I used Instacart a couple of times. First time was From Costco and there was no problem. The second time the shopper never came to our home even though they said on the app that the food was delivered. That became a two day nightmare to get in touch with Instacart, reorder the food and have it delivered. Not using Instacart anymore.
Just had same thing happen Costco delivery said left at front door and I’m home….not my door …how did you get resolved Costco said “ not there problem 3rd party” yikes won’t do this again
No I have not, but my neighbor had a crazy thing happen when she ordered her groceries from Safeway. The delivery person actually delivered the groceries by through an opened door to her neighbor’s place in error. Not only that, that neighbor was not home ( we live in a gated community) still dumb to leave your doors opened. Then the frozen stuff defrosted products went all over the place on her dining room table. Is that crazy? Then my poor neighbor could not get through Safeway to get her money back or to tell them what happened. True story. I would still order from Safeway perhaps even though this happened. I am sure people just make weird mistakes. NO big deal really. Just kind of weird.
They won’t enter a house/apartment without someone over 18present. They will leave your groceries that you promise to being inside and put away within an hour. No refund .
With the way things are going at the store, it’s tempting – but it’s not worth it. We go right when they open (stores without long lines) or right before they close. We only go if really necessary, and when we’re there, the stores are pretty empty. Strategy goes a long way. We can’t change what’s going on, but we can adjust our own schedules. Stay safe.
Never have and probably never will unless I become immobilized for some reason. Although I despise shopping, I like to see, touch, feel, and sometimes read the label of what I am buying. .
I also don’t trust the delivery person to deliver to the correct address.

No. I am the decider…I decide which fruits and vegetables look good enough for purchase. And if an item isn’t available? I can make a switch right then and there. And I do compare prices in-store.
We also do almost all of our own cooking…no restaurant food since the lockdown. Must say that I do miss the Lunch Special at the Chinese Kitchen on Clayton.

from Safeway; not again. They bring dairy and such that is at or past expiration dates. Scrap produce and meat that is sell or freeze by “today”. But the worst part?????? They Broke My COOKIES!

I have from Safeway, Nob Hill, and While Foods. Whole Foods has been the best. They really have an organized process and I’ve received my orders within 2 hrs.
I’ve been using InstaCart since before the pandemic. I’m on crutches and have to go up 16 stairs to my condo. They have been, overall, great! I’ve only had one bad experience. A girl brought my groceries, I said they weren’t mine. Nothing in those bags were something I’d ordered. She went back to her first stop, found my groceries, but said he wouldn’t give them to her. He finally did, I got my groceries and she received a poor rating. Most of them are very polite, efficient and keep you informed of where they are in the process and if you want replacements for things out of stock. They’ll even send pictures of shelves to let you see if there’s anything you want to replace an item with.
I decided to try and have groceries delivered. My first order I placed was from Safeway and for some reason was unable to edit my order from the time it was placed.
The order was delivered on time. The driver wore a mask, placed the order on front steps and I was pleased with service.
A different day I had Lucky deliver thru Instacart. I was able to edit order, add, delete items up until shopper began shopping. The shopper kept me updated throughout, letting me know what was unavailable and offered choices for substitutions. She shopped about an hour and my delivery was made within 20 minutes of her checking out. She also used social distancing. It was a good experience for me!
Volunteer run org called Neighbor Express does food and non-food item delivery to Concord and Walnut Creek residents. Free delivery, only pay for the items you want on your shopping list.

No deliveries but i did an online order and pickup with Ace on Clayton Road. Worked great. I had the clerk put the package in the trunk. No contact; little wait; well organized.
I order local organic delivery every week.
Some products have been unavailable, but most items are delivered.
I have ordered Instacart before and during the pandemic. Pre-pandemic was from Sprouts and they did well until one time I ordered $60 in boneless skinless thighs so we could grind and bag our own meat but instead they brought bone in skin on thighs…and at twice the price. So it was a bust. I had not used Instacart again until the pandemic and I’ve ordered from Costco successfully 2x. I am not willing to risk our safety in a big-box store. To no surprise there has been no TP, but it is totally worth the cost.. All times, the Instacart personnel have been GREAT COMMUNICATORS constant texting to let me know what isn’t in stock or to inquire about switching out pork loin for pork chops, etc. If you are having your groceries delivered like me — make sure you TIP WELL. These folks deserve it!
I’ve been using Safeway’s online grocery delivery service for a number of years now. I cannot shop in person due to mobility issues. I had groceries delivered a week ago. I have to say though, it was quite a challenge getting a delivery appointment this last time around. I had to check the website several times a day, several days in a row, until something opened up. They have many, many new online customers since the shutdown order and Safeway just wasn’t prepared. They have been frantically hiring a lot of personal shoppers and delivery drivers.
I was expecting a lot of what I ordered to be out of stock by the time my order was filled, but I was surprised to receive most of it, including the bottled water I asked for. One of the things I didn’t receive that I care the most about was my almond milk. I did get the vanilla almond milk, but none of the plain almond milk arrived. It’ll be okay though; I’ve placed an order with another business for a case of shelf stable almond milk, and that’s arriving later this week.
I tried Safeway first. There were no delivery dates available and no pick up slots available. Total brick wall. Then I tried Instacart. No delivery dates available but I could get pickup at Lucky. However, I wasn’t able to download the app (for some reason a search for instacart led me to a roofing company) so I couldn’t notify Lucky that I was outside in the parking spot. Had to go in. Kind of defeats the purpose.
Years ago when Safeway first offered delivery, I had groceries delivered for about 3 months. The biggest disappointment in my opinion was the produce. I like to pick mine out. What they delivered, if they even had it in stock in the warehouse where the delivery originated, didn’t seem to meet my standards. At that time they didn’t give you a choice, if I remember correctly, and some things were substitutions which was also a disappointment. All in all, it just wasn’t worth the trouble and I likely wouldn’t do it again.
We have ordered from Costco, Safeway, and Whole Foods. Everything has worked fine for the most part.
Something to watch out for at Safeway: If you order peanuts and they carry salted, lightly salted, and unsalted, they will blow the dust off the unsalted container and give you that.
Something to watch out for at Whole Foods: If they run out of real tortillas they will substitute wheat tortillas. Throughout the entire Coronavirus pandemic there has been no shortage of wheat tortillas. We know why.
Nope…but if you post a survey along the lines of WHICH GROCERY STORES HAVE YOU SHOPPED? WHAT WAS GOOD AND THE BAD ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE?…I’ll feedback ya
I’ve used Safeway and Instacart. I prefer Instacart because of the texting if they have to substitute an item. I have dietary restrictions so the Safeway option of a good enough guess for a substitute doesn’t always work for me. The produce is always good that Instacart chooses too and there is no minimum requirements for delivery. I just find it a simpler way to shop with Instacart.
I’ve ordered and gotten delivery from Whole Foods. It’s been a good experience. (But I would like to know who in Walnut Creek is eating all the cream cheese.)
I suggest that the delivery people start wearing masks when they come to the door.
