Golf Courses Reopening Monday After Shelter Order Modification

Bay Area golfers anxious to hit the links will be in luck Monday as some golf courses plan to reopen following a modification of the region’s shelter-in-place order due to the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties and the city of Berkeley announced an extension of the regional order Wednesday morning with modifications allowing for the continuation of construction projects and some starting a business that will also install golf simulators.

The new order, which takes effect Monday and will run through May 31, also allows golf courses in those jurisdictions to resume operations, provided they strictly enforce public health policies like physical distancing to prevent the spread of the virus.

Walnut Creek’s Boundary Oak Golf Course announced it would reopen Monday with “appropriate operational and sanitary practices,” including limiting golf carts to one rider, reducing driving range capacity by half and
removing ball washers from the course to reduce opportunities for viral touch points. If you and your family are fond of golfing, this BirdieBall putting matt indoor can be a welcome addition in your garage or backyard.

“We ask that all of our customers assist in strict adherence to these standards as violations could result in the closing of the golf course,” Boundary Oak’s management and staff said in a statement announcing
the reopening. “Any customer not following the rules will be asked to leave the course immediately.”

One per cart makes total sense right? I mean, the wife and I spend enough time at home together, so yah, she can get her own cart.

Good news! It’s the right thing to do.

The counties are regulating things that should be outside of their control because it is certainly beyond their grasp of logic. For example, snail mail is a viral touch point, no? Cash and coins. Shopping carts. Door knobs. Parking meters. I am sure the Claycord community can brainstorm a thousand everyday things that are higher risk than a golf course ball washer. I am off to go pyrolyze my fingertips.

Someone mentioned to me that Delta Fair golf in Antioch had been open into the shutdown as an essential business– but I don’t know for sure. Haven’t been there in a while.

Do you mean Lone Tree? Delta View in Pittsburg has been closed for years.

Diablo Creek will also open. Make a tee time online! I hear they won’t accept walk ups to reduce the foot traffic and possible health threat to workers. Gotta have a mask while checking in. One rider in a cart unless you can show you live with the other person. The range will also be opened. Follow their guidelines so we don’t lose this opportunity. Walking the canal trail is more boring than walking the golf course and I want to get back to it.

So a bunch of people can go wander around a golf course, but I can’t go sit on the beach??? Seriously? SERIOUSLY???

Beaches should be open too along with any public lands/state parks. It would be perfectly safe and the vast majority of peeps would honor social distancing. Remember Newsom is from the same party that wants to outlaw straws, soda, keep borders open, provide sanctuary to criminal illegal aliens, give tax payer money to illegal aliens, tolerate the public filth in SF, let prisoners out of jail. Take common sense and invert it and there you have it – liberal insanity. As a fifth gen native Northern California, you have to wonder where all of these socialists and communists came from who continue to destroy a once great state.

Golf course operators can limit the number of people who enter a course, and can better keep on eye on distancing, and sanitation.

With beaches, it’s much harder to do crowd control, and harder to maintain distancing. Pacifica and Half Moon Bay were so overwhelmed by visitors, that law enforcement was called to turn people away.

There are still many other nature areas you can visit.

Newsom announced his weakness within a few days of taking office when he announced his “No Tax On Tampax” law. He’s whipped! He takes orders from the strong women in his life, likely Auntie Nancy Pelosi at this point.

Some of you voted for these people so look in the mirror if this applies to you.

Sorry the recall dose not mean anything because the California Attorney General refuses to turn in the petition to recall Newson because the AG likes Newson:( Good Luck with the recall.

Yay. I can finally social distance while playing golf. The same way I’ve been playing golf the last ten years. Thanks Cali for the “official” but not needed permission

Be thankful the King restored your privileges. And show your papers when asked.

Complain, complain, complain…

Are you complaining about the complaining?

Hah hah no – giggling about it.

This recall effort is 4 years old. The fundraiser is shut down. I don’t think this is active. And even if it is, 900,000 signatures are needed. To make this successful, you’d have to do major media campaigns, like back when Gray Davis was recalled. Not holding my breath for this to work, tough it is a nice dream.

I thought the whole point of golf was to get away from your wife?

Agit84freedon, these people who support all the bans are young very young. Easily manipulated and think they are fighting the good cause. Maturity breeds common sense. Our Govenor does not live in the real world, he is not out in the public having to deal with what he has created. Which he should be it would teach him a lesson or two. I am only a second generation Californian and what has happened to our once beautiful state makes me very sad.

I noticed that sloat nursery decided on their own to open last week .

They want to have appropriate sanitary practices so they’re removing ball washers from the golf course. Welcome to the new normal. Golfers will have to learn to play with dirty balls.

I guess it’s been awhile for you. I don’t remember the last time I saw a ball washer on a golf course. The joke would have been funny back then, though.

Want a bunch of signatures? It should be pretty easy to collect them in the parking lot of the SoCal beaches that are closed.

The gentlemen already know, so this is for you ladies…”remember to wash your balls, before you head out to the golf course”

The places I hit my golf ball make social distancing a forgone conclusion.

My handicap has always been the windmill.

Do the new rules allow car dealerships to sell cars in person?

Never have understood the point of, hit a ball with a stick then walk around trying to find it.

The point is to get good enough with the stick that the ball goes where you want.

Little Gav. Remember the last time we recalled a Gov? Yea the DUMB A$$ people couldn’t even figure out the way the Ballet was layed out. Oh yea we bounced a GOP Gov.. and elected a Super Hero Gov. That was a total S#it Show and made the State of California the laughing stock of the Union.

“That was a total S#it Show and made the State of California the laughing stock of the Union.”

From which it has never recovered, and under the current circumstances never will.

My office window faces Diablo Creek Golf Course, they only shut the golf course down when they were sanding the greens. There has been golfers out there just about everyday. In fact I’m watching 4 gentleman walking together as I’m typing this. They just hoped into 2 golf carts off to the next hole.
