Gov. Newsom Considers Opening Schools In July, Says It Could Be Several Months Before You Can Get A Haircut Again In California

Governor Gavin Newsom on Tuesday said it could be months before you can get a haircut, attend a sporting event, or go to the movie theater in California.

Newsom announced the state expects to begin reopening the economy in phases in a handful of weeks as coronavirus cases stabilize and decline.

State public health officials have concluded that current indicators like coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and intensive care admittance show that the state may be able to relax and modify its shelter-in-place order for “low-risk” workplaces, including manufacturing facilities and some open spaces and parks.

Newsom said the state is framing a reopening of the economy in four phases, with the first two phases being planning and reopening low-risk businesses and workplaces, respectively.

“Phase two is really the phase that is upon us, we believe, in the next few weeks and perhaps most important in terms of at least getting everyone’s attention and focus so that we can prepare for it in real time,” Newsom said.

The third phase, including opening higher-risk businesses such as hair and nail salons, and the fourth phase, resuming large public events like concerts and sporting events, are likely still several months away, according to Newsom, and the latter will require significant, documented herd immunity, a vaccine or both.

Newsom said the state electing to loosen its shelter-in-place order will not impact local jurisdictions like some in the Bay Area that want to continue enforcing stricter public health guidelines due to a larger number of infections.

On Monday, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties along with the city of Berkeley announced plans to extend the Bay Area’s local stay-at-home order through May 31.

State public health officials are analyzing when to begin reopening the state based on a half-dozen factors, including the number of tests completed each day, the needs of hospital and health care systems and the state’s ability to resume a lockdown if coronavirus cases begin to spike again.

Newsom said California is averaging more than 20,000 tests per day, but the state’s goal remains at 60,000 to 80,000 tests daily. In total, some 570,000 tests have been completed throughout the state.

Newsom also said that the state may push the start of the 2020-2021 school year up as early as July to account for the learning loss due to the virus shutting down schools. Doing so would require reorienting classrooms to allow for physical distancing and other public health and safety guidelines.

“I want to caution everybody, if we pull back too quickly and we walk away from our credible commitment to not only bend this curve but to stop the spread of the virus, it could start a second wave that could be even
more damaging than the first and undo all of the good work and progress that you’ve made,” Newsom said.

Health officials around the state have confirmed a total of 45,031 coronavirus cases, including 1,809 deaths, according to Newsom. In addition, 1,181 people are in intensive care due to the virus and 3,455 are currently
hospitalized across the state.

Once again, Have pocketknife will travel…

Sweden has done very well practicing social distancing only, without the lockdown, without the masks, without the tyrant and his daily propaganda speech.

Sweden now has the highest death rate from Covid in Europe.

Not only is their death rate high, it is hugely disproportionate to their population with the elderly taking the hit. I wonder if anyone asked their grandparents if they wanted to sacrifice themselves.

Natalie, mainstream news has been manipulating the Covid19 deaths here in America and abroad to benefit other ignorant people just like you! Get a life and move to some other country where Communists like you can coexist. Then again, you and your Communists have already destroyed CA and most of America. You are a disgrace to humanity! Please go crawl under your rock again with the other roaches!!

Sweden has done great!

-Obtained herd immunity. No worries about 2nd or 3rd waves.

-No need for tracking apps or vaccines sponsored by sociopathic billionaires.

-No collateral damage to the economy or society or civil liberties.

By not conforming, they’ve helped expose the political opportunist and petty tyrants, several of which lord over CA.

Sometimes it only takes one dissenting voice.

Skol!

2355 deaths for the entire country of Sweden is still substantially lower than their total deaths from the annual flu season. If you buy into this crap your politicians and media are feeding you it will be a permanent lockdown.

Natalie – your claim that “Sweden now has the highest death rate from Covid in Europe” is incorrect.

The current “deaths per one million population” data for European countries are listed below. I’ve ignored the little countries (San Marino, Andorra, etc) and the East European countries. Interestingly, the Eastern European countries are all doing quite well compared to the Western European countries. Not sure why – possibly cuz’ there aren’t that many Chinese tourists visiting Bulgaria compared to Italy? Also interesting are Portugal (compared to Spain) and Germany (compared to other large-is countries).

1) Belgium: 633 deaths per million
2) Spain: 510
3) Italy: 453
4) France: 362
5) United Kingdom: 319
6) Netherlands: 266
7) Ireland: 235
8) SWEDEN: 233
9) Switzerland: 196
10) Portugal: 93
11) Germany: 75
12) Denmark: 75
13) Austria: 63
14) Norway: 38
15) Finland: 36

@ Bangers. Please cite your source(s).

Per the Swedish Health Agency, the prior flu season (2018-2019) saw only 505 deaths. For the math-challenged, 505 is a much smaller number than 2355. That means it is NOT ‘substantially lower’ than the current COVID tally (which is expected to get much worse for Sweden).

The CDC says we cannot stop the spread; Newsom says we can. Who do you believe?

Newsom has lost his mind. People need to get back to work now.

People need their teeth cleaned too and dental check ups, fillings, crowns etc Gingivitis= heart disease
Priorities Please!

Thanks the our Governor for keeping us safe while we battle this virus! Feel so fortunate to live in this state versus some other states where this isn’t being taken seriously enough (Texas, Georgia, Florida, etc).

Hey RJ…you’re a whimp. All you little men and hysterical women who think it’s not safe to open our state need to stay home while the rest of us REAL Americans get back to work.

RJ Bet those other states will be doing great and you will be stuck here with Galvin!

Hey RJ…you’re a whimp. All you little men and hysterical women who think it’s not safe to open our state need to stay home while the rest of us REAL Americans get back to work. And RJ, you aren’t participating in a “battle” if you’re hiding in your house. REAL Americans don’t SIP when they are in a battle for their lives and their country. You and Gavin are a disgrace – You and the CCP are an absolute threat to America

When did everyone become so scared? Honest question. Why have Americans given up so much for a little false security? Land of the free, home of the brave..remember? Probably not. This flu has not played out as they claimed it would in any way. We were first told 5 million of our fellow Americans would die in the next few weeks if we did nothing. We shut everything down. Reasonable at first to assess the situation with possible bio/china whatever. But now we see what is but more clearly what it is not. There is no reason to be fighting with people at the store for adjusting their mask. Get out in the sun and stop being so scared. Your welcoming tyranny and begging for it. Don’t let them rule you by fear. Use you brains and research everything for yourself. If nothing else plant a garden and stock up, it’s gonna get rough if we let them keep us this way..

RJ I totally agree with you. Governor Newsom is indeed keeping us safe…and I too am glad I live in California. As for people saying you are a wimp…Ignore them.

99.7% survive the Wuhan Virus. That makes all you SIP slaves little men and hysterical women (i.e. WHIMPS & UNAMERICAN).

To the contrary @IDIOT(appropriate). Yes, my handle is “Safety Second.” So then, what do I consider “First”? Answer: LIBERTY, you idiot. It’s little men and hysterical women like you who are so quick to give up liberty for safety. You deserve neither, you whimp.

They can reopen the economy, and nothing would prohibit you from continuing to stay inside.

That’s called Liberty and the ability to make rational decisions based on YOU and YOUR circumstances.

It’s NOT ok to demand others follow your routine.

Watch out RJ,, Safety Second is clearly superior to all of us “WHIMPS & UNAMERICAN” folk who stay home to save lives. He calls people who challenge his fragile worldview “little men”, or, the more conventionally sexist, “hysterical women”; truly devastating stuff from someone that thinks that spreading disease is patriotic and makes him a “REAL American”. How will anyone that has been struck by SS’s words ever recover?

@Hanne We can’t take your comments seriously because as far as we can tell, you are posting them totally at random while trying to reply to something else we can’t find anywhere near where you comment ends up. It makes your comments meaningless.

@Safety Second – where do you get a 99.7% survival rate? There are 60,000 documented deaths with 1,000,000 reported cases nationwide. That is a 6% mortality rate. That rate may come down as testing increases. There is no science to back your claim of a 99.7% survival rate. It is irresponsible to post incorrect information.

@safety second – call me a wimp (because that is what you do when anybody disagrees with you) but at least I can do basic math.

One word
Tyranny

Hanne,

You never reply on the right post, and you make every post about Trump and Denmark.

So when are doctors’ and dentists’ offices reopening? Urgent and preventative care should never have been shut down in the first place.

I can learn to cut my own hair but I can’t fill my own teeth or treat an infection. TBH, I’m far more worried about getting food poisoning or an infected cut than the plague.

Interesting – I’ve been able to see three different doctors during this time, none for anything COVID-related. maybe you should call to double-check.

You might be able to SEE a doctor but what they are providing is far from comprehensive care. They shoo you in and out as quickly as possible. Been to ER, urgent care and follow up appointments…the care for non covid patients is substandard.

I agree Lizzee!

@Lizzee… That reminds me, if you can’t get to your dentist I do in-house teeth extractions. I have a new pair of Channelocks and a full can of Brakecleen, you supply the anesthesia. Sliding rate, rate goes up if you voted Democrat.

I had a very good experience-tests were comprehensive, treatment plan is working. Heck even our primary care doc called to follow up and to say they’re still open if we need her.

Where are you people coming from. Doctors are available to treat covid and non covid alike. My daughter’s doctor just called to remind us of an upcoming appointment. Please dont spread misinformation. It’s pathetic and makes you just look stupid.

@Lizzee, my dentist has given patients his cell phone number so we can call him if we have a dental emergency. Kaiser has been sending e-mail after e-mail with instructions on how to get urgent care during the pandemic. They’re switching to phone and video appointments whenever possible. So to use your example, if you have an infected cut, you can hold it up to the camera for the doc and she can prescribe an antibiotic that you can pick up at the pharmacy. Routine appointments aren’t available in the medical offices, but you can still get care if you need it.

I think you’re going to need vice grips for that.

I don’t know why anyone would anything logical and coherent from this tinpot wanna be dictator.

He gets his hair cut regularly but the peasants have to wait.

He’s attempting to remake CA to his tyrannical ideals.

He’s nothing more than a throttlebottom.

MY, My, my, . . . seems like only yesterday there were UNelected bureaucrats were telling us to shelter in place thru the end of may.

An governor was threatening “Aggressive Shelter Order Enforcement”

Oh, wait, . . . . it was, . . . . just yesterday.

Did they suddenly realize enforcement of shelter in place is next to impossible on a massive scale ?

Ya know we are so truly fortunate newsom has people magnitudes smarter than he is advising him.
He needs to get his act together and STOP having knee jerk press conferences and press releases. Makes him appear weak, confused and indecisive.

Read it carefully. He’s opening the state in four phases, all non-descript and non-specific. He gives municipalities the power to keep their own SIP rules, so some counties in the state will go back to work, but the Bay Area Counties will remain on lockdown until at least May 31. Of course, Gruesome’s timeline is so vague, it could be June 1 before anything is truly “relaxed”.

Just curious, Gavin. Who has been cutting your lovely slicked down hair? Should have been pretty long by now. Hmmmm? Maybe your barber makes a special visit?

If there is anytime to get out of California now would be it!

As Dandy Don used to sign, “Turn out the lights, the party’s over…”.

@Ann
Just the opposite. I’m a native and I say it’s time to turn this state RED again, and then stay and enjoy everything this beautiful state has to offer.

Ann… Sadly I believe it’s to late for California. And the blue is spreading thew out our country like Cancer.

Gotta love that fake voice and Obama impression. Does he do Elvis, too?

LOL. Thanks, SF; I needed that.

That’s not a fake voice… It’s 15 plus years of smoking… and not just cigaboos. Gavin would not survive this monster wave virus.

Gav is a big phony. Never trust a man with slick backed hair. All he needs is a plaid jacket and he would be a great used car salesman.

If we as a State/Country don’t get back to work very soon our country will collapse. This man is all about power and control.

Gavin thinks hair salons should not be opened because he heard Coronavirus is a hairborne disease.

What statistics does he have that covid19 will more contagious at a barber or hair salon than at going to a grocery store? I haven’t seen Newsom wearing a mask in any video clips, maybe I missed it.

Do you NEED a haircut to survive? Do you NEED to have your hair styled? No. Do you NEED groceries? Yes. Listen to yourself.
If you lost a loved one to Covid-19, you would have a different outlook

Precisely

I was wondering when people were doing to question the absence of his mask

You people don’t get. These small business owners will be able to take better precautions than the supermarkets are doing. They will definitely do a better job of spacing sanitizing. The supermarkets still still fail in those area.

quit trolling

Mike, do these salon owners NEED income? Do they have bills to pay and kids to feed? Do they NEED their businesses to stay solvent?

How many more months can small businesses go without income before they go belly up?

Weird Flex but okay.

My guess is that we won’t be able to get a haircut until we pass another tax increase!

Emperor Ken Doll is way over his skis. This isn’t SF, it’s an entire state, and the DOJ will start enforcing the Constitution.

🇺🇸

This is a medical situation, don’t we want to get a 2nd opinion? Other then from the mainstream freaks who are clearly working in lockstep..

This is such bull.

Newsom – you are garbage. this is fear mongering at its worst

Just before the lockdown I got a very short haircut. I now look homeless and the gov is talking three months before barber shops open. He is out of his mind. Think I will buy a trimmer and cut it all off.

Your now a hip urban dweller in need of manscaping. Think “manbun.”

Dam if you do, dam if you don’t.
Use common sense, this virus don’t discriminate.

Newsom said California is averaging more than 20,000 tests per day, but the state’s goal remains at 60,000 to 80,000 tests daily. In total, some 570,000 tests have been completed throughout the state.

How is he going to accomplish that?

Force people out of their homes for a test?

It’s another one of his unattainable goals.

Just like any other tinpot dictator.

Is it just me, or does it look as if Newsom has had at least one haircut in the past 6 weeks?

It looks like he’s had several. I’ll bet it was a shave and a haircut. You know … how could he be expected to do all that shaving himself? Probably got a manicure and a pedicure while he was at it. Maybe a massage, too, ’cause of the stress. He’s not just the Governor anymore, he’s the noontime tv attraction par excellence … in his head, anyway.

His mistress trimmed THE MESS while his D list actress boring, wife was making MORE videos in Spanish…. check it out

I agree, the governor’s hair looks amazing. Is that what all of your anger and frustration is about – are you jealous of his hair? Truth be told, I am a little but I still really like him. I think he is a GREAT leader – with amazing hair.

I’m sure the scissors used to cut his hair were well lubricated.

@dan Jealous of Greaseball. Hardly. More like repulsed. Authentic, trustworthy leaders lead by example, and the example he is setting shows he’s not suffering like the rest of us. So, why should we follow?

The hair jealousy is amazing.

Hot!?

Hot, no… Goober, Nerd and a Dork all rolled up in one.

I’m all for stopping the spread, but… you can’t have a haircut for several months?? That’s nuts. There has to be a solution. Especially if you have to go into work as essential. It’s could be unsanitary when you start to look like Cousin Itt. I’m already looking like something you would sport in the 80’s.

If you are a guy, buy some balding shears. If you are a woman, buy some scissors.

The tyranny that Newscum spouts does not apply to him. Bet you got a haircut, or two. Bet you if he had rental property, people are paying him. Bet you his kids tutors are still coming by to teach his kids.

So why several months to get a haircut? Why can’t the barber/salon open and practice social distancing by leaving an empty chair between them?

What does the teachers union think about starting school in July? They have been working since the SIP started, so are they expected to come in and teach during their earned time off? Will this apply to private schools? But wait, if we were doing such a great job distance teaching to the young ones, why do we need to start early? I do not know … but does California get Federal money for students in school? If so, could we lose some because we kicked out kids out of the classroom?

Finding a vaccine? Yeah, the smart people say it aint happening for a LONG time, but NewScum can get it done … and he will attempt to hold us hostage by Quarantine until one is created.

I want to see my kids play outside on team sport again so they can learn social and competitive skills. One plays baseball, just a heads up, they stand on the field more than 6 feet apart.

Drump, NewScum and our county politicians are all fools.

@parent – walk me through the mechanics of providing a socially distant hair cut. How does a barber stand six feet away and cut your hair – scissors on a stick? hold your breath? Hair cuts seem awfully important to you. Have you ever thought about exploring this obsession with a therapist? There may be a deeper issue going on here.

@ Dan just stay inside if you are scared or concerned and other’s will make their individual choice as guaranteed by the constitution. Your opinion is no better than anybody else’s…

Hanne, cause I really believe that is who you are … Maybe you are confused on your name.

Barbers can work like they will in other states. Cut occupancy rates by half. Leave the every other chair empty. The barber can wear a mask, the customer can wear a mask.

As for obsession, you picked out 25 words of my entire response which I estimate to be over 200 … and only responded to that. You picked 15% of my entire response and ignored the rest Hanne, maybe you are obsessed. I do not need a haircut, mine is cut every 2 weeks at my house to a cut level of zero/one.

I can tell you I am concerned about barbers/salons because I have two good friends who own salons, but because they are gig workers, they could not collect unemployment until yesterday! They are struggling, along many many other small businesses.

I believe the distance learning is not working out for quite a number of our elementary students here in Concord. One mother I talked to said that only 6 of the students in her daughters fourth grade class were attending the on-line session held by the teacher. Many of those missing may not have home computers or internet to attend these on-line sessions. (cell phones have replaced computers in many households)
If we can start school back up safely in July, that would be a good thing. Staggered classes to help social distancing are good ideas.

Yep! Two teachers in the neighborhood report the same thing. The wife and I tutor students from Meadow Homes school. The kid I worked with today doesn’t wake up until 10am and has never gone online for the 1 hour check-in. But no problem, Nancy Pelosi needs good servants to dish our her $20/pint ice-cream.

School districts are providing computers and hot spots. It is by no means ideal but better than nothing. The student and family need to take initiative.

Wow dan, I had to read that twice! An actual lib telling someone to take initiative and do something for themselves….amazing!

Dan, truer words were never spoken; unless… I remember a thing my old grand-dad use to say about his trusty steed….

“S”, he’s say….
“You can lead my a horse to water, but if he ain’t thirsty, what the hell Ya’ gonna do?”

Yep… That’s what he said alright!

Why do you think I am a liberal? Is it because I support common sense and safety? Is it because I look at the collective good over the individual? That does not define who you are on the political spectrum. It defines who you are as a person. I was disappointed when Newsome was elected because he is too liberal for me but he has done a great job in the absence of leadership at the federal level.

In all fairness, I have voted for both democrats and republicans. I prefer fiscally conservative and socially liberal politicians. I believe in the freedom of the individual as long as it does not impede on the rights of others.

The world is not black and white. It does not fit into a political doctrine. That’s where the conservative movement is missing here. This is not a matter of politics. Stop trying to shoehorn it into a political doctrine. It undermines the party’s larger message and makes it come across that conservatives are tone deaf.

Since he is preparing to reconfigure life as we know it, let’s solve a couple of problems at once:

Equip all hair salons to also provide Coronavirus testing.

The only way schools would open in July is if the state negotiated with the teacher’s unions.

And that’s what I hate about unions. It’s not about the kids, it’s about money and negotiations. That sucks for our kids!

J. Of course if you worked for Tyson and was ordered by the President to go into a covid infested plant you would appreciate the support.

According to many great Academic Institutions and this pretty comprehensive report — opening is possible and it is time to do so with a plan. Not getting a haircut and sitting in our house is neither a plan nor leadership. https://www.rockefellerfoundation.org/national-covid-19-testing-action-plan/

Long haired freaky people need apply …

Not!

🙂

Now the songs stuck in my head.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeT5otk2R1g

I can see it now, underground barbershops.

Snipeasies???

I’m ever so grateful for my Flowbee.

Lol, mines 25 years old and still going strong.
And Mom was a hair dresser 🙂

Oh, cool! Did your mom know about your Flowbee?🙂

Getting my hair done!!! People are still operating their businesses. It’s time to re-open. Just do it! There is a protest this Friday in the capital at noon. Newsom will be there. Get there early and the plan is to jam all the streets surrounding the Capital and demand we re-open our state.

School starting in July. Teachers are still working now. He will have to pay the teachers more for an extended school year. No plans yet to social distance the students. High schools need a plan. Classes are large and rooms are small. PE classes are huge and locker rooms small.

They don’t have a plan, they are making it up as they go along. This is a thoroughly outrageous idea since classrooms are not air conditioned and it will be sweltering in them come July and August. Why torture the poor children like that? Well, he doesn’t seem to mind torturing us all, so why would Newsom grant your children an exception?

Way to go Gittyup! Always able to come up with a reason to hate. There are some things that can be done to address the temperature. Maybe open the window?

Potato New to you, I’m sure, filtered through your myopic liberal philosophy, but I don’t hate. I don’t have the time or energy. I simply make observations of human behavior having been trained as a social scientist. Sorry that you feel anyone who disagrees with your take on things is a hater. Makes you look simpleminded and not able to understand more complex ways of thinking. Specifically, thinking in the abstract.

In 100 + degree July heat, a window is going to do much good. But, why am I not surprised at your response? Because liberals have no grasp of reality.

True leaders lead by example. Gavin and the rest of our leaders in California and here in Contra Costa County appear to be getting regular haircuts, and wearing $500 suits etc. What a bunch of asshats.

I’m sure his wife is cutting his hair, maybe she uses a Flowbee and a bowl.

Include trump, pence, and his daily groupies.

@Ozzie There is no reason whatsoever to add Trump and Pence to this conversation, as they do not run the State of California, Newsom runs it, ok?

Excellent point, Cyn!

After thought..And his wife slicks back his hair with Crisco.

Perhaps our beloved Gavin, the head of the California nation state should attempt to relate to his people. It is obvious that he is getting regular grooming and laundry service for those $1,000 suits, and then telling us to do as we are told. No haircuts, No protesting, No working. Just do as he says and “shut the f–k up”. Hey Gavin, enough, I am a citizen with Constitutional Rights and intend to exercise them.

For Gavin the Constitution is just a piece of paper. Remember that line from Pirates of the Caribbean: “And thirdly, the code is more what you’d call “guidelines” than actual rules. Welcome aboard the Black Pearl, Miss Turner.”

Even worse, my Brazilian Wax appointment has been cancelled twice. Welcome to the Jungle. ☹️

I blame Bush!

There are times when I really wish we could post pictures on Claycord. And then there are days like today, . . .

Respirator on, going in !

What the hell is the matter with you people. You think shelves of empty toilet paper for a few weeks was bad, open this thing up and you’ll have whats happening in the Midwest on a National scale. Meat plants are shutting down because the majority of employees have contracted the virus. Then they go home and share it with the family and so on. Imagine going into Safeway and the Meat department looking like the toilet paper shelves and lasting for months. Then it spreads to the people operating the electric and water plants, I guess we can close them like the meat plants. Imagine Mad Max level devastating, no Food, no Water, no Electricity. Imagine refrigerator tucks outside all the local Hospitals full of dead body’s like in New York City. Imagine mass graves like the ones on Hart Island in New York coming to a neighborhood near you. (Yes there really are Mass Graves for Corona virus in the U.S. https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2020/04/27/hart-island-mass-grave-coronavirus-burials/).It would be especially hard for you people who are having trouble coping with no haircuts.
I listen to the SCIENTISTS, not Fox radio and TV personalities.
Mass stupidity will kill a massive amount of people.

I completely agree. This situation could turn into something a lot worse. Seems like a lot of people are uninformed or in denial thinking worse issues couldn’t happen here like what’s currently happening in other countries and even in NY.

California has already made arrangements to use fuel efficient refrigerator trucks exclusively.

Scientists don’t agree. Which ones are you listening to ’cause I’m sure there are others who disagree.

Gittyup says, “Scientists don’t agree”. So just throw it all out and go with the proven Scientology? There are a lot of things that scientists do agree on. But the internet allows for any random idiot to get a voice. I suggest you go chain yourself to a playground to save the children’s right to play. Which amendment is that, I forget?

Jojo,

Seams counterintuitive to call yourself an idiot…

Potato Children’s right to play? By golly, did you make that up right on the spot? I think we have a trophy for you!

Serious question here:

Where are all of the new cases coming from? The country has been locked down for a month +. The incubation period is a week or two.

If we are all social distancing (some better than others), then why do we keep having new people getting infected?

Statistics are applied as they please to rationalize their actions. People like Dan above are all to quick to jump all over it. I see that there are 25 total deaths in Contra Costa County and 42 cities make up this county with 1.5 million people…make up your own mind be safe, your job is your freedom. I do not want the gov taking care of me with handouts…

Because people need to go out for necessities like groceries or they are not following the social distancing protocol. Did you see the pictures of the beaches over the weekend?

Yes I did see the pictures from the people at the beach…so should we all just stay inside cowering and lowering our natural immune systems?
People get sick everyday and die across this country should we all just stay inside with the information being fed as pleased? Again there are 25 deaths in all of CCC which 42 cities comprise and no deaths in the city that I live in. I have been safe the entire time and have come and gone as needed.

The Professor’s question about new cases is a good one. However, we can only guess as the county is not reporting. I would not expect the number to drop to zero as it’s not a full lockdown but still, it would be nice to know what types of people are getting infected.

There was an EB Times article a few days ago about assisted living facilities that mentioned that one additional resident of the Pleasant Hill facility tested positive, bringing the total to 61 (36 residents, 25 staff). The article said they are getting the data from the state. I tried to find this on ca.gov but was unable to do so. Most of the article was about how the state was refusing to provide updates. They now won’t even name the facilities which may be why I was unable to find anything of interest.

An interesting new article was a study done in China that looked at about 3000 cases where they could trace where the person was infected. Only one of them was outdoors.

@bdml – the question was where are the new cases coming from. Your response has nothing to do with the question. We get it, you dont like the stay at home order. There are alot of things that i dont like. I deal with it and at some point, you need to accept that this is the way it is and no amount of complaining will change that. (OMG, I said the same thing to my 8 year old this morning)

“I deal with it and at some point, you need to accept that this is the way it is and no amount of complaining will change that. (OMG, I said the same thing to my 8 year old this morning)”

Authoritarianism in a nutshell. This isn’t your house and public officials aren’t my parents.

I am amazed at how spoiled, selfish and entitled the respondents on here are. Look beyond yourself at the greater good. Can you imagine the economic fall out if this virus hits us with a second wave and we have to shut down for a longer period of time?

@dan If the “greater good,” a feel good slogan originated by the insurance company Prudential, by the way, had ever done me any good I might be a little more receptive. But, in the meantime I’ll stick with the rugged individualism conveyed in our Constitution and Bill of Rights which are being violated in California by an autocrat and tyrant.

Of all the things to be concerned with it’s haircuts.

Absurd.

From the guy who probably has a garage full of toilet paper.

It’s not the haircuts that are the concern. It is losing your job, your business, your house, etc. that is the concern.

The haircut issue is justified frustration of Newsom’s double-standard and hypocrisy. There is no way in hell that he’s cutting his own hair or dry cleaning his own suits. He demands that we all SIP without the usual amenities like a haircut while he flouts his own SIP order.

@ Chicken Little – LOL

Ain’t the internet great? Everyone can insult everyone else over stupid stuff like toilet paper and haircuts and think he’s a great person. I suggest close down all internet chat! Then we can enjoy the peace that is going on outside.

I cant speak for anybody else but my hair has never looked better.

“Of all the things to be concerned with it’s haircuts.”

Pretty sure that barbers and hairstylists that pay their rent and provide for their loved ones by cutting hair don’t find it absurd. But I’m certain you’ve thought of that, right?

Barbers and hairstylists can’t be the only one that pay their rent and provide for their loved ones? So why singling them out and not showing concern for other small businesses?

Absurd.

Rolls
no they are concerned with some one else getting a haircut and not them. Really.

Not talking about schools or manufacturing. Let’s complain about companies in phase 2 that need to be opened sooner. Let’s get thousands of people back to work.

Hundreds of comments he got one and I didn’t is from the participation trophy generation. We’re doomed

The topic of haircuts came up because our Governor brought it up. Perhaps he went off-script.

Just on the news, Newsom is ordering the beaches closed this Friday.
