City Of Concord Urges Residents To Use Parks Responsibly

by CLAYCORD.com

All City of Concord parks remain closed for socializing.

People are encouraged to take walks in their neighborhoods and choose less busy times to stroll through the parks and local trails to get exercise and fresh air – both of which are advised for improved physical and mental health.

In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, the City of Concord has closed many of its facilities in accordance with orders from County health officials. These include park playgrounds, ball fields, basketball/tennis/pickleball/bocce courts, picnic tables, restrooms, and parking lots. Diablo Creek Golf Course, the Concord Community Pool, the Concord Skate Park, and the City’s two dog parks also remain closed.

City parks and facilities will remain closed through at least May 3.

If each of those people are 6’ apart diagonally, they will only be 4’ apart from the other two. Standard Geometry.

That’s pretty embarrassing.

You’re only thinking in two dimensions, Mike…

I think it’s more like 8.48 feet apart if all 4 are at right angles to the center.

maybe they used Common Core.

2d works!

c=a2+b2=4.22+4.22≈5.9397

4.2 would be 2 sides of 90*, diagonal is 5.94

, Mike must think the person in the center is 4.472 feet off the ground, and the other four are on the ground like the base of pyramid. This must be the case because the alternative is that he is wrong.

Pythagorean theorem. Of course, only if a 90 degree angle.

@ Frank, A square can be filled with either 2 or 4 triangles.
Triangles: 90*, 45*, & 45*.
Now, lets label each person in the square A, B, C, D (going top left, top right, lower right, lower left).

If there are two triangles, the sides run A to B,B to C, C to A…… Or A to D,D to C, C to A. (Technically, you could rotate the two triangles, so long sides run B to D, but lets stick with the previously mentioned triangles).

Now, from the picture, the arrows would represent C to A. (or B to D). So if C to A is 6′, A to B & B to C would each be 4.2′.

To take it one step further, if there were 4 triangles, we would need another point. Lets make that point E, which would be the very center of the square. (basically we are cutting each of the previous mentioned triangles in half, to make 4).
So now we have 4 triangles:
A to B to E (E to A)
B to C to E (E to B)
C to D to E (E to C)
D to A to E (E to D)

If we look at triangle A to B to E (E to A): Since E is in the middle, the distance of B to E and E to A is only 3′ (half of the 6′). So, if two sides are 3′, the third side is 4.2′

So each side of the square is 4.2′, the people are standing 4.2′ feet apart from the person to the left or right, and 6′ from the person across the square from them.

Here is an interactive calculator to help you out (make sure you make the angles 90*, 45* & 45*)

people don’t care or are dumb because these three teens were walking side by side taking the entire path of the trail up at hillcrest but most people were smart enough to line up behind one another while passing others then go back to being side by side but they did not.

Side by side is actually safer. Walking or running in tandem places you right in the wake of a plume from a cough from a person in front of you, especially if one is down wind.

The “dumb” teens were actually the smart ones. Lining up behind people is one of the worst things you can do to spread the virus.

Dub MD was poised to take wcasi d league softball championships this year. They better open the parks by then. Got the space on the mantel already picked out for the trophy.

It’s not rocket science, let me explain mass ratio = e ^ (delta-v/exhaust velocity) delta-v V44 = mu M + 4m +mu M +3m +mu M2 + mu M +m F dt + fdt = m(v + dv) − mv = mdv.
After all maybe it is.

Use your heads responsibly too. ie, Cashier at Safeway wears rubber gloves, then touches every customers groceries and fruits, and sticks hands in their bags, stuffing groceries inside, touches nose and money, but wears the same gloves throughout his whole shift. He yells at customers if they put groceries on the moving belt before he tells them too. WTF!

Someone determined years ago that most bacteria was transferred when money was exchanged.

We have been trying to take at least 2-3 walks in the neighborhood each day. On our pre-dinner walk we had a traffic jam on one street as a half dozen family groups ended up in the same area by chance. We have great neighbors who are friendly, so we moved around so everyone could maintain the “Physical Distance”.

BTW- Think about this…A researcher at Oxford thinks she has a vaccine for Xi Corona Virus and wants to begin testing it in a few weeks. She wants to complete human trials before ‘herd immunity’ develops. The way the article read, she must assume that will occur fairly soon. If this is true we might not actually need a vaccine, and this home detention may no longer be needed.

Just because cashiers wear gloves doesn’t mean no germs are present.
They should sanitize the belt often during checkouts. I’m sure customers would appreciate that and woudn’t mind waiting. After all what do we have.. “nothing” but time.
Otherwise, cross contamination happens big time!
Just sayin”

people should walk around with Gas Leaf Blowers to blow the germs away…

It’s a illustration, not a geometry equation. 🙄

Please don’t confuse the situation by offering rational observation. Empiricism is NOT fashionable at Claycord.

Salty here.

Shelter in Place doesn’t mean GROUP HIKING on Mt Diablo. All the MORONS that continue to group hike, it’s selfish individuals like you that are going to help continue to keep this virus going. Suck it up like the rest of us and we can hopefully be done with this in a other month or so..

Salty OUT!!!

Yep. Shelter in place doesn’t mean drive to another neighborhood to circumvent the mt Diablo parking lot closures. Putting citizens at risk so dumb a holes can get their way into the park

Salty here.

PURE SELFISHNESS. Plain and simple
Do not give a damn that they just have to be within 3 ft of any infected person. Oh Ya these selfish people can probably make it through catching it. But their elderly family/friends AND EVERYONE else could possibly catch it from them. Just so they can enjoy being selfish.

Salty DONE!

AAARRRGH!!!!!

Agree. They are selfish. More tragically is that Mt Diablo state park is negligent. They close theIt lots so Hikers can’t congregate. They say it’s for safety. Yet, they are sending cars into neighborhoods and residents are at risk. The park department is totally irresponsible and putting residents at risk.

Please people go visit your local hospital they are virtually empty. I know nurses who are being laid off. This is a regular flu you cant get a virus air born. Do your research , instead of bickering and arguing if somebody Kid Rock front of you or behind you ought to be doing some research hospitals are empty

You are a denier. Ask the scientists who are working on a vaccine. Ask the 22000 dead in US. No one who has 1/2 a brain believes this is regular flu.

Salty here.

To FedEx.. I do not claim to be a Dr. But every article that I have read claims this is an AIRBORNE. To say this is a regular flu.. That seems to be a bit naive.

Look at how fast this has spread and the number of deaths it caused.

SHELTER n save lives..

Salty out!!

Salty here.

To anyone that doesn’t believe a SHELTER IN PLACE is needed and that your Constitutional Rights are being infringed on. Google the MASS Grave photos in NY. Places like Hart Island.

Dont be niave in thinking California is immune to having the same outbreak.

Stay in your home and if u need to get out for exercise they keep saying to walk in your OWN neighborhood.

This isnt a vac or paid days off to go hiking.. Use common sense..

Salty out!!

Right Salty. Hard to say who is a bigger problem. The people that drive to neighborhoods to get their fresh air or the park department that closed their lots to appear to “fight crowding “ when they just made it worse fir residents.
