A Concord man arrested Wednesday faces arraignment Tuesday morning in Contra Costa County Superior Court for allegedly setting two grass fires that burned a combined 18 acres, Cal Fire said.

Joshua David Smith, 38, was arrested on suspicion of two counts arson.

Formal charges were filed Friday by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office. On Saturday, he remained in the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $450,000 bail bond.

The fires Smith is connected to are a May 6 blaze on Marsh Creek Road that burned 13 acres, and another the next day that burned five acres.

What an ass. I hope he pays dearly, if guilty.

I wonder if he can be tied to the 655-acre Marsh Fire that occurred two days earlier?

This may sound extreme, but I don’t see how this guy can ever walk free again. His actions can result in people, livestock, and wildlife, dying horrible fiery deaths. As mutual assistance assets are brought in from surrounding areas, response times can be compromised in those areas, too. Whatever is wrong with his brain, we can’t fix it. He is not safe to be out of a cage.

Burn him at a stake.

This is a serious crime to Humanity! since this kind of fires started by losers affect and kill everything in their path including people, trees, wildlife, people’s houses, dreams and the environment .. This idiots should charged and punished accordingly.

If found guilty treat him like a Salem witch.

Horrifying.

I guess my previous post was considered too vulgar so I’ll say it this way. We have no time for this BS (arson), what with Covid-19, a tanking economy, and an upcoming election that has proven to be politicized to the maximum, so we should deal with this person in an extremely expeditious and harsh way. You know, to send a strong message. My apologies to the PC police here at Claycord.

William Golding was right…

@. Janus.
“I have always understood the Nazis because I am of that sort by nature.” William Golding. Interesting, but I don’t see what it has to do with any of this. Perhaps you were thinking of a different William Golding quote?
