The City of Concord announced today it has canceled the summer concert series, Music & Market and Tuesday Night Blues.
After closely monitoring local health orders and national guidelines designed to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the City determined that its annual concerts, cannot be held as originally scheduled.
Hopefully they will reschedule these events. If not, I’ll have one helluva block party when the shutdown ends. You’re all invited.
Thank you for the invite but, I refuse to be safer than sorry. people say if you are scared than you do not have to join the party.
No promisees, but perhaps down the road Concord Couch Concerts can feature some of Concord’s favorite re-occurring annual guests like Zepperella, Foreverland, etc…
Of course, the acts would have to accept playing for tips just like our local folks. Either that or the City or its residents will have to figure out a way to foot the bill. But we could certainly host or help out in other ways.

Zepperella! Love those gals!!!
Those are my two favorite bands too Unfortunately those will be cancelled as well. but yes we can help them by letting them by having a Virtual concert and just donate them $$$
Cool story. No one cares who you or your friends are voting for.
Also, *goes.
So what’s the City going to do with all the money they’re saving?
I’d bet that’s it’s already disappeared.
**Not fix the roads
The money will go to another homeless outreach program.

Summer concerts cost at least $10K a year if cancelled I think they will save it for next summer only if they can otherwise yes they will waste it on homeless shelter if they have to. I am assuming the city will save the money for next summer. keeping my finger cross.
I agree. I lived in a Socialist country. Trump is “hands off”. Damn
dems are trying to dictate us and calling him a dictator!
Cancelling the summer series is socialist? The summer concert is free music for all people of any economic status, funded through donations and government money. It wasn’t exactly a model of capitalism.
If Trump told Concord that we had to have a concert series or else our city would be punished, or politicians removed from office, that actually would be an act of dictatorship.
I thought Conservatives were made of sterner stuff. We are all asked to make small sacrifices in our lives. It hasn’t been the “snowflake” Liberals complaining about it; it’s been Conservatives.
Socialist government morons taking over. We can’t make our own decisions. They know better. Tired of this BS.
I do not think Trump really cares if we have a concert or not it really up to the city what they do this summer. There no way that Trump cannot make us have a concert. Missouri already gonna allow concerts now.
Yes, summer is good for the spirit I agree sometime you cannot always have concerts when something unexpected like this happening now.
This is absolutely ridiculous
Wait until the end of May and you may change your mind.
Ozzie
Good Point
THANKS, CHINA!!!!!!
You mad bro? Straight landslide.. its gonna be a glorious and definitive victory. Collect those tears in a jar
Oh my gosh Sam where did you get that ideal???
Collecting tears in the jar is like a life there will not be a tomorrow.
I know I will miss seeing city staff member especially Carolyn and Edi collecting money in the jar that the fun part. we will see that next year
Since it is only 60 days away and the event draws large public crowds; I assume the Concord 4th of July Parade and Firework show is also canceled as well?
life is cancelled in California
Can we reset the year and play the Super Bowl again?
Aunt Barbara.
Well, I would not say anything negative like that to say life is Cancelled in California. but at least just this summer I hope will be cancelled.
Yes Joe…. Many people care who Sam and his friends are voting for… That’s why there are elections…. People want you to vote one way or another…
I vote foe Sam !
Typo..I was so excited…its… for
Ha, right on. Im just a soldier battling for our collective minds. TDS is real, the 5th column is real, the fear is real. The media has destroyed our people’s minds for too long. Time to get serious about the future you want to live in
Fourth of July parade will be next.
Christmas remains to be seen.
Xmas will be fine. Corona will magically disappear after Nov. 4th.
Unless the second wave of the CV dose not crash I am keeping my finger cross for the virus to disappear too.
Some people are so ignorant To blame this on a so-called hoax
Seriously..no time for that we got murder hornets to worry about now..
I just seen that on fox. The dems will blame it on Trump.
The election is in 2022. No one will remember.
Don’t let Trump steal the election. DEMAND voter ID
What about Concord Pavilion, season also canceled ?
If so how much money will city not get ?
who cares about the pavillian gonna be great without the summer concert my cousin lives near the pavillian will be quieter and less traffic.
Well that blows china bats
I will miss Zepperella. There’s always next year.
KD
I said the same thing as well as the foreverland
I hope they’ll bring the Music & Market back. We usually go to every show – it’s always a fun evening.
So how long is this charade going to go on? No sports, concerts, fairs, bowling, movies, graduation ceremonies, clubbing, bingo, bars, or gun shows. That’s it! This is all about getting rid of gun shows!
ZZ
I will miss all of it you mention but the gun shows I do not care for gun shows at all. not my cup of tea.
The Martinez farmers market on Sunday was pretty busy I took a picture amd there was definitely nobody socially distancing. Why can’t Concord have a farmers market or food truck series or a concert in the park?
And I am one to err on the side of caution but These are two cities in the same county. Just have police officers out making sure families are separated from each other and being safe.
Concord High has started hosting the Tuesday Farmers Market with guidelines in place.
Concord farms market is back open at Concord High school on Tuesday from 10 -2.
Money they’re saving? You mean losing.
There’s pre-sale tickets fees to return, loss of parking fees, loss of merchandising fees, loss of food/drink revenue, broken contracts with the artists and the ticketing agencies, which I’m sure isn’t easy to untangle, there’s food and drink ordered that they may have which they can’t use and may not last long enough for another season, there’s marketing money spent for nothing, materials for this year that were ordered that can’t be used, personnel that were working at the venue for a season that won’t happen, gardening/maintenance that occurred for nothing. There could have even been improvements made that won’t be realized for another year.
This just adds to the list of more revenue lost by the city. It’s not going to be pretty.
This was in regards to the concerts in Todos Santos… there is no ticketing, no parking fees… yadda yadda.
I’ve been taking my 23-month-old granddaughter to those concerts since she was about two months old. They are such a special time for us. She even has her own backpack of instruments. Looking forward to 2021!
Paid a pretty penny to see Journey at the end of the month at the pavillon.
I’m hoping to be refunded once they cancel it but I’m sure I’m SOL! Ugh
Announced, today, that the entire tour is cancelled. You SHOULD be hearing from LiveNation, though I wouldnt hold my breath on that.
@Mom in Clayton – If you bought your tix online – check your email. You should get an email explaining how to get a credit or refund.
I am not surprise at all I knew was gonna happen I was expecting for the summer concerts to be cancelled due to the uncertain time being now. There always next summer.
I would rather delay the concert right now than to have concert now for our own safety. Safer than sorry.
I am not sad about the concert I am happy. we need to stop the spread of virus.
Together we can get through this.
Anybody hear if the Clayton concerts are canceled too? I assume they are.
And I have tics to the Journey show later in May, haven’t heard yet on that status but assume that will cancel too.
I got an email from Ticketmaster explaining their policy etc. It sounds fair. It depends on how you bought your tix. If it was online or at the box office, or if you bought resale tickets. If you bought online through Ticketmaster, it seems like it will be pretty easy. If you haven’t received an email yet, you prob will shortly.
The Live Nation website for the Concord pavilion shows that Journey was cancelled as was Brad Paisley.
Expect to see more cancellations there.
