here…
This made my day….

You’re a good person for doing this and I hope this dog goes home soon. Sounds like he said, “forget the water, I’m hurt. Get me to the hospital and step on it!”

Thank you for likely saving this dog’s life. Glad to see that Loki was reunited with her owners so quickly. Guess that he was aptly named.

Ohhh I am getting old. Even happy storys make me cry. What a great story. Thank you for caring and helping.
