Turned on CCCFPD radio feed after hearing several sirens.

Supposedly, the person suffered severe chemical burns in a household accident nearby.

What make & model scanner do you have?
I’ve always wanted to listen but don’t know what to buy

You can download a multiple selection of free scanners for your cell phone. Just select the agency that you want and they work quite well. No reason to buy one. The fire department will work well, but police radios are truncated.

I have an app called PulsePoint that follows Contra Costa Fire as well as many other departments across the country. I always checked it when something was happening on my college campus in Sacramento

@DVC Student
I have a Uniden HomePatrol 2. It’s easy to setup. You just enter the zip code of your location and it will scan all known frequencies within 30 miles. This may give you many frequencies that you aren’t interested in so there are filters for the type of calls you want. You can avoid the ones you don’t want to hear. If your in a large hotel you may not want to hear calls for housekeeping and room service. Casino security can be interesting. The scanner uses the RadioReference.com, frequency database. It’s portable and has rechargeable batteries. If you take it on a road trip just enter the zip code of the city you want to monitor.

I have an older scanner, a Uniden Trunk Tracker IV, and it doesn’t get good reception all the time. Does anyone have any suggestions to improve reception?

I use the broadcastify app for the fire department and formerly, Concord Police. Unfortunately, the latter’s streaming feed went off the a[[ about a year ago (maybe CPD went encrypted?)

@Bob
Concord PD is not encrypted. They’re still very busy on the scanner. Antioch and Brentwood are the only encrypted police channels around here. Most of our area frequencies are listed here. https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=189
College mentioned the PulsePoint app. I use that too. Most of the time PulsePoint shows the call as the dispatcher is giving info on it. PulsePoint works well in Reno and Las Vegas. You don’t need to be in those cities to see what’s happening. If you have a city you what to monitor just enter the name. It might be one that’s covered.

what = would like to

Praying.

wait… so that chopper ain’t ‘Murican?

DVC, really? What are they teaching you in school?
I love DVC! After graduation I continued another 13 years!
Henry Hall, love you man!

Pray victim is recovering!

Dr. Henry Hall!

He assigned seats and kept the chart at his podium. In the middle of a lecture he would call your name and hit you with a question. You had to really be on your toes. Great teacher, great sense of humor.

Household accident? Jumping to conclusions but first thought is someone was cooking up a batch of meth. Thankfully person is in good hands. Wishing for a speedy recovery.

FPN, I just had to laugh, because that was my first thought, cookin’ meth.
Hopefully a quick recovery.

He was converting his meth lab to a hand sanitizer lab and wasn’t familiar with the new chemicals he was using.

DVC Kidd,
U Smarter now!

You better stop running your mouth about my schooling or I’m gonna use my financial aid (paid by taxpayers = You) to buy myself a scanner.
Hahaaa

It does not matter why he had an accident. Prayers are in order. I am terrified of being burned. I cannot imagine how much pain that would be. So awful. This is not the time to be sarcastic or insensitive about this person’s problem. I am thankful he is still alive and in the hospital.

Hope this persons survives. If not, looks like another COVID numbers to keep them padded and high, and people in fear.
