The above shows that PH has 40 total cases reported, but this morning’s paper says they have 60 cases in just “one” Senior Living Center in PH with 5 deaths–what’s correct?

Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek are always tied in numbers.
Looks like bogus estimates

The conflicting information since this started is mind boggling. Just prior to the outbreak, I heard a report on a study that found that hand sanitizer was ineffective in killing a number of pathogens. Today I heard that bandannas are ineffective as a face mask. And, if I hear one more person say, “We’re all in this together,” I’m gonna hurl. I’m not in anything “together” with rapists, murders, sexual molesters of children, sodomists, aldulters, and Gavin Newsom.

@Gittyup – I totally agree with you on the conflicting information. We hear one thing on the morning news then the complete opposite on the evening news. It’s ridiculous and leading us to believe that none of these “experts” know anything – and watching news is a waste of time! I also agree on the “We’re all in this together” ads. So sick of attention-starved celebrities’ home videos and PSAs on TV. We were watching CBS one day when a PSA came on with several CBS tv personalities reassuring us that we’re all in this together. L.L. Cool J even blew a kiss and told us he loves us 🤪. My husband (sarcastically) asked if I feel better about this whole thing knowing that L.L. Cool J loves me. Nope, sorry, couldn’t care less. I’m “in this” with family and friends —- nobody else.

@Bob – the numbers for the senior home are 35 residents and 25 staff. It’s possible that 35 of the 40 reported for Pleasant Hill are from the senior home and that none of the staff lives in Pleasant Hill.

It’s not clear how the health department determines a person’s city of residence. Many of the people at at that facility don’t drive and use their children’s homes as the official address for things. They don’t register to vote, etc. Thus, official records can have cities other than Pleasant Hill.

@Aunt Barbara – Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek are not always tied in numbers. They happen to have the same numbers today and yesterday. You can see that Pleasant Hill’s numbers have been climbing more rapidly than Walnut Creek as more residents and staff from the assisted living facility test positive for COVID-19.

Here are the numbers for Pleasant Hill vs. Walnut Creek.
04/06/2020 9 27
04/07/2020 10 28
04/08/2020 11 28
04/09/2020 11 29
04/10/2020 13 31
04/11/2020 16 31
04/12/2020 18 31
04/13/2020 20 32
04/14/2020 25 37
04/15/2020 30 37
04/16/2020 32 37
04/17/2020 34 37
04/18/2020 35 37
04/19/2020 35 37
04/20/2020 36 37
04/21/2020 38 38
04/22/2020 40 40

That trend does not look bogus to me.

@SF Oh Exactly! I’ll decide who I’m “in this” with.

Open businesses now. The lack of tax generation means a lack of government services and destruction of the housing market. I’m wondering if I should sell my house RIGHT NOW!

https://www.zerohedge.com/economics/far-worse-come-covid-19-collapse-state-local-governments?fbclid=IwAR3Qd9IhXYLLAEsh4LQq9yy0P0ggGlHGkgR1cwSVf2T5i7uC_CleyeM2LX8

22 million people unemployed as of last week. UE numbers get released tomorrow and that total will be closer to 30 million unemployed. There are already a lot of people not making their rent or mortgage payments. None of this is good for house prices.

Unemployment for March was 4.4%

Annual Unemployment
2013 6.7%
2014 5.6%
2015 5.0%
2016 4.7%
2017 4.1%
2018 3.9%
2019 3.5%

Property taxes need to be lowered now.

4.4% is through March 13—right before the massive wave of jobless claims. It is actually closer to 14% now.

Your link shows the real problems to come.
The mask/ no mask discussions are not even worth discussing. We have some REAL problems on the horizon. The food lines are going to get a lot longer. Income to cities, counties and states will drop. Cities may even fail financially.
Time to focus on that.
It’s going to get real scary.

Nice post, Jimmy. But according to Wikipedia, Zerohedge is known for sensationalist headlines, conspiracy theories and getting kicked off Twitter for manipulating the news, and called a “permabear” for always being negative. No place I have gone to has food lines. There are lines for social distancing, but once in the store there is a ridiculous amount of food available. There are shortages of TP, and certain other items. Thanks for playing, though. I’m sure some people read your post and panicked. Fun stuff for you I guess.

Longtime Department Stores like Neiman Marcus are shuttering because of this.
Amazon and leaf blowing landscapers are the only ones surviving thanks to Gavin’s demented vision for California.
Everyone is either angry, depressed, or sad, but most are at wits end this week. We just can’t let this dictating go on any longer.

Neiman Marcus regularly has about 5 people in their stores that are the size of a Nordstrom looking to buy $300 socks, this has been well overdue for them

Neiman has had financial troubles before the epidemic. There were predictions that they would file for bankruptcy last year, but the private-equity firm that owns the company decided to take the company further into debt. Their current situation has more to do with leveraged buyouts and debt obligations, and less to do with the shutdown.

Filing for bankruptcy allows a company a chance to restructure get back on more secure footing. They are closing their discount stores, which was already being planned before the epidemic, to refocus entirely on luxury retail.

It does raise questions though why Target can sell clothing when other stores cannot. If Neiman Marcus were to start selling groceries, then I suppose they could be open for business.

In my large circle of friends and family, some are a little sad at times, but most everyone is just thankful that they live in a community and state that took this virus seriously. We’ll all get through this eventually. There are many people who are very severely impacted by job loss or illness, but I suspect many on this forum are actually doing okay. If you are angry, depressed, sad, or at wit’s end…reach out! Call 211 for mental health resources to help you deal with this. There is help for those that ask.

Talk to nurses and you’ll really get confused. Hospitals are way under reporting cases and over reporting wuhan virus related deaths. What’s really going on here? Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what the motive for this is.

Bethel island has been at 1 for more then 3 weeks, these numbers are wrong all they do is add cases but never subtract the cases that have recovered. These numbers will grow but never reduce

Aunt Barbara, You need to expand your social circle. In many of your post you often mention that everyone is depressed, suicidal, and you added a couple mad and angry. I know very few that a depressed, some a little frustrated, but most handle this just fine. I’m a little sad because I have a new grandson I have not seen yet.

Anyway if you are around people who feel depressed and angry it is bound to rub off on you, if you are around positive people you feel more positive.

Who asked you?

I agree with you, Hanne. Aunt Barbara seems to need a boost! This is a time for all of us to care for our mental health…and there are many ways to do that. First, turn off the news! Limit time online. Cook a healthy meal. Check in on an elderly neighbor. Go outside. Breathe. Meditate. Start a journal about your feelings during this time. Listen to your favorite music. Dance in your living room. Read a book. And avoid negative people!

@LoveMyCity… Please don’t send Aunt Barbara over to check on me, or Kentucky Derby for that matter, she’s had too much “skoolin”.

No new county deaths. What a dilemma to work or not to work. That is the question. Being retired I can’t make suggestions. We really need a dependable cure. If we had better info from the county about where specifically these new cases are coming from it would be easier to make a decision. I think due to the seriousness of the economy being shut down we are being underserved.

LovemyCity, Love your positive posts. I think Aunt Barbara just like to vent, she never defends herself. Which I do, and I guess I take it a little too far. People that are always negative is poison, and since I deal with the public day in and day out, I come across them, fortunately not too often, but usually there is not much you can do to please them, no matter how much you try.

People just enjoy yanking your chain!

Wonder where we’d be today, if masking had been instituted back on 11 March ? ? ?

Did anyone know there was a protest at the capitol building on Monday? And now look, the CHP has banned them….

https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/crime/article242198781.html

They were supposed to stay in their cars. They didn’t they lose. Next time don’t be so stupid to put others at risk. .

The most important fundamental right of Americans and they just banned it.

@ Ozzie

You’d be the perfect collaborator in a Régime de Vichy style government.

Also, 156 more were tested, and only 14 were positive! That means 142 qualified to be tested but were negative.

It’s time to start cruising Main in Walnut Creek again!
If you have a cool car Friday and Saturday nights cruise up North Main and back on Locust, just like the old days!

Uncle say’s “Sorry Fearless… taking advantage of home time to swap in a new engine”.

Time to restart elective surgeries. I have a sister who could die if she doesn’t get a heart procedure soon. So life saving procedures are elective surgeries. Simply wonderful.

@Ricardoh

The Governor announced today that surgeries such as your sister’s are now allowed under the shelter in place order.

Cmama
I saw that. Thank You.

Before you libs dismiss this link because it’s from Fox News, think twice and take heart….some of your liberal sweethearts in the state legislature as well as your local Bible, the sf chronicle, are quoted in here and ACTUALLY wonder what’s going on! A chink in the tyrannical adulterous’ armor! Sadly, I’m sure old auntie Nancy is applying fresh gel while feeding him gourmet ice cream.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/california-gov-newsom-wont-share-details-on-1b-mask-deal-with-china

First off, the hair gel/ice cream thing is a most disturbing visual.
Well done.

As for the secret mask deal, it seems to me that if there ever was a time to buy American, this would be it. Going to China for masks is sort of like asking the guy who just punched you in the eye for an ice pack.

Our job is to help our economy recover, not theirs.

Ricardoh, Good luck to your sister, I hope she will be fine.
