Contra Costa Health Department Reminds Residents To Observe Religious Practices At Home This Weekend

Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) reminds the public that county residents should observe their faiths at home while the stay-at-home order remains in place.

The health officer order requires Contra Costa residents to stay home except for essential trips, such as to find food, healthcare or to provide care for someone who cannot leave their home, or to go to and from an essential job.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our lives, and we empathize with anyone who is unable to practice their religious traditions and celebrations as usual during this challenging time,” said Dr. Chris Farnitano, Contra Costa County Health Officer. “However, to protect everyone in the community, we must avoid gatherings outside of one’s immediate household to reduce the spread of the virus.”

Suspending in-person gatherings does not mean suspending worship. Many organizations continue to observe together, through livestreaming or by watching recorded services online.

Remind them to CHANGE their GLOVES after each person you interact with.

Fast food drive-thru clerks are not changing their gloves after each customer when they take the credit card & hand it back. So every customer’s germs are on that 1 pair of gloves all day long.

Then they grab your food with those same gloves.

CHANGE after each customer!

Rossmoor Diner who works mostly with elderly clientele does not wash hands after handling cash and cards and then prepares your food for takeout.. No gloves with worker sounding very sick.
Total Ignorance

Good point. I picked up my order at a place we eat at every week. My order was on a paper at one booth and another order was on a paper at another booth. The owner, wearing gloves, wiped my credit card with a disinfectant cloth before she handed it back. I used my own pen and added a tip to help them out.

People want to worship together.

If some of those people want to take the risk, that’s their business, not the Counties.

The Coronavirus is in no way a pandemic.

It’s only mass hysteria.

Government at all levels have overreached their authority.

The government has never been able to manage anything successfully.

This phony pandemic is a result of poor management and panic.

Pat April 10, 2020 - 5:28 PM - 5:28 PM

Be serious, not stupid. How about when those people go out and infect many, many others causing more serious illness and deaths? Use your head before posting such nonsense.

“This phony pandemic is a result of poor management and panic.”

Re-read that slowly – LOL…

However, we are in the situation with the economy because President Trump screwed this up at every possible step.

Thank God California refused to listen to Trump otherwise it would look far different.

Concernicus April 10, 2020 - 6:16 PM - 6:16 PM

Yeah!
I mean, surely God will keep them safe, right? If thoughts and prayers are effective influences on reality, they’ve got nothing to worry about!

While you’re at it, don’t obey traffic signals or visit a doctor. God’s got you covered.

*Mutters* Or at least you’ll be going to meet him soon if you believe that garbage.

This country has to many Kool- Aid drinkers of all flavors.
I wish more people would drink clear water!
Although its fun to watch the hand ringers get blisters and the snowflakes melt.

I’m not particular religious, would say agnostic. I do know that years ago when I was walking in moonlight with friends in Yosemite Valley, and looked at the rocks and wonder of the park, I realized there is more between heaven and earth than I can explain. Because I grew up in a country that does not have separation of church and state, I was taught religion in school, so I’m familiar with the basics of Christianity.
I have my mother’s view of religion, she always said “If God exists he will know I’m a good person, and I don’t have to go to church to prove it” and both my parents were truly good people, always had some to give those that had less, even though they didn’t have much. Always ready with a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors.
So I think people can worship at home, and I’m sure God will forgive them. If not, then that is not the God I was taught in school.

I am having my whole family over for Easter. Screw the Health Department.

Silva April 11, 2020 - 7:22 AM - 7:22 AM

If people would only SIP this wouldn’t need to go on for long. Good luck to you and your family and everyone who comes into contact with any of you.

@ JRocks – if you get sick and need assistance – just stay home – don’t waste the health of a first responder, doctor or nurse…

Safety Second April 11, 2020 - 11:26 AM - 11:26 AM

Very easy for Dr. Farnitano and all career bureaucrats and politicians to lecture all of us who have lost jobs, businesses, relationships, and life savings. After all, the good doctor and all government workers/pensioners still get there income. We are not “all” in this together!!! Quite the contrary. Yes, 20,000 Americans have already died from the Wuhan virus but where was Dr. Farnitano last year when 60,000 Americans died of the flu; and the year before that when 80,000 Americans died? Why wasn’t there a rush then to a 100% shelter in place? And just who is Dr. Farnitano and the 6 other Bay Area health directors who were the first in the nation to call for 100% SIP? Certainly they were directed by someone above their pay grade. Every American needs to be VERY concerned about a handful of Bureaucrats being able to unilaterally shut down an entire economy when we already know that 98% of those infected with the virus will recover.

commoncents April 11, 2020 - 2:49 PM - 2:49 PM

@ Safety Second – how many of our first responders, doctors and nurses died last year when treating the flu? Which 2% of people are you willing to sacrifice as collateral damage? The problem was and is – no or little testing – which is likely what this administration wanted to keep the numbers down…
