East Bay MUD To Resume Construction Projects By Mid-May

The East Bay Municipal Utility District, which provides water to 1.4 million people in Alameda and Contra Costa counties, says it will resume construction projects in mid-May after putting all but essential work on hold during the coronavirus shelter-in-place order.

EBMUD says its workers and the contractors it uses “will follow all protective measures to the greatest extent possible.”

In an announcement, the utility said, “Due to the nature of the work, maintaining six feet of distance isn’t always possible and crews may sometimes need to lift facial coverings to be heard clearly over the sound of machinery. We ask that you maintain six feet of distance from workers.”

Wow do you think that’s ok? Are we allowed to build and maintain our water systems. I mean its not really essential Is it? Asking for a friend

Does no one see this comment for the satire it is? Oh man. What’s happened to this place?

Dan May 12, 2020 - 10:49 AM - 10:49 AM

@Sam

It seems like this is good news. I understand that you are upset with the shutdown but that is largely coming to an end. EBMUD is moving in the direction you were hoping. Why are you angry with an entity who does what you want?

Sam May 12, 2020 - 11:38 AM - 11:38 AM

What makes you think I’m angry? One does not need anger to point out idiocy. Its obvious that water is essential to life. I’m very happy with the progress being made identifying the corrupt players in this game. You are correct in that America is being made great. Thanks for playing your part.

ZZ May 12, 2020 - 11:40 AM - 11:40 AM

Wow, two months behind in construction projects? That’s will be a convenient (padded) tax on the people further on down the road.

Dan May 12, 2020 - 11:43 AM - 11:43 AM

@ Sam – you and Donald Trump have alot in common. You both make largely incoherent arguments that leave me scratching my head asking “what was all that about?”

Gittyup May 12, 2020 - 12:11 PM - 12:11 PM

@Dan Just because you don’t understand them doesn’t make them incoherent.

Sam May 12, 2020 - 12:17 PM - 12:17 PM

“Water is essential to life” if that confuses you, I think you should remove your mask so your brain can get a little oxygen.

Dan May 12, 2020 - 12:49 PM - 12:49 PM

@Gittyup – incoherent is defined as “without logical or meaningful connection” which is a good description of most of what Sam has to say.

As for Sam, I agree that water is essential for life. Perhaps EBMUD determined that these projects were not immediately essential in the maintenance of their system. It may surprise you but there is an actual process that public entities must go through before the can call a project essential. Among other things, they need to have a finding from their elected board. Perhaps the Board did not believe these fall into that category. I’m still confused by “you are correct in that America is being made great. Thanks for playing your part.” Maybe that wasn’t aimed at me but it has nothing to do with anything I’ve said… which is why I feel like your comments are largely confusing and incoherent.

Sam May 12, 2020 - 1:30 PM - 1:30 PM

That’s where you get it exactly wrong in your analysis of what I say. The words “logical and meaningful” are highly subjective words and not an adequate definition of incoherent.
definition: (of spoken or written language) expressed in an incomprehensible or confusing way; unclear.

The fact that what I say has been confusing to you, is an obvious reflection of your cognitive ability and critical thinking abilities. I know you like to sound smart and are learned in the arts of deception and repetition but your mind games don’t work here. PS: I’m not angry, I thought you were a cheerleading for the opening of America ie MAGA. Sorry that you appear offended by it

dan May 12, 2020 - 2:41 PM - 2:41 PM

@ Sam Sorry you dont like the definition of incoherent. You might need to petition the English language to have it changed. I pulled it right from the dictionary. By the way, I wasn’t offended by your comments, I simply did not understand them.

Sam May 12, 2020 - 3:28 PM - 3:28 PM

So it’s settled..MAGA is important to you. That’s awesome dan congratulations. For the future you should be aware there are several different publishers of..“the dictionary”. The bottom line is you didn’t comprehend what I was saying. You’re a smart guy but I’ll talk slower next time

dan May 12, 2020 - 3:36 PM - 3:36 PM

@Sam – I think America is great. I do not agree with Trump on many issues and as such distance myself from his MAGA slogans – and quite honestly, I dont think he needed to reinvent American and make it great again. You can talk as slow or as fast as you want … it’s not going to change the fact that you haven’t said anything of substance and most of what you say is largely incoherent.

Sam May 12, 2020 - 4:11 PM - 4:11 PM

Translation: I have not said anything that you want to hear. I have said nothing that props up the statistical farce that you recite here daily on all threads that question the narrative of your tribe. Got it.

Sam May 12, 2020 - 4:15 PM - 4:15 PM

As far as discussion. I know your type, you don’t want discussion. You actively attempt to close discussion. Seen it, lived it, laughed at it and now your type is on the retreat as California turns completely red you will be in the minority.

RANDOM TASK May 12, 2020 - 12:58 PM - 12:58 PM

I believe it is this last paragraph that is the hitch

In an announcement, the utility said,
“Due to the nature of the work,
maintaining six feet of distance isn’t always possible
and crews may sometimes need to lift facial coverings to be heard clearly over the sound of machinery.
We ask that you maintain six feet of distance from workers.”

I saw it and said exactly what I believe others are saying

the demorats found a way to make any mention of covid a PC moment

I mean explaining that construction workers may have to lift their masks to be hears around machinery

so they are saying that the covid police citizens need to be instructed not to attack construction workers for lifting their masks …as well as any one around the construction workers needs a mask…..

uuummmm there should be nobody around construction workers with heavy machinery ….at all if they are close enough to a worker they are in danger as construction is inherently dangerous at all times

and again the notion that workers are going to maintain a imaginary circle around themselves is also utterly a ridiculous statement as well

the fact that someone had to write this and extrapolate the meanings is the asinine part that is in question I believe

same as people running for exercise with a mask on breathing in their own carbon monoxide …….

or that the gov sent a billion dollars of road money to china and we the people got none …..as well as he did it on the sly which means how much money did exchange hands if the whole deal was under the table so to speak ….not to mention china is a enemy at this point holding no responsibility to the world

if the US had even affected the tiniest country the eu and who and the rest of the whining world would have skewered us and demanded reparation’s

all the money each country had to dole out and all their people who suffered will get nothing but a recurring virus ….courtesy of communist socialists who believe they are above reproach

and the world will bend the knee so they don’t appear to the biased or racists or anything that would be against the PC POLICE

Ebmud employee May 12, 2020 - 7:49 PM - 7:49 PM

It’s very humorous reading your talk about EBMUD’s policy while none of you work here. The political aspect of this virus and how the unions have used it to dictate workplace policy has been insane to watch. Anyways. Carry on.
